About this property
Traditional Scottish family home comprising 4 large bedrooms
Convalmore House is a traditional cosy detached home built in the 1890's, and was once the Exciseman’ house of the old Convalmore Distillery. It is very spacious with 4 large bedrooms, livingroom, snug, kitchen and dining room.
There are two family bathrooms, and a separate toilet on the ground floor, a large private garden as well as a secure private car park.
Perfect location for visiting the famous distilleries in the Speyside area, including Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Aberlour and Macallan.
The space
The cosy detached house is very spacious with a traditional feel to it, with 4 large bedrooms (1 x King, 2 x double and 1 x twin), livingroom, snug room, kitchen, utility room (washing machine and tumble dryer) and a large separate dining room. There are two main family bathrooms, as well as a separate toilet on the ground floor. There is a large private garden as well as a private car park that is secure with CCTV.
The house is suitable for families or groups and is a great base for the Whisky Trail, the Moray Coast, The Isla Way and surrounding areas. There are castles, distilleries, hill walking, historical sites, waterfalls, museums and highland games to name a few.
Dufftown town centre and its distinctive clock tower is a 15 minute walk from the house with a number of amenities and conveniences, including The Whisky Shop, and traditional public houses and cafes.
Dufftown hosts a number of annual events, such as the Dufftown Highland Games (Last Saturday in July since 1892), the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival (Last full Weekend in September), Hogmanay Ceilidh (New Years Eve), and The William Grant Glenfiddich Festival Experiment (September), all of which are conveniently located to the house.
Every Monday, there is an evening of traditional Scottish Music and Song (called a Stramash) at the Royal British Legion Lounge, starting at around 19.30. You can take your musical instruments along or simply join as a spectator. And every Thursday, there is a weekly Ceilidh Night (traditional Scottish dancing) at British Legion or Commercial Hall (alternate weeks) that start at 8pm.
The Cairngorms National Park is within 50 minutes of the house with many outdoor activities to choose from. It is a mecca for outdoors people with all sorts of sporting activities on offer, on the mountain, down in the valley, on the golf course or on your bike, there is something for everyone. The Cairngorms National Park has outdoor activities for all levels of experience, just choose what suits you.
