About this property

Lark Rise Cottage - sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms

Set in an elevated position overlooking the gently rolling hills beyond, it is easy to lose yourself in the outstanding views from Lark Rise. Built from traditional honey-hued Cotswold stone, Lark Rise is an end cottage in a row of similar properties, so typical to the area. To the front of the cottage, you'll find fields, often filled with poppies during the summer, and to the rear a view that embraces the hills and sky and can change in an instant. The cottage sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you'll often see large herds of deer peacefully grazing in the field beyond the rear garden.

This traditional stone cottage retains many pleasing character features including exposed stone, old beams, and original fireplaces. Built over three levels there is an appealing garden room on the lower ground floor along with a cosy, country-style kitchen with a wood burner. The ground floor has a light-filled living room, and the main bathroom, whilst the three comfortable bedrooms (main bedroom with an en-suite shower and toilet) can be found on the first floor.

To the rear of the cottage is a well-established, pretty, enclosed garden filled with flowers and shrubs. There is also a handy laundry room with a washing machine, drying and ironing equipment located in the outbuilding. Tucked into a quiet corner is a patio with a garden table and chairs where you can sit, soak in the view, and just listen to the buzzing of the bees and birds singing.

*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.

Lower Ground Floor

Garden Room:
From the gate follow steps down the side of the property to enter through the doors of the Garden Room. This pleasing room is filled with natural light from the huge windows which overlook the garden, and the all-encompassing view beyond. There are quarry tiles on the floor and two sofas, a two-seater and three-seater, offering plenty of space on which to relax. A small bookshelf holds a selection of novels and guidebooks, so there's plenty of information to help you plan your explorations of the local area. This room is integral to the house and can be used all year round.

Kitchen-Dining Room:
A stone doorway leads from the garden room into the spacious country-style kitchen-dining room. The room is warmed by a fabulous wood burner, which sits in the original stone fireplace, and although on the lower ground floor there is natural light from a high window to the side and a window into the garden room, which sits in the original stone surround, with a quaint little window seat beneath. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday, including an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There's also a Delonghi coffee machine along with fresh coffee. In the centre of the room is a wooden, farmhouse-style table with six chairs, perfect for lazy breakfasts and cosy evening meals.

Ground Floor

From the lower ground floor, a flight of stairs with handrails rises to the living room on the ground floor. There is a fixed stairgate at the top of these stairs.

Living Room:
The cosy living room is filled with light from the window to the front, there is also direct access to the street from the front door. The focal point of the room is the exposed stone wall with an original fireplace (not in use). There is plenty of seating for all with two- and three-seater sofas with cushions and throws. Mounted on the wall, in one corner, is a smart TV.

Bathroom:
The family bathroom is on the ground floor and is a traditional-style suite, which includes a bath with a handheld shower, washbasin, and WC. On one wall is a vintage-style wooden cabinet and to the rear a window with wonderful views. This is definitely a ''loo with a view''.

First Floor

A second flight of stairs rises to a small landing on the first floor.

Bedroom One:
This delightful room overlooks the fabulous rural views to the rear of the property, framed through a large window, with a narrow window seat beneath. The character of the cottage is very much evident in the stripped wooded doors, high ceiling, and beamed wall. There are bedside tables with reading lamps on either side of the king-size bed, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. This room also benefits from an en suite shower and WC.

Bedroom Two:
With views over the front of the cottage to the green fields beyond, this cosy single room has a framed day bed, chest of drawers and a reading lamp.

Bedroom Three:
The comfortable third bedroom has a king-size bed, which can be separated into two singles (on request) flanked by bedside tables with reading lamps. There's a single wardrobe with a full-length mirror on the door and peaceful rural views to the front of the cottage. Please note this bedroom is accessed through bedroom two.

Outside

A private driveway accessed via a five-bar gate provides off-road parking for one vehicles and additional on-street parking is available. A small side-gate leads down a flight of steps into the large pretty garden, which is fully enclosed and filled with mature shrubs and plants. It's a peaceful spot to sit and relax in and enjoy the beautiful English countryside. The garden is generally secure although small dogs may need supervision.

Convivial and comfortable, with incredible views across the valley
The cottage itself is spacious and cosy, with a stunning modern conservatory with sky light and windows overlooking the valley, perfect for watching the sunrise with a cup of tea. We were welcomed by a dozen or so Muntjac deer in the lower field when we arrived, magical! The kitchen is the heart of the home, where we cooked a meal, lit a fire and sat around the table doing a jigsaw, all overlooking the garden. The upstairs tv lounge was perfect for a bit of downtime. The rooms were spacious, well decorated and bathroom was large and shower powerful. Kitchen was well equipped, with blender and cafatiere. Also less than 10m to the pub for evening dinner, and a beautiful cafe for brunch. Perfect!

Characterful cottage
We had a lovely stay at Lark Rise Cottage, great views across the garden and valley, the bathroom and kitchen are new and well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The en suite needs a little attention as no ventilation or heating. We popped into the village cafe for lunch which we would recommend

Cute and convenient stay
Nice stay, Cute and perfect size house, confortable and convenient location, the only bad point was the mosquitos, bees and spiders that there were some dead in some ceilings and stuck on carpets, so I would suggest a little bit more cleanance, but I guess it is also, countryside atmosphere!. Beds were good and linen nice and new! In general happy choice!

Wonderful cottage with fantastic views
Really lovely location with fantastic views, enjoyed the peace and quiet and watching the deer grazing in the field at the bottom of the garden and the swallows swooping over the garden. Would definitely recommend.
