About the host

Hi Im Lisa and live with my husband Graham on our 10 acre small holding, next door to the cottages. We enjoy welcoming guests to Meadowbeck and are on hand for advice/assistance but do give guests their privacy to get on with their stay in their own way.
We have 2 very friendly dogs, 2 donkeys who are out in the paddock from late Spring to Autumn, 2 goats, 4 sheep, chickens and ducks.
We moved here in 2012 and renovated our 1760's agricultural stone barn into 3 holiday cottages, our utility barn into a games room and added 3 Shepherd Huts - 1 near the barn and 2 off-grid in our meadow.
Graham planted lots of apple trees and now enjoys making Yorkshire Cider.
It has been an exhausting journey, a labour of love but we have managed to stay married to each other and wouldn't swap it for the world.
We're very proud of what we have achieved and our wonderful guest reviews support that we are providing a great service.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the area whilst visiting my parents who live nearby in Scarborough. We were keen to buy a property which allowed us to run a holiday cottage business but also gave us the opportunity to renovate a building ourselves and start the business from scratch.
We moved in July 2012 & started work on the barn, which had only housed Cows and Swallows since 1760.

We love living here surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors and looking out on our animal family every day. It's such a peaceful esape with great walks on the doorstop, yet close to amenities and the hustle and bustle of life when you need it.
It's great to share our dream with our guests and we love seeing guests return to Meadowbeck - even the Swallows return year after year!

What makes this property unique

Meadowbeck Holiday Cottages are in a great location. Stunning countryside and moorland views, as well as the beautiful coastline - what more is there?
Easy to access just off the main A171 Scarborough to Whitby road, yet in a quiet, peaceful area within the North Yorkshire Moors.
All accommodation has views of open countryside & the sea. There is an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep and the lack of light pollution gives us some amazing night skies - perfect for star gazing. We regualrly feed the birds, so that guests can enjoy their antics on the birdfeeders and nesting boxes.
Easy access by car or bus (from the top of our lane) to a number of quaint villages and coastal towns.
There is plenty of free parking directly outside of the cottages for easy access.
We're doing our bit to take care of the environment and have an energy efficient heating source, solar panels and our water is provided from a natural spring. Our meadow is organic with an abundance of wildflowers and we manage our woodland area to encourage the wildlife.
Electric Vehicle Charger for guests use - fees apply.
Storage for cycles.
Public Footpath with walks to the moors and coast - straight from the accommodation.
Guests Games Room onsite.
