Why they chose this property
This house offers the best of both worlds, a cosy house in a very quiet, rural setting, yet close to a lovely city and close to Connemara and other tourist attractions.
If you want a quiet retreat, yet near a busy cosmopolitan city, this is the property for you. It is a great base to explore Galway city and Connemara. It is close to Cong, Ashford Castle, and many tourist destinations. Lost of lovely walks by the lake, access to great fishing and many more activities. We have a private pier beside the house - about 20 metres from the front door, and we can provide details for boat rental etc.
If you want quietness in a peaceful setting, this is it! The road the house is on has very few houses, and is a cul de sac. The closeness to the lake offers a tranquility that is seldom found these days.
It is close to Galway city and Connemara, both great tourist destinations with a myriad of things to do. Also nearby is Ross Errilly Friary - the best preserved Monastic ruin from the 14th century, and the quaint village of Cong and Ashford Castle are also close by. Galway is a major attraction in Ireland and a great travel destination. Do a web search for 'Galway tourism' - there is a huge amount to do in Galway city and the environs.
The house has panoramic views of Lough Corrib and the Connemara mountains. The location of the house offers the best of both worlds – a peaceful, quiet setting, and very close to Galway city and Connemara.

What makes this property unique
Food & Wine Review of Connemara -
Connemara is often described as ‘the heart of Ireland’ in tourism terms. Barely a dozen kilometres westward of Galway City, ..... where the land rises slowly among fish-filled rivers and lakes until suddenly the terrain soars to become that most elegant mountain range. The ever-changing beauty of Connemara has a unique effect on the human soul, as witnessed by the many artists, writers and musicians for whom this place is their muse.
New York Times review of Galway city:
Galway might be Ireland’s most charming city: compact, walkable and filled to the brim with independent shops and restaurants that walk the fine line between cool and kitsch. Cozy, old-fashioned pubs showcase the city’s ever-growing selection of craft beers, chefs serve up west-of-Ireland ingredients in creative new ways, and almost every building housing a modern cafe or new atelier has a centuries-old story behind it.
Guardian review of Galway city:
Have no fear … Galway is regarded as one of the safest and most-relaxed cities in Ireland. The "capital" of the ancient Irish western province of Connaught is also something of a cosmopolitan spot, with a fifth of its population falling into the non-Galwegian category ... Galway is known in Ireland as the "city of festivals", with a season that climaxes in the arts festival. .... whenever you arrive, you will probably find a festival, literary event or cultural shingdig going on.
