We had the pleasure of staying at the historic Balfour house in Bath On. The communication with both the owner and property manager was excellent. The loved the decor and lots of cozy charm from it's original build. we would recommend this place highly.
We took advantage of the local attractions and stores nearby.
Home met our needs - clean comfy beds, workable kitchen, good common space. Would have appreciated lawn being cut and outdoor chairs being cleaned off. “Laundry” not really true amenity as it’s in separate basement area accessible underneath porch that required another code from property manager to access. Propery Manager - Bond - was awesome. Great communication.
House was clean, beds great, updated kitchen and bathroom wonderful. Living room could have better chairs.Good table for eating, but not crazy about plastic chairs.BBQ was great to have but no implements to use. Veranda ok, but wicker settee had dirty pillow on it. Fire pit in backyard had no kindling not everyone great with an axe. Four old folding chairs, two broke as soon as someone sat on them, two wooden benches, one broke when sat on. Post of back railing came away in my hand, wood rotten. Overall good stay but refinements required for outdoor use.
This historic home is located in the centre of the village. You can walk to the restaurants and grocery store. We really liked the location as a home-base for cycling in the area. The home was super clean. Beds and pillows comfortable. Lots of towels provided. The check-in instructions should have described where to park, the gate, and which door to use. The property manager replied promptly when we had a problem with the entry code. The post says that it sleeps 6 people but there is only seating for 4 - we were a group of 3 so not a problem for us but extra folding chairs might be useful for other guests. We had to strip the beds and take out the garbage. I know that this is not unusual but for the price and extra cleaning fee I was not expecting this. Also, for the dishes, it would have better to be able to put them in the dishwasher, turn it on and check-out rather than having to wash and dry them by hand and put them away before leaving. There were a few food items (e.g. spices, coffee, tea etc.) but no salt, pepper or cooking oil which would have been nice. Lastly the bathroom should be supplied with hand soap. Overall it is a great place and I would stay here again and recommend it to others.
