Eco Lux Mapua | Inlet Views, Outdoor Bath & Fire

Welcome to Pohutukawa Farm — an Eco Lux loft stay overlooking the Mapua Inlet.

Set within a reimagined industrial warehouse on our little patch of farmland, it’s spacious, light-filled and a little unexpected. Soaring ceilings, huge windows and industrial bones meet warm, relaxed comfort and beautiful inlet views.

Throw open the doors, put some music on and settle into a slower rhythm. Cook something delicious in the fully equipped kitchen, pick herbs from the garden, fire up the BBQ or simply sit and watch the inlet change with the tide.

Then sink into the outdoor bath under the stars, light the outdoor fire, pour something lovely and stay awhile.

At full tide, take a kayak onto the inlet, grab one of our modern vintage-style bikes and head into Mapua, or do absolutely nothing at all.

Pohutukawa Farm is Eco Lux with personality — relaxed, a little romantic and made for good food, long soaks, slow mornings and having a really good time.

We had a lovely stay at Pohutukawa Farm. Pet friendly, though not fully enclosed but our wee dog loved it. Beautiful views, comfortable bedding, good kitchen facilities. Loved the outdoor bath under the stars. Would love to come back again.

Wow - truly a unique luxury accommodation with amazing views. It was a little pricier than what we normally spend, but oh so worth it. The online pictures do not do the property justice - even our own photos could not accurately show the highlights. It was only minutes from waterfront shops and restaurants. We highly recommended Rimu with the wine tasting trees and awesome wood fired pizza. The property is also fairly close to the water taxis that will take you to great hikes at Abel Tasman. Our expectations were exceeded!

The coolest place!

Perfect spot!

We can’t say enough about how delightful our stay was at Pohutukawa Farm. The space was fantastic and the sunrises and sunsets were some of the best we’ve seen. We enjoyed the privacy, the wonderful design touches, and the location was perfect for our visit to the area. And the friendly sheep was a fun visitor. Lisa was a terrific host!

Beautiful place to stay in

Our family stopped at this place for couple nights. We liked it overall - it is very new apartment with everything you might need. Hosts are great.Several things to keep in mind:- there are steep stairs for one of the beds;- other stairs are hard metal, so slippers are recommended;- couch in the living room can accommodate one kid sleeping.

Divine view! fire fun! exceptional quality!

Relax and unwind from normal life at this exceptional retreat. Why not take an outside bath and enjoy your breakfast, while watching the sun on the distant mountains. Bike into lovely Mapua and explore by car the vineyards, beaches and surrounds. Attention to detail and special treats made us feel truly special, thank you so much.

I booked this for a birthday get-together with girlfriends and it did not disappoint. Fabulous place, stunning views and location, and excellent, friendly and very helpful hosts. Hosting Pohutukawa Farm gives us the chance to share a little piece of the life we love. We’re pretty relaxed people, and that’s how we like to host. We want you to arrive, exhale and feel completely at home.

Cook something fabulous — or don’t. Open the wine. Put the music on. Have a ridiculously long bath. Light the fire. Sleep late. Laugh loudly.

We’re right next door if you need us and always happy to help, recommend somewhere great to eat or have a chat. But we also know sometimes the best hosts are the ones you don’t see.

Come as you are, make yourself at home and have a really good time.

Why they chose this property

We love Mapua because it has that rare mix of village life and wide-open space. It’s small, creative, friendly and just a little bit quirky — with great food, cafés, galleries and plenty going on without ever feeling too busy.

From the farm we get the best of both worlds. We’re tucked away above the Mapua Inlet with farmland, big skies and ever-changing tidal views around us, yet the village is just minutes away. Grab one of the bikes and head in for coffee, lunch or dinner, or take a kayak out when the tide is full.

The wider Tasman region is pretty special too — vineyards, orchards, beaches, cycle trails and Abel Tasman National Park are all within easy reach.

But what we probably love most is coming home. The light changes, the tide comes and goes, the animals do their thing, and life feels just that little bit slower here.

What makes this property unique

Pohutukawa Farm is a little hard to put in a box — and that’s probably what makes it special.

It’s an industrial loft on a little patch of farmland, overlooking the Mapua Inlet. Big windows, soaring ceilings and raw industrial bones sit alongside beautiful linen, warm textures, thoughtful details and all the comforts that matter.

For us, Eco Lux isn’t about being fancy or precious. It’s about having less, choosing well and creating a beautiful space you can actually relax in.

Then there are all the things that make a stay here feel different — an outdoor bath under the stars, a fire to sit around, herbs to pick for dinner, kayaks when the tide is right, bikes for a trip into Mapua, friendly animals and views that completely change throughout the day.

You can cook a beautiful dinner or eat cheese and crackers. Put some music on. Open a bottle of wine. Stay in the bath too long. Sleep in.

It’s beautiful, but it’s meant to be lived in.
