ACTIVITIES
Activities around Moonridge ♡
bblcode@citybigbearlake.com
There are many sledding sites in the neighborhood.
There are multiple hiking / riding trail heads in the moonridge area.
1)Truck Trail (approx. 1.2 miles away from cabin)
Truck trail is a good trail for for 4x4 vehicles and for offroading vehicles. This trail is mainly recommended for adults and I wouldn't recommend this trail for families with young children.
2)Bristlecone Trail (approx. 1.3 miles from cabin)
Bristlecone Trail is 2.9 miles long and is recommended for families of all ages and for beginner level hikers.
3)Woodland Trail (approx. 3.9 miles from cabin)
Woodland Trail is a 2 mile long dog friendly trail. This trail has beautiful views and is by far the most scenic trail in Moonridge. Woodland Trail also is recommended for families of all ages.

Wonderful stay!
This ended up being the perfect house for our new year's and birthday getaway! Marilyn was a great host, and she added so many extra special touches to make it a home away from home that we really appreciated. The house was very clean, and had multiple areas that we could spend as a family, or for each person to have private time for themselves. We hope to stay here again on our next visit to Big Bear!

Enjoyed Our Stay In This Great Home
This home was extremely clean and easily accommodated our family of four. The owners (Marilyn and Miguel) where very communicative and responsive, which made handling the accommodations for this vacation super easy. We had a great ski trip to Big Bear and would be happy to stay at this home again.

Beautiful cabin, but very steep stairs
Marilyn clearly takes great care of the cabin. It was clean and had so many special touches that we enjoyed. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. However, we did not feel like we were properly informed about the 35 steep stairs to get from the driveway to the front door to enter the cabin. We had giant coolers and large suitcases that took 3 adults to pull up the steps. Thank goodness it hadn't snowed recently, because it probably would have been an impossible task. Once everything was safely in the cabin, though, we had a lovely time. Thank you Marilyn!

About the host

Hosted by Marilyn/Miguel

Host profile image
Our family enjoys the recreational opportunities and environmental aspects available in the area, hence, we decided to purchase a cabin. Our challenge was to create a pleasant living space, with all the amenities a guest would need and normally have in their home. Cleanliness is important; I want people to not have to think about whether or not their bed sheets/pillows/throws are clean. Visitors can enjoy the close proximity of this cabin to the Bear Mountain, while surrounded by the native flora and fauna, and amenities/tools needed to provide hands-on educational experience for children.

Why they chose this property

This cabin sits high up on Moonridge providing a wonderful view! The setting is private, tranquil and relaxing. The air is clean. Several species of birds (250 in Big Bear) can be seen flying and perching on the Oak and Pine Trees surrounding the large decks.
The front of the cabin has floor to ceiling windows allowing you a picturesque view of the forest and mountains from both the main floor and loft. The decks are extensive and allow for a wide range of viewing. Bear Mountain, with Southern California's only halfpipes is just down and around the corner. Big Bear also provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail, The Woodland Trail "Easy" at 534-556 Woodland Rd, Cougar Crest Trail "Moderate" at CA-38W, and Snow Summit Trail "Easy" at 899 Summit Blvd. The Big Bear Discovery Center also has a short, .5 miles, nature trail "moderate" at 40971 N Shore Drive, is also close by.

What makes this property unique

There are three unique living spaces:
1). The ground floor has a wet bar and an authentic rock gas fireplace which gives out a lot of heat in the sitting area for those warming up after skiing.
2).The main floor has a wood burming fireplace in the living room, and large floor to ceiling windows for an expansive view, and
3). The top level is the loft, a quaint area with new carpet and view, can be utilized as a play/reading area.
With over 1400 sq ft it provides lots of living space. Furnishings in the living room include leather rocking/recliners, a sofa, child's table/chairs (will bring it out when requested). Both high speed internet (60mbps), wifi and cable, with Netflix. Visitors are welcome to share candles, condiments, and paper towels/tissue. Science activities (magnetism, bird guides, magnification boxes, DNA molecular building kits, SMART games) are available for preschool up through and including sophomore level.
