Top Cot Cottage: comfortable, friendly, perfect in St Just!
This historic miners’ house, in a granite terrace built in 1860, has been fully refurbished to the highest standard as a perfect base to explore the spectacular Cornish coast and Lands End (Penwith) peninsular. Relax in the comfortable sitting room with its period features (including the original granite inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove), separate dining room or the sheltered sun-trap of the rear garden. The spacious upstairs main bedroom has a luxury king-sized bed, with 2 single beds in the adjacent small bedroom.
Named for its position, a quiet cul-de-sac in a conservation area at the head of the famously beautiful Cot Valley, Top Cot Cottage has everything you need for the holiday you want: from stunning sandy beaches and hidden coves, to walking the rugged coastal path, exploring the many picturesque remains of the mining industry or roaming the pre-historic landscape of the surrounding moorland. And the convenience of being only a 5 minute stroll from the compact centre of the small ancient mining town of St Just, with it’s pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops.

We really enjoyed our stay at this tiny, cosy, characteristic cottage in beautiful surroundings and lovely village of St Just. Tony was very friendly.

Amazing location and some very welcoming touches such as clotted cream tea waiting for us in arrival. Info is fantastic, but property could do with an update.

3 night stay
It was a lovely little cottage and was well-equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. The walk to Porth Nanven was gorgeous and there were lots of places to visit within a few miles of St Just We really enjoyed ourselves.
Good location and ideal for what we required at a good price. There was a strong smell of cats downstairs and the cottage could do with some updating. The BBQ we found was unusable. However for what we wanted it was perfect and good value.
We spent a few days in this house and enjoyed the beautiful countryside. Food and take away within walking distance. Walk to Cliff and Porth Nanven beach e.g. for sunset. Other lovely places within a short drive.
The house was as expected, warm welcome on arrival with scones and clotted cream.
Very nice cottage in old style of small cornwall houses, great starting point for short or long hiking tours or just a stay in a nice cafe in town. Tony is very responsive, caring and has really good insider information, where to go and where to eat oför buy staff.

Top Cot Cottage is a lovely Cornish cottage. It is well equipped with everything you need. St Just is a great village with a handful of shops and there are great walks nearby. We had a lovely short break and coastal walks in the sunshine.
Tony gave us all the information we needed to have a great holiday.
Bathroom needed attention and also woodwork on wooden sash windows could have done with cleaning and painting.Plug on the bedroom heater got very hot so didn't use!Plug in the bathroom sink didn't stay down so couldn't use. Bath panel had been patched up so needed new one. Floor looked as though there had been a flood at some point. Didn't feel comfortable in there!Having said all that we enjoyed our stay and the cream tea was a nice touch.
The cottage on first arriving was ok, an obviously older but very quaint cottage… Unfortunately after buying some meat from the local butchers and some food we discovered the oven and bbq were both unusable - they were absolutely filthy…. The bath was only usable after filling up with kettles - there was a shower, but I needed a hot soak after my 25 mile coastal challenge. The bed was clean and comfortable so I’m thankful for that.
Excellent location for easy exploration of the Cornish cape region, walking distance to coastal path, and amenities. Cottage is a no frills holiday rental. Some areas need a little attention -shower poor, back door locking , bath panel , but overall all good
The house is really brilliantly located in the village close to the shops and cafes but also an easy walk to the coast and exploration of the historic tin mining area.
We and our dogs enjoyed walks not having to go in the car, and the house provided everything we wanted to come back to.
Comfy beds, sharp knives in the kitchen - everything very relaxing

Thanks Nigel, and thank you for leaving Top Cot in such good shape.
This cottage is a beautiful quaint cottage which is exceptionally clean due to the efficient housekeeper Julia. Tony has the decor and furniture perfect. The beds were very clean with crisp linen and very comfy mattresses. It is very peaceful too. Plenty of parking just 2 mins walk away. We had a lovely welcome note and some scones and Tony made sure every need was catered for and was on hand to assist if necessary. We loved our stay and when we come back to Cornwall we shall re book here. It allows dogs but the house is so clean there is no evidence of previous dogs. My teenage son and dog loved it too.

Lorraine left the cottage in an immaculate state and was so very nice and polite.
Overall a nice place to stay. We had a bit of trouble settling in...wiping down streaky counters, purchasing laundry detergent for the washing machine, and toilet paper as there was only one roll and no tissues. The listing mentions a dryer as a popular amenity, but there was none. When you click to see all amenities it only lists a washer in the laundry category--this discrepancy in the listing should be corrected. This put a wrinkle in our plans as a washer and dryer were key to our long stay and altered our schedule to wait for our clothes to line dry. All that said, the bed was comfortable, we used the kitchen to cook dinner twice and found what we needed to make our meals. The co-op store was a great find and the area was beautiful!
This is a small miner's cottage (probably) suitable for a couple and 2 kids -- decent double bedroom with adequate storage and smallish bedroom with two small singles at right angles. There's a sitting room downstairs with a couple of recliners, a sofa, TV, and a wood-stove (didn't need/use it); a small dining room, plus a kitchen with electric hob, electric kettle, sink (frig and microwave in side ante-room); and a bathroom with bath with electric-shower over, basin and toilet, and washing machine (didn't need/use).
The plumbing is a bit primitive but everything works and the shower quite adequate, 3 electric radiators with thermostats keep the place warm and cosy, and the TV provides entertainment on rainy days.
There's a small garden at the West-facing rear, with a chair or two and a washing line.
I was given direct phone contact with the housekeeper (didn't need/use but very reassuring) and with the owner who was very helpful, and was keen to receive my feedback on a few minor quibbles that will probably be fixed on a next visit. Parking is outside front in terrace on a first-come, first-served basis, with overflow in the small Lafrowda car park at end of street (I always managed to find a spot). All in all a very functional, convenient, comfortable enough base for Coast Path walking and quick access to St Just shops/pubs and excellent cafes

Just a short break, 3 nights. Everything we needed to make our stay easy and comfortable. The dogs were very comfortable. Our host, Tony, provided excellent information, so there were no problems or issues on our arrival or for the duration of our stay. Fabulous location, so many things to see and do!
The cottage was clean, quiet, and just what we wanted for our first experience in Cornwall. The owner was quick to respond to questions. Easy walking distance to town center for local shops and restaurants.
A very quiet cottage. Easy parking ( even for 2 cars) and walking distance to shops and cafes. The small courtyard garden is chilly in the late afternoon, but if you have camping chairs go to end of road (a few yards) where there is evening sun and a view of the sea. The cottage was clean and comfortable.
