The Neighborhood: Pipes Canyon, a neighborhood within Pioneertown, is one of the most unique communities in the High Desert. It sits amidst a breathtaking tableau of the craggy mountains and flat-top buttes that make up Pioneertown Mountain Preserve, which offers excellent hiking and exploring options.
Pioneertown is located within a short drive of many restaurants, shops, and things to do. The West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is 20 minutes away by car, but you’ll also want to enjoy these area highlights:
• Yucca Valley (10-minute drive) - Convenient stop for chain stores and local eateries, like Carla's Route 62 Diner and C & S Coffee Shop.
• Joshua Tree Village - Quirky strip of boutiques and restaurants, including Coyote Corner, Space Cowboy Books, and the rustic Joshua Tree Saloon.
• Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum (25-minute drive) - As far from a stuffy gallery as you can imagine, this outdoor sculpture garden contains a unique collection of folk-art.
• The Integratron (25-minute drive) - New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.
• Palm Springs (45-minute drive) - Artsy town known for vintage shopping, art galleries, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
• Mt. San Jacinto State Park (90-minute drive) - Expansive, hilly landscape with foot and horseback trails surrounding 10,834-foot Mount San Jacinto.
Of course, let’s not forget about the essentials. Everything you need is within close driving distance: • Closest supermarket: Vons (13-minute drive) • Closest pharmacy: Rite Aid Pharmacy (13-minute drive) • Closest gas station: Sinclair (9-minute drive)

We loved our stay. What a gorgeous home and magical property. Little touches like blankets for outdoor lounging, thoughtful welcome gifts, and an abundance of coffee made us feel right at home. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and hope to come back when the weather is warmer to enjoy the pool. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you loved your stay and appreciated the little touches. It means a lot to us that you felt right at home. We’d love to welcome you back when the weather is warmer so you can fully enjoy the pool. Hope to host you again soon!
Every aspect was immaculate. A very considered layout paired with an exquisite site made this an ideal getaway for us. Would highly recommend for parties of 1-4. Particularly those with a design sensibility. The HM team just do not miss.

Thank you so much for your glowing review Brett! We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back very soon :)
My wife and I spent 3 days at Horse Around in Pioneertown and really enjoyed our stay. House was everything billed and more. Beautiful setting, amazing amenities, and just far enough off the grid to to truly recharge. No expense was spared and we had a wonderful time in this house.Unexpected snow caused a few unavoidable logistical challenges, but we were able to work through them all reasonably well under the circumstances. It's what you get when you are vacationing off grid in such a beautiful place like this - definitely made the trip more of an adventure.I did reach out to Homestead Modern to cover a few of those unique weather issues proactively so that others who might run into similar challenges might learn from our experience. While the Director of Guest Relations listened, I did not feel she was truly grasping the important feedback I was providing. When I asked to speak directly her supervisor (whom I found out was the CEO), I was told he was not willing to speak to me and that my feedback was appreciated and duly noted. As a paying customer (and business owner myself), I was disappointed that he was unwilling to speak to me directly about a property his organization manages. Terrible business practice in my opinion and left a bad taste in my mouth as a paying customer. End of day, my wife and I would definitely come back to Horse Around for well needed R&R. Its an awesome break from reality, and one I'd highly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re so glad you and your wife enjoyed your stay at Horse Around and appreciated the home, its amenities, and the unique setting.
That said, I’d like to provide some context regarding our post-stay conversations. As the Director of Guest Relations, I personally spent a significant amount of time speaking with you over the phone and via text to understand your concerns and work toward a resolution. Despite my best efforts to offer fair compensation, you continued to expand your requests, eventually seeking a 50% refund. When I explained that I was the decision-maker regarding guest resolutions, you insisted on speaking with my CEO.
Even though I rarely reach out to my CEO for guest resolutions, I did so because you mentioned that that would go a long way in resolving your concerns. My CEO and I carefully reviewed all of our communications with you and the details of your stay. Given the significant amount of time I had already spent working with you to reach a fair outcome, he trusted my judgment and declined further discussion. Your review appears to be in response to that decision rather than a reflection of your overall stay, which, as you stated, was wonderful and something you’d recommend to others.
Additionally, I must note that you brought dogs to the property, and unfortunately, they left a significant mess, requiring professional carpet cleaning after your departure. While we strive to accommodate all guests, we also ask for mutual respect in maintaining the home for future visitors.
We appreciate your stay and your recommendation of Horse Around, and while we understand that not every resolution meets every guest’s expectations, we always act in good faith to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all.
Sincerely,
Homestead Modern
