We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the spaciousness of Acorn and its easy walking distance to town, and that the beds were comfortable. We’re genuinely sorry about the bin situation you encountered. Bin collections are managed by the local authority rather than by us or the property owners, but we completely understand how frustrating it is to arrive and find them overflowing. We made every effort to get this resolved during your stay, and we’re grateful for your patience while we chased the council. It’s definitely not the welcome we want guests to have. Thank you as well for noting the bit of dust you spotted — we’ll follow up with housekeeping to make sure everything is up to our usual standards going forward. Acorn has quite a unique layout, and you’re right about both the compact kitchen and the rather quirky bath. The kitchen works well for day?to?day use, but it can feel tight if more than one person is trying to navigate it at once. Your comments are really helpful, and we’ll make sure they’re taken into account as we continue to review the property. Hi, Alan! It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. While the weather wasn't great, it's a great excuse to use the open fireplace with a traditional Lakeland stone surround, and we do have washer/dryer facilities in the kitchen for cleaning up after a wet day! On the second floor there are two single bedrooms with views of Castle Head and Walla Cragg, so even if you didn't get to hike up, at least you had a brilliant view. Acorn Cottage is a spacious double-fronted, 4 bedroom property believed to be almost 200 years old. Full of charm and character it has recently been fully renovated and refurbished to a high standard. It is very conveniently situated in a quiet area yet within a few minutes walk of both Keswick town centre and Derwentwater. Christmas is, of course, a great time to visit!
