About this property
Countryside retreat with stunning views & pool
Old Stables is a grand house in the middle of the Chew Valley, overlooking the stunning Mendip foothills. Old Stables boast access to a heated indoor swimming pool with a hot tub, steam room & changing rooms. There are four luxury bedrooms, three are en-suite, comfortably sleeping eight people with additional small pull-out beds for three, plus a pair of sofa beds for four more in our spacious reception rooms.
Pictures don't do Old Stables justice, this situation is breathtaking!
To the left of the front door are two reception rooms, the breathtaking Garden Room with a Knowle sofa bed, a chaise longe, a pair of sofas, a pair of round tables and a highly polished, Victorian sideboard. The spacious Sitting Room has a pair of sofas, of which one is a sofa bed. There is a large 4K TV with a Wii, Android TV box and a Blu-ray player. Both rooms have French doors that lead to the garden.
Opposite the front door is a flight of stairs taking you to 3 luxury en-suite bedrooms. The largest is Chestnut - a super-king bed with a bijou pull-out bed, with a superb bathroom containing a freestanding slipper bath, walk-in shower and his 'n' hers basins. The next largest, Oak, has a super-king bed with a bijou pull-out bed. Oak's en-suite is a shower room. The cosy Silver Birch has a double bed and the en-suite has a freestanding bath and a separate shower.
Going to the right of the front door leads you to Damson, a small bedroom with full size bunk-beds and a bijou pull-out bed. There is access to a downstairs washroom.
The kitchen is extremely large with hand-made wooden units, granite worktop, slate floor, a 7 burner Smeg range, a dishwasher and a wooden dining table that comfortably seats 8. There is additional seating around the central island that seats 8 more. There are French doors leading to the patio overlooking the landscaped garden. The kitchen also leads to the shared laundry room which has a pair of washing machines, a pair of dryers and an additional dishwasher for those large parties!
In our grounds you will find a 200-year-old converted stables, a Georgian horse wash, a well, and a purpose built swimming pool. The pool complex houses a ten-metre swimming pool with a "Fluvo jet" to exercise against, a hot tub which takes 5 people (at a squeeze) a shower and steam cubicle, robes, slippers, spa towels, hair dryer. The temperature of the pool is 88 °F / 31 °C and the temperature of the hot tub is 101 °F / 38 °C. Bring your own CDs, use ours or listen to the radio or Bluetooth; feel free to just sit in the pool room to read, relax or meditate. Groups are to book sessions for exclusive use of the pool complex - ask for details. We have personally approved people to offer you Massages, Aromatherapy Treatments and Personal Trainer Assessment which can be arranged by yourselves at an extra charge if required.

About the host
Hosted by SummerHouse Luxury Holiday Lets
We are SummerHouse, a small family partnership of 3 people. We are Magda, Piers and Riki. We ran SummerHouse as a Bed and Breakfast since 2014. The outbreak of COVID-19 caused us to reassess our business, and we decided to convert the Bed and Breakfast into a holiday let. We felt more able to give a higher standard of service as a holiday let.
Piers grew up near London and worked as a systems administrator. Currently, Piers works as an operations manager at a local charity for Deaf and hard of hearing people. He loves spending time with his family, tinkering with his cars, and travelling to far-flung places.
Magda grew up near Warsaw and worked as an administrator. She moved to the UK in the early 2010s. Her main focus is the day-to-day running of SummerHouse. She loves shopping, socialising and spending time with her family. Magda and Piers have two small children.
Riki grew up near London and worked as a mathematician. She is retired and spends her time managing the finances for SummerHouse. She loves playing bridge.
Ola, Magda's beloved sister, is a qualified massage therapist and gives excellent massages. Please contact her for treatment options.

Why they chose this property
When Riki first saw the Granary in 2001, she fell in love with the magnificent views, the extensive grounds and the peace and tranquillity to be found there. The leisure centre and swimming pool were built in 2004. Ten years later, Piers and Magda came to live at the Old Stables on the same site, and set up SummerHouse Bed and Breakfast.
What makes this property unique
When you arrive at SummerHouse, you will feel you are in a beautiful private world. Sit in the Conservatory and look at the sweep of the valley as it rolls for miles towards the foothills of the Mendips. Take a dip in the warm pool or spend time relaxing in the hot tub before strolling in the gardens, enjoying the wildlife and taking some memorable pictures of the view.
