Enjoy a relaxing stay at a quaint remodeled cabin on AuTrain Lake. This cabin is a wonderful getaway for a couple or families with young children. The floor has a slight tilt which could be a problem for elderly. Each day at this cabin will offer a variety of ways to relax or any number of recreational options. This cabin is a weekly rental from Saturday to Saturday.
Two bedrooms are available with full size beds in each and a fun loft with 2 twin beds. An indoor stone fireplace is available along with an outdoor fire pit for those evening bonfires. All the appliances are new and a fully outfitted kitchen is available. Sip your coffee at the kitchen countertop made from a giant white pine or on the comfortable lawn furniture in front of the lake.
Au Train Lake has a sandy bottom for swimming, tubing, waterskiing and boating. You can swim right in front of the cabin or take a one minute kayak to a sandbar for another swimming option that we named “ the cove”. A dock is available about 30 feet from the cabin door.
Fishing has been a big hit with catches of walleye, northern pike, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Four river kayaks are available for rental for $25/ kayak. Kayak in the Lake or take a float down the nearby Au Train River with its beautiful landscape of plants and wildlife to see like waterfowl, turtles and lily pads. Black Ducks, and Eagles are seen seasonally at the cabin along with meteor showers and fireflies. Fall asleep to the croaking of frogs and if you’re lucky you might wake up to the soothing sound of loons in the morning.
The AuTrain River outlet is a five minute kayak from the cabin. Canoe or kayak from the cabin down the Au Train River to one of several access points or the more adventurous could paddle all the way to Lake Superior. Lake Superior is 3 miles by road from the cabin along with Au Train's famous swimming area where the Au Train River dumps into Lake Superior. Many waterfalls are nearby along with the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising. This cabin offers relaxation or lots of activity options for each family member to enjoy.

Cabin was very clean. Plenty to do in the area and great place to come back and relax in. Very quiet area and super friendly people on the lake. Bring kayaks or rent them if you don’t bring them. The trip down the Au Train river is beautiful.
It was my self and 2 kids 21 & 17. We really enjoyed our stay. The lake is so beautiful and clean the house is in a perfect spot facing west so the sun sets are beautiful. We rented the property kayaks and I’m so happy we did. We kayaked from our cabin to Lake Superior, it took about 4 hours we absolutely loved the paddle. The house is great it’s not perfect as stated in the description but it’s clean and a great place to lay your head down at night. We utilized the fire pit pretty much every night. We will definitely be back
Loved our stay. It was so peaceful and quiet on the lake and the cottage was so close to Lake Superior (5 minute drive). The cottage was cuter than the pictures showed…I would definitely stay here again!!
My wife, dog, and I really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very clean and we enjoyed having a fire every night while watching the sunset over the lake. We love the Au Train/Munising area and plan on coming back.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin was cozy and neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. The location and close proximity to Pictured Rocks were great and we loved watching the sun set over the lake each night. Communication with the host was great and the cabin was tidy! Would definitely recommend or stay there again if we’re ever in the area!
We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful week! The cabin was so charming and clean! Fit our family perfectly! We enjoyed kayaking the lake and River- fished- had camp fires, and so much more! So close to the picture rocks national lakeshore and all the beautiful hiking, light houses, and waterfalls it has to offer! We would love to go back someday!
A good cabin nearby many different spots in the Munising / Marquette area. The lake is right there and is quite easy to launch a kayak.
Anne was super responsive and made things simple. Would rent again.
The cabin is exactly as advertised - cozy, on a lovely lake, very close to an excellent beach on Lake Superior. The floor is slightly tilted.
Given the location, I would suggest traveling when it is not bug season.
We didn't anticipate the floors to be so uneven or the stickiness of the bar. We loved the location, the outdoor space and that bedding and towels were provided. The building and room doors didnt shut properly we believe due to the unevenness of the floor. Also, we couldn't run both the microwave and coffee pot at the same time or the breaker would trip. The TV was smaller than expected. The dock would benefit from some attention.
Everything else was great!
This property was perfect for my family. The location was perfect for keeping my boat on the dock right outside the cabin. I never had to worry about rough water or winds damaging my boat. The location is tucked into a bay on the Northeast side of the lake. Right next to the mouth of the river, perfect for access by kayak.
This cabin is in a very quiet and calm section of Au Train Lake. We used our rented kayaks daily to explore Au Train Lake and river. Our 10 year old son enjoyed swimming in the lake which was shallow for a pretty good distance. Because one side of the foundation is sinking, the cabin does slant to one side. It took some time to get used to it but added to the charm of the place. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.
We had an awesome time staying at the property! It was extremely clean and the size was perfect for our needs. Location was also a plus as we traveled out to see different parks, waterfalls and other sites. Munising was a short drive for Pictured Rocks tours and great eats. Would recommend this location to others!
This cabin was clean and comfortable. The boat dock was nice to have on site so we didn’t have to trailer our boat back & forth. We enjoyed the campfires and spectacular sunsets! Close to pictured rocks and not to far to Grand Marias for rock hounding.
Cabin has everything you need for a cozy stay. Kitchen and bathroom has everything you need. Any kids you have would enjoy sleeping in the loft. Very private, as you are at the end of Perry Road. We used the outside fire pit three times. Someone a little further south does do some duck hunting at sunrise, which serves as an automatic alarm clock so you need to be ready for that.
