About the host
Hosted by Alex Marshall

Hello, I'm Alex.
I am married to Gabrielle and we have four kids from 18 to 8, and a boxer dog called Daisy. My siblings and I were raised in London, although my mum was South African and my dad was a Kiwi. As such, my accent, if you met me, is a little hard to place, but those of you with sharp auditory skills might ask me if I was from NZ!
We renovated Lewes Heights in 2017 and lived there until 2019, when we made the decision to run it solely as a furnished holiday let. Since that time we have had a combination of long and short stays and take great satisfaction in creating special holidays for our guests that really exceed their expectations.
I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to preparing an immaculate house for our guests, as I realise how important a weekend or a week's holiday is for hardworking, busy people or parents. And I am also really proud of the house and the garden that my wife and I created. As you will see from our reviews, it is invariably appreciated by everyone who stays. We think that the love and care we have put into the house will shine through if you come and stay.
As we genuinely care about the experience our guests have, we do all we can to respond to requests and to make incremental improvements with every stay. For example, recently we changed all the linen from a cotton mix to a pure 100% cotton. Although harder to iron, crisp cotton sheets are hard to beat! And early in 2022 we redecorated the house and installed new Danish double glazed windows.
And we have just produced an online guide to the town (accessible when you book), that highlights the best pubs, restaurants, walks, attractions and kids days out, that will inform those guests who are not themselves familiar with Lewes.
Anyway, that gives you a little bit of insight into your host. Gabrielle and I very much hope you choose to enjoy our hospitality for your holidays.
Warmest regards, Alex and Gabrielle

What makes this property unique
We fell in love with the house because in our opinion it offers a unique combination of one of the quietest locations in Lewes, and quite possibly the best views in all of Lewes. Being situated on a cul-de-sac means there is very little traffic noise and the views are far reaching over the whole of Lewes.
