Lovely cottage with a beautiful conservatory. Very comfortable.
Great property to rent. Teenage daughters would have been grateful for a Wi-fi boost!!

Clay gone away from home
We absolutely loved our stay. Spacious yet cosy. We spent most of our time in the conservatory enjoying the sun and view. Very clean and the location was superb, not far from st Ives, lands end or lizards point (in all directions!)
We would absolutely stay here again!

Not good enough
We stayed here for my mother’s 60th and had high hopes based off the photos and reviews. We were sorely disappointed. The first thing we had to do upon arrival was hoover the ceiling of the conservatory as it was absolutely covered in cobwebs, dead flies and spiders, it was obvious no one had ever touched it. I’ve never stayed at a cottage where there wasn’t some sort of welcome basket before, but fine, if this place doesn’t do them, they don’t do them. I do expect, at a bare minimum for them to provide washing up liquid and bin bags! Nope, nothing. If you stay here, make sure to bring EVERYTHING for the kitchen - tea, coffee, salt, sugar, pepper, the aforementioned washing up liquid and bin bags, because nothing is provided. We also had to scrub one of the pans clean, as there was stuff encrusted into the bottom from a previous guest. Overall, a disappointing stay, they need to buck their ideas up.

Charming 1800's Cottage
I very much enjoyed staying in Balwest Cottage. The older part of the cottage is charming and cosy, and the newer conservatory is lovely and relaxing. It was a special time for me because my ancestors used to live in the cottage in the 1800’s, and I soon felt at home. Balwest is in a very rural area and is off the tourist track, which I loved, but also the beaches and tourist areas are only a five-minute drive away. There are many rural walks in the area, and the view from the top of the nearby Tregonning Hill is stunning.

A great week in Cornwall
Lovely spacious cottage in a pretty location. A good base to explore the far end of Cornwall. Plenty to do and see. Lots of different beaches within half an hours drive, all with lifeguards. Local eggs & vegetables for sale just up the road. A busy week spent exploring the area.

Holiday at Balwest
Excellent property which we couldn’t fault in any way. The pictures don’t do it justice! We would definitely book this again if we were going to Cornwall.

A gem of a place!
We stayed for a week with our 18m old daughter and dog and had the best time. The conservatory and large wrap around garden were the highlight for us and we spent all our time there.
The rooms are light and airy and spacious and the kitchen appliances are modern and work well.
Our only criticism is that the carpet is quite painful to walk on as it is like a front door mat type material. We had to buy slippers from the local supermarket as it was too uncomfortable to walk on.
Balwest cottage is perfect and we would love to stay there again!

Beautiful cottage, sea views and a good location to explore Cornwall
We really enjoyed our stay at Balwest Cottage. The cottage is great for all weather, lovely and cosy on wet days, and amazing sea views with a beautiful conservatory on sunny days. The location is great for exploring Penzance and Helston, but also in a quiet, historic location to get away from it all. Highly recommended.

Cosy bolthole
A lovely property, if tricky to find using satnav. Well furnished and spacious downstairs with a large conservatory. Nice stove which threw out a lot of heat. Only criticisms relate to the kitchen which lacked sufficient glasses, crockery and cooking equipment.

Winter break
We stayed here during one of the roughest weeks for weather, blowing a gale and pouring with rain. The cottage is very old and has two foot thick walls which were much appreciated!
Warm and cosy all the time there wasn't a power cut but this was down to a power cable being blown down and nothing to do with the standard of the cottage.
The conservatory is great as is the garden and I'm sure we would have used these a lot more in better weather.
Beds are comfortable and bedroom decor is a good standard.
Good wifi.
Niggles: we requested a starter log pack and got a few fire lighters and half a bag of kindling plus a wood burner that needed emptying before we could use it. The leather sofas are not comfortable - slippy and on the small side. The angle of the TV means only those sitting opposite can see it.
The shower leaks into the kitchen ceiling unless you put a few towels on the bathroom floor while showering.
Overall a lovely cottage that we would stay at again.
