The Space:
Three finished levels of original Victorian — sleeps 12 across 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, plus three separate sitting rooms and two dining areas so the whole group fits without stacking up.

✔ Fenced yard, gas grill, ~2-car street parking out front

Guest Access:
Self check-in via keypad — code is sent the day before arrival along with our digital guidebook covering trails, restaurants, ski shuttles, and altitude tips. Guests have access to the entire home including all five bedrooms, all five bathrooms, the kitchen, all sitting and dining rooms, the lower-level TV/game area, the fenced backyard, and the gas grill. Free street parking out front (room for ~2 cars). The garage is not included in the rental.
The Neighborhood:
The Ice Palace sits in Leadville's downtown historic district — a National Historic Landmark District where the silver-rush Victorians the original mining barons built still line every block.
✔ 2 blocks to Harrison Avenue (downtown's restaurant/brewery row)
✔ Across the street from Ice Palace Park — the actual site of the 1896 ice palace
✔ Mineral Belt Trail (11.6-mile paved loop): 5-min walk to nearest trailhead
✔ National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum: 4 blocks
✔ Tabor Opera House (1879): 4 blocks
✔ Twin Lakes (Aspen-side fishing/boating): 25 min drive
✔ Ski Cooper (locals' mountain): 25 min
✔ Copper Mountain: 35 min · Vail: 45 min · Aspen: 1h via Independence Pass (summer only)
Getting Around:
Free street parking out front fits about two cars and is included; the garage is not part of the rental. The Ice Palace is in walking distance to most of downtown Leadville — Harrison Avenue restaurants, breweries, coffee, outfitters, museums, and trailheads. A car is recommended for groups planning to ski Ski Cooper (~25 min), Copper Mountain (~35 min), or Vail/Beaver Creek (~45 min) — there is no public transit between Leadville and the resorts. CMC's free in-town shuttle covers a small loop around downtown but doesn't reach the resorts. Allow extra time for snow/ice conditions Nov–April; plowing is reliable but Leadville averages 100+ inches of annual snow.
Other Things to Note:
ALTITUDE — Leadville sits at 10,152 ft, the highest incorporated city in North America. Some guests experience altitude symptoms (headache, fatigue, mild nausea) the first 24 hours. Hydrate aggressively, take it easy on day one, skip alcohol the first night, and consider travel insurance if you're prone to altitude sickness — we cannot offer refunds for altitude-related issues.
NO A/C — Leadville stays cool year-round at 10,152 ft; A/C is not standard in any home here and is rarely needed. Summer nights drop to the 40s.
NO HOT TUB — The home has an indoor jetted tub for two (the "Jacuzzi" the title references), not an outdoor hot tub. If a hot tub is essential, ask us about other Traverse properties.
NO PETS — This is not a pet-friendly home.
PARKING — Free street parking generally fits ~2 cars directly in front. Leadville's Victorian-era streets are tight, especially in winter when snowbanks narrow them further. Park courteously and try not to block neighbors' shoveled spaces.
WILDLIFE — You may encounter local wildlife (foxes, deer) and the occasional small critter that's part of mountain living. Doors stay closed; we maintain ongoing pest control.
LICENSE — City of Leadville STR license #001322.
GUIDEBOOK — A digital guidebook with check-in info, restaurant recs, trail maps, and ski-day logistics is sent via email link the day before arrival. This is the only path to your check-in info, so please look for it.
Interaction with Guests:
We are local Leadville-based property managers. Self check-in via keypad means you can arrive late without coordinating; we send the code, the digital guidebook, and an introduction text the day before arrival. We're available by phone, text, or message 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for anything during your stay — restaurant recommendations, trail conditions, plumbing emergencies, whatever — and we run a 24/7 emergency line for urgent issues outside those hours. We don't drop in unannounced.

Chose to stay here for a weekend family getaway with my siblings and their family visiting from Japan. The house was excellent and exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend it, and we are strongly considering staying again if we stay in Leadville again.

Charming older home with plenty of space for adult family to gather. Enough bedrooms and baths so everyone had their privacy upstairs.

This is the second time that our 2 families have stayed at this property. It's the perfect set up with plenty of beds and bathrooms to go around. Our children particularly love the corner sofa off the kitchen to watch the NCAA basketball tournament!Selfishly, an improvement we would love to see, but is certainly not a big deal, would be a crockpot for meals to cook while we're skiing and a blender for shakes in the morning.

The heat was out the first night, but they came and brought us space heaters and got it fixed the next day. We had a nice stay.

The I e Palace is a great place to stay for a large family. The multiple rooms are perfect with bathrooms for everyone. The top floor showers are for small people but the two spa tubs are perfect after a long day on the ski slopes.
The home is historically beautiful.
Thank you.

Too many stairs the stone floors are hard on feet and toes but was clean and would recommend it to others
This house was exactly what we needed for our family getaway. It’s so welcoming and plenty of room. The host was so kind! I did have to call a couple of times with questions and (I can’t remember her name) she was so helpful and kind. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning!

What a beautiful, quirky house. The space in this old victorian has been utilized to its best. We were all charmed by it when we walked in the door! The water pressure in the showers was better than expected in a house this age. The multiple tables allowed us space to eat, space for a puzzle and space for games. The home is an easy walk to town. Twin Lakes is a 25 minute drive that is worth doing. Turquoise Lake is nearby too and also worth going to. We enjoyed dinner at Quincy's. Ice Cream downtown was delicious. A great stay in a beautiful, well equipped house.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the house and made the most of your stay. It’s wonderful that you had a chance to explore the area and enjoy some local favorites. We'd love to welcome you back anytime!
The house was as described. We were a group of 9, ranging in age from 8 to 77. Plenty of room for all. The house was nicely decorated in the Victorian style of the home. Wish there would have been a history of the home somewhere to read. The only issue was there was no window covering on one of the second floor bedroom windows and no information on where to deposit garbage and recycling when we were ready to leave. All in all a very nice house.
