Really enjoyed this lovely spot. Very nice to sit out on the porch and take it in the view with dinner and a drink. Also drive down to the beach and had a nice walk.
My partner and I stayed here as a little getaway for our 2 year anniversary, and we loved it! The space was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfy, and overall it was a great place to recharge and relax. The two dogs were a very friendly welcoming committee.
Our stay here was twofold. One: quality time together and Two: a tryout for the young dogs in a boarding kennel not far away. The last night the dogs stayed with us.
The bach was awesome. Very well laid out and complete. If anything, we couldn’t find any ice cube trays so our G&T was a bit make do. For the rest just great. Hear the moreporks at night, swim in the river at Pots Reserve. Best kept secret: Kuku Beach. Don’t go there folks to keep it a secret 😁

I grew up, up the Otaki Gorge, the land which my cottage is situated was part of the farm which I grew up on, the main farm belongs to my cousin who farms sheep and beef. I love the gorge the stunning countryside, the river and the peacefulness of it, you get a lovely view from the veranda of the hills. I enjoy gardening which is obvious in the gardens surrounding the property. Due to all the native trees, we have lots of native birds, the bird chorus is something special to wake up to in the morning. I enjoy people and love meeting my guests I continue to communicate with many of my previous guests. A special, is the outside bath which everyone loves, lying in it under the stars in this peaceful setting is amazing. I have 2 dogs which are Cocker Spaniels Jess and Murph, they are always keen to meet my guests they are harmless just very friendly. Guests are able to bring their pets, there is a $20 surcharge, the property is surrounded by an electric fence. My cousin farms the land surrounding the cottage, the fence is to keep the sheep and cattle in, but you do need to be aware and don't touch the fence. As you can imagine my dogs are cunning and have learnt how to get under the fence. I have two B and B's and really enjoying having them available for guests this is the smaller of the two. Enjoy your stay.
Why they chose this property
I chose this area because I really enjoy living up the gorge and sharing this experience with others. You do need to be aware it can sometimes be a few degrees cooler than in town we are close to the Taraua's which do get snow on. But my uncle and cousin call it paradise. The good thing is the property is protected from the Southerly by the hills and as my grandfather often said "We dont get much rain if its a Southerly. Coming up the gorge road you get to drive through the famous Totara Tunnel. Totara trees have always been common in this area.
What makes this property unique
The peacefulness and beauty of the property, make it unique, this is generally only disturbed by the bird calls and farm animals. You will see from the booklet provided in the cottage we have lots of different birds from the bossy Tui's to the fantails, Heron's and noisy Plovers.
