Tge place was fantastic, tucked away from the busy noise of the city but still very accessible by foot, bus, or taxi. The kitchen was perfect for what we needed. Its a great spot for a couple, but would be crowded with more people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the unplugged aspect of it made it even better.

Best place we stayed in all of Japan. It's actually nicer than the pictures portray if you can believe it. Location is the only slight downside as you mostly will end up taking taxis everywhere other than the Heian shrine. Must comfortable beds and blankets, pillows we had as well. If you're cooking at all the kitchen is amazing. Wish I had used the meditation room but only discovered at at the end.
Excellent location in a quiet neighborhood but close to multiple bus routes and attractions. The home was very clean and comfortable. Our host that greeted us was very friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend this location.
Amazing stove is kinda hard to use the pans need to be the right weight to make the burner activate. Host gave some amazing food recommendations which more than made up for that.

Beautiful interior, quiet nice neighborhood, good access to buses and stores. Only drawbacks we could mention are awkward stairs.

Great location, very comfortable, excellent communication, and beautifully appointed. We loved the neighborhood with a great market, lots of restaurants within walking distance, and of course, easy access to the subway. We highly recommend.
Uta Yomi Dori is the perfect base to explore Kyoto. It's close to the Gion district and the Philosopher's Path. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, this well appointed home offers subtle luxury with Japanese sensibility. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kyoto!
The house kept with the traditional Kyoto style, yet was state-of-the-art modern and spacious. Quiet neighborhood, yet a short walk to main thoroughfares and nightlife. We were sorry to leave.
We visited Kyoto for three days, two nights, and this was the perfect oasis we needed after full days of travel and sight seeing. The pictures do NOT do it justice! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the property was warm and inviting. Spacious yet cozy, the entire home was thoughtfully adorned and outfitted. Highly recommend if you are looking for a tranquil space to feel like a local.
Charming & aesthetic luxury in elegant neighbourhood
Beautiful and spacious apartment, very well equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable bathrooms, 2 spacious tatami rooms on second floor and 1 extra tatami space on ground floor; modern design, beautifully decorated with lots of little corners to sit and read. Charming Japanese garden. Great communication with Japan Housing experience & Angel, Vadim :) Walking distance from Gion, quiet & elegant area.

Just a gorgeous home. We LOVED it! Spacious, beautifully furnished and quiet. The downstairs bathroom was amazing, looking out into the beautifully walled garden. The street was wonderfully quiet but just a 5 minute walk to a busy street with a grocery store & 7-11. This home so enhanced our stay in Kyoto. It was really a peaceful oasis to let us rest up for our sightseeing. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Japan. Our contact was amazing & has been so helpful returning a phone that we left accidentally. Highly recommend.
Property has two bedrooms up and a third room downstairs that can also be used as one with a door that closes. Two full baths, one with a shower and one with a bathtub and shower head. House is well appointed, including a washer and dryer as well as umbrellas and slippers for use. The neighborhood is lovely and very quiet - 5 minute walk to the local grocery store and about 15 to the subway, which is what we used for the week we stayed here. We visited many of the local sites via subway and/or walking. Kitchen has modern appliances and was well equipped - we cooked at least daily. The property was great and perfect for my two adult sons and me - we would stay here again!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The machiya is clean and spacious however the AC in the main bedroom upstairs is not working well. House manual needs to be more extensive e.g remotes need more translation. Do not use the Dryer function. It will ruin your clothes. Also manager Charlie is not very responsive at all.
