About the host
Hosted by Lisa Rowett-Smith
Hi Im Lisa and live with my husband Graham on our 10 acre small holding, next door to the cottages. We enjoy welcoming guests to Meadowbeck and are on hand for advice/assistance but do give guests their privacy to get on with their stay in their own way.
We have 2 very friendly dogs, 2 donkeys who are out in the paddock from late Spring to Autumn, 2 goats, 4 sheep, chickens and ducks.
We moved here in 2012 and renovated our 1760's agricultural stone barn into 3 holiday cottages, our utility barn into a games room and added 3 Shepherd Huts - 1 near the barn and 2 off-grid in our meadow.
Graham planted lots of apple trees and now enjoys making Yorkshire Cider.
It has been an exhausting journey, a labour of love but we have managed to stay married to each other and wouldn't swap it for the world.
We're very proud of what we have achieved and our wonderful guest reviews support that we are providing a great service.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the area whilst visiting my parents who live nearby in Scarborough. We were keen to buy a property which allowed us to run a holiday cottage business but also gave us the opportunity to renovate a building ourselves and start the business from scratch.
We moved in July 2012 & started work on the barn, which had only housed Cows and Swallows since 1760.
We love living here surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors and looking out on our animal family every day. It's such a peaceful esape with great walks on the doorstop, yet close to amenities and the hustle and bustle of life when you need it.
It's great to share our dream with our guests and we love seeing guests return to Meadowbeck - even the Swallows return year after year!
