About this property
Holiday Home close to Dalpura Beach and Boat Ramp.
🌿 Welcome to Kardinia - Your Relaxed Island Escape
Nestled among native eucalypts and just a short 7 to 10 minute walk to beautiful Dalpura Beach and the boat ramp, Kardinia is your easy-going home away from home on Macleay Island. In the opposite direction, only 5 to 7 minutes on foot, you’ll find a canoe and kayak launch point at Oomool Street/Golden Sands Boulevard, also a great spot to drop a crab pot or soak up the sensational views across to Stradbroke Island.
With cycle-friendly roads and an off-road bike path running much of the island’s length, it’s a wonderful place to explore on two wheels.
🏡 The Cottage
Kardinia is a charming, no-fuss three-bedroom Aussie beach cottage with a fresh coastal feel. It’s perfect for guests who appreciate simplicity, comfort and a relaxed island vibe rather than high-end luxury.
The home includes:
A detached sleep-out with TV, air conditioning and ceiling fans
Air-conditioned lounge room
Ceiling fans in every room
Bedroom 2 has bunk beds and a pull-out trundle, which is ideal for families.
While Kardinia isn’t about resort-style finishes, it offers everything you need to unwind, slow down and enjoy island life at your own pace.
Outdoor sensor lighting and compliant smoke alarms provide peace of mind during your stay.
Please read all headings and 'Rooms and Space' descriptions carefully before booking to ensure the property is the right fit and that expectations align with Kardinia Holiday Home.
🌅 Island Living at Its Best
Wake to the gentle dawn chorus of birds and wind down at sunset as the Curlews call in around happy hour. There’s something special about reconnecting with nature here and it’s hard to believe you’re just 1.5 hours from Brisbane and only 25 minutes give or take by Sealink Ferry to Victoria Point’s shops, restaurants and cinemas (don’t forget your Go Card, it’s only 50 cents each way!).
Dalpura Beach is perfect for families, with calm, shallow waters and stunning sunsets. Kayaks are available on request for adventurous guests. Prefer to relax? Float on an inflatable ring and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Nearby Pats Park offers enclosed swimming areas and BBQ facilities, ideal for picnics and family gatherings. Fishing and crabbing are part of island life, so bring your rod, yabby pump and head to the jetty.

About the host
Hosted by Brigid
During the pandemic, I discovered Macleay Island and fell in love with the beauty and simplicity of island life. After travelling extensively around the world, both personally and through more than 30 years working in aviation as a cabin manager, I found my paradise right on my doorstep, who would have thought? For many years, I sailed around the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and was always drawn to their beauty, and Macleay’s friendly community and peaceful setting truly captured my heart. I place strong importance on good customer service and mutual respect. Guests will always be treated fairly, and in return, my home is expected to be respected and left in a satisfactory condition, in line with the house rules, so that everyone can enjoy the island experience.
Why they chose this property
I chose Macleay Island for the bay island lifestyle; the simplicity, natural beauty and peaceful pace of life are truly special. Yet it’s close to Brisbane, so you get the best of both worlds: a serene island escape just a short distance from the city.
What makes this property unique
