Our family really enjoyed the week in this wonderful cottage. The view was amazing and we were swimming and paddeling in the lake every day. The cottage has everything a family needs. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for choosing to return to the cottage for your time away. It has been a pleasure to host you and have you become part of our cottage family. Hope to have you join us again soon.
We just stayed here the past weekend and were very impressed again. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable and clean. Beautiful quiet lake to enjoy some water activity and quiet time. The host, Kiki, was excellent with communication and helpful with any questions. I would highly recommend. Thanks Kiki for a great weekend.

We are only legally permitted to accommodate 6 people at this property. Definitely NOT 10.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thankfully Leah had been there when we got there because coming from the US we did not receive the door code. Otherwise we couldn't have had a better trip. we will be returning in the near future>
Beautiful place, area and surroundings. The cottage has everything a family need. Practically you are staying at a fully furnished home. Just bring your own towels and bed sheets and covering, thats all. Gas station/General store is in less than 5 minutes drive away. The cottage sits on the bank of a beautiful small lake. Kids swam and kayaked. A cone comes with the cottage as well. The one and the only one thing we had trouble with was the wifi kept dropping. The communication with the owners was prompt and quick. She made all in her power to help us with the wifi but i guess it wasn't meant for us this time. Overall we had a blast. Definitely this place will be visited again by our family.
Thanks

cabin in the woods
This cabin was lovely in many ways. Its best feature is the proximity to the lake, large yard with fire pit, pet friendly, free of bugs (inside:), and plenty of space. The place is not as ideal as we had hoped considering the close proximity to the highway (constant sound of cars driving by), and aspects of the cabin's cleanliness (we found a 3" fish tail on the floor, a week old dead mouse in a trap, and the couch smelled of urine).
I don't want to imply that this cabin had no value - it did. We had a lovely time. The host was extremely easy to deal with, friendly, quick to respond to questions, and kind. I would suggest a more thorough cleaning (considering the cleaning fee) and a new couch. Regardless we found the space to be over priced considering what is available in the region - but a cabin on a lake is always a beautiful thing.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our cottage of both areas that we are doing great on, and areas that require improvement. I have reviewed with our housekeeper the items that will require extra care and attention which will be taken care of right away. We trust that in the event that you choose to give us another chance to make you comfortable, we will hit your satisfaction mark completely.
The chalet is spacious enough for 6 People. Il is a peaceful place. The owner responds quickly if there is a spécial need. We had a great week and we recommend this place.
Property was beautiful . cottage was okay but not great. Overpriced . owner was not forthcoming with certain issues. Boats over 10ft can not go in water safely . dock too shallow and private beach was non existent . bbq old and very dirty and only wood burning stove to heat . when concerns brought to owners attention she basically said too bad not my problem . we left 36hrs early because of issues and were not even offered partial refund for the day we had no power or water. Were not told until the night we arrived that there was only wood burning stove to heat . we said we had a boat and it was 18ft and she said ya no problem . needless to say the boat. Could not be docked at our cottage cause it was too shallow . window leaked when it rained as well as the fireplace stack . all issues we brought to owners attention . not recommended

First off, Thank you so much for bringing to my attention that the roof patch that was recently done did not fix the problem. I’m sending someone up to take another look at it again.
In your communication with me, you’d complained that you didn’t like the bbq scraper. We’re careful about a scrapers with metal tines, as it has proven to be a health hazard. Instead we provide 3 different types of bbq scrubbers that are not health hazards for our guests. It’s true the bbq is older, but still functional. I have also gone over the cleaning of it with our cleaning crew. Just to be extra cautious, the bbq has been replaced.
As soon as Hydro One had announced that there would be a planned power outage between 8am-2pm, you were informed immediately, so that you’d be able to plan around it. To further assist, we offer a hot water carafe to keep water hot, a French Press to make coffee, as well as bbq with side-burner, and wood stove for heat and additional cooking options. You’re instructed to bring drinking water, and for the other needs, the lake is less than 10’ from the cottage, we provide 2 buckets. Restaurants are also in the area.
As for heating the cottage, there is an unlimited supply of seasoned dry firewood supplied as well as a radiant heater as a backup. I had offered to send someone over to you to help light the wood stove and even checked in to see that you had enough blankets just in case you were unprepared. You had declined both.
I was not informed of any windows leaking until just now. I’ve lived in this cottage for most of the spring, and have not noticed a leaking window. I’d like to know which one so that I can get it fixed.
The beach is as described, and you can even see the pics of it. We’re not permitted to change the shoreline.
The real issue here is actually the large boat that you brought and wanted a refund for. When you had asked upon booking, I told you that the lake is a small lake right away. You were informed that there was no formal boat launch, however could launch where the locals do. Instead of exploring the large lakes in the area that I had suggested, you went to another shallower lake.
A dock is provided where other guests that opt to bring their own boats tie onto. I provide a quiet cottage in the woods on a small lake with a canoe. Additional water-crafts such as SUP boards, kayaks, canoes and life jackets delivery can be arranged with a local outfitter.
The cottage has been provided as advertised.
The lake was beautiful. We loved the loons. Although the cottage was adequate, the beds leave much to be desired. A portable air conditioner would have been a great asset as well.

Thank you so much Helen! I am delighted that you had enjoyed your stay with us.
I grew up at Zum Waldhaus cottage rental and bed and breakfast. Having many fond memories of Cardiff Lake, my husband and I decided to purchase them in 2012 from my father. Currently I am an artist and art teacher, and offer art and yoga retreats throughout the year. I live in Orillia with my family where I have my studio.
Why they chose this property
Having grown up here, I always loved the magic of the forest and lake. The smell of the ferns, the sound of the loons, the fresh air and the trees bring me to my happy place every time. I love cycling along the rail trail, I love swimming, hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There are many places that are beautiful throughout Canada that I have enjoyed but this will always be home.
What makes this property unique
Its the view of the lake in all of the seasons that do it for me. I can't wait to dive into the water each morning. Also watching the baby loons grow up each day a little more. There are some time periods in the winter when the forest is so silent that my ears ring. Oh and the stars! There are so many stars! Sometimes I have even seen northern lights.
