Nestled in the hamlet of Penwortham in the heart of the Clare Valley this quaint, unique cottage (circa 1896) is set well back from the main road. Magpie Lane Cottage is situated only metres from the Riesling Trail. Drive, cycle or walk to some of the best winery cellar doors and restaurants the beautiful Clare Valley has to offer. Enjoy the abundant birdlife (including Bob, our resident magpie) and watching sunsets from the deck in this peaceful and tranquil setting.

A lovely weekend in the Clare Valley

The cottage is well appointed with many thoughtful touches. It is set well back from the main highway in semi bush. The resident magpies provided lots of laughs.

Our week at Magpie Lane Cottage was absolute perfection. Stunning cottage with every amenity and special touch you could imagine. Location is superb, and near everything in the Clare Valley. A beautiful cosy retreat!

We had a FABULOUS stay at Magpie Cottage. It was impeccably clean, cosy and the ultimate Clare Valley retreat. Beautifully presented and all the amenities you need! The bathroom is DIVINE! Beautiful tub and fit out. We had an absolute ball staying here and just a stone throws away (with car) from the most amazing wineries and restaurant (Watervale) you would desire!! We WILL BE Bck!!

The Property was very clean and well stocked with kitchen, bathroom and laundry equipment. The property is located centrally in the wine region with most cellar doors 10-15mins drive. It is also half way between the town of Clare in the north and Watervale/Auburn in the south. The hosts were fantastic, always communicated well. Highly recommend this property to 1-2 couples to stay for a great Clare experience. They have even have bikes to use for the Riesling Trail.

Why they chose this property

Penwortham is in the heart of the Clare Valley close to some of the best Wineries in the area. The cottage is next door to the Riesling trail. If you enjoy cycling, there is plenty room for your bikes.

What makes this property unique

Our cottage was built in 1896 in Bridgewater in the Adelaide Hills. It was transported to the Clare Valley in 2010 and has been renovated for modern living. It is surrounded by bushland and birdlife.
