About this property
Gondolieri Luxury Apartment
‘And silent rows the songless gondolier’ – Lord Byron
And awaiting your arrival… the sublime ‘Gondolieri’
Ushering in one of VOV’s most ambitious and successful restorations to date and raising the quality of our portfolio to unprecedented heights, we proudly embrace new apartment ‘Gondolieri’ and needless to say we’re delighted with our new recruit!
Perfectly placed for lovers of the ‘real Venice’ between Dorsoduro’s Guggenheim Collection and the waters of the Zattere promenade, this super-chic apartment with its sun-kissed southern aspect sleeps 6 guests in accommodation arranged over 2 floors.
A sumptuous retreat for hanging loose with your companions and a place where precious ‘me-time’ can come top of your list, Gondolieri’s deluxe interior is the last word in refinement and has every creature comfort ready and waiting to be enjoyed.
Moorish in design yet Venetian in spirit, and entered by way of its own private doorway on the sleepy little ‘Calle Navaro’ in the dreamily sedate district known as ‘Incurabili’, this pretty Venetian ‘casa’ is the culmination of the link-up between ace architects ArchFlorence and the team at VOV.
Fittings and furnishings are truly exquisite and will resonate with guests who are only used to the very best – from plush designer textiles, superb hand-crafted finishes and wonderful lighting in all the right places, to pristine new bathrooms, all mod cons in the kitchen and beds carefully chosen to promise a blissful night’s sleep – and all of this crowned with a very special ‘altana’ terrace offering views across rooftops to the Campanile at St. Mark’s.
Tasteful, original and flooded with light, this remarkable new property offers Wi-Fi and air-conditioning* throughout, and comprises
An independent entrance and vestibule hallway on the ground floor with a staircase rising up to the apartment’s
First floor and home to:
A bright and beautiful sitting room with elegant eau-de-nil ‘Venetian Marmorino’ polished plaster walls, ample seating, and whitewashed beams paired with whitewashed timber flooring
A dining area just to the side seating up to 6 guests in stylishly upholstered chairs around a circular dining table beside a feature wall decorated in Cole & Son’s ‘Palm’ wall-covering
A well-equipped and custom-built fully fitted kitchen in a bespoke teal green with travertine worktops and a Miele oven and fridge
An exceptionally stylish beamed master bedroom resplendent in smart Tapet-Cafe ‘Deco Fan’ wallpaper and fabric, and with a double bed, a mirrored wardrobe, and its own bathroom with Bisazza mosaic, bathtub and shower over
A sweet and very charming 2nd bedroom in a powder-blue reminiscent of the hues of the Moroccan village of Chefchaouen near Tangier and furnished with a French size (small double) bed, a mirror-and-fretwork-fronted wardrobe, & with an en-suite bathroom in mocha Marmorino with a shower encased in lapis and clay colour Moroccan-themed tiling
A staircase with an attractive (and original) wrought-iron wooden-topped balustrade rising to the
Second floor where you’ll find:
Decorated on a boating theme - a further spacious sitting / TV room beneath the eaves with a writing desk / study area and a super-large and comfortable double sofa-bed in smart herringbone upholstery
Gondolieri’s 3rd bedroom in a cheery tangerine orange with a well-dressed double bed (which can be split into twins upon your request) and a pair of fabric-lined wardrobes resting beneath ancient burnished timbers
A further bathroom in blue Marmorino with bathtub and separate shower reached via a quaint little ‘bridge’ with balustrade crossing over the stairway below
A few steps rising to the rooftop and to -
The superb restored ‘altana’ terrace – fully furnished for relaxing after long walks about town and enjoying a glass of chilled Prosecco in the sun…
Are you part of a larger group who would like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer another apartment in this building: La Baruffa (with its own private garden!)
OUR COMMENT
A Venetian Golden Oldie becomes the Hip Kid in Town!
A wonderful new apartment (even though we say so ourselves ;), meticulously restored to provide the most pleasurable combination of luxury and charm possible, and featuring fittings and furnishings carefully selected, designed and made to measure to make the surroundings and ambience as bright, cheerful (and as enjoyable!) as can be.
A short amble to the iconic Church of the Salute and to the Punta Della Dogana Center of Contemporary Art at Dorsoduro’s eastern tip, and close to a fine variety of eating places and bars including Ai Gondolieri and Ristorante Rivierafor fine dining, and Osteria Al Squero and Cantinone Gia Schiavi for cicheti and spritz.
An easy waterside stroll to the Conad supermarket at the western end of the Zattere, to 4 vaporetto (water bus) stops – Zattere Spirito Santo, Zattere, Salute and Accademia – for travel around the city (note that St. Mark’s Square can be reached by vaporetto from Salute in under 5 minutes on Line 1!), and also close to the ‘traghetto’ at Calle Lanza/Calle del Traghetto S. Gregorio which, during operating hours, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the district of San Marco.
Also within easy reach of the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.

About the host
Hosted by Views On Venice & Dimora Italia

Introducing Dimora Italia – a new arrival on the international luxury hospitality scene offering approx. 40 exclusive and prestigious short-rental properties in Italy. The result of the evolution of Views on Venice, Dimora Italia was born of the desire to expand into destinations beyond Venice that are regularly requested by VOV clients. Founded by Filippo Gaggia – an enterprising Venetian with deep roots in the city – and backed by over 20 years’ experience in luxury rentals coupled with the exceptional service offered by his friendly, dedicated team, his wish that his clients feel the true spirit of Il Bel Paese ignited the initial spark and fuelled his ambition to establish ‘Dimora Italia’. Embracing top-tier properties in Venice and Florence – many designed by Dimora Italia in collaboration with design partners ArchFlorence – further city bases, including Rome and Milan, are planned for the future.
“We believe that the most rewarding travel experiences are those where you feel the true spirit of a place, where you feel fully immersed in your destination of choice. We look forward to welcoming you to our ravishing properties and introducing you to Italy as seen through our eyes.”
