We had a lovely weekend in four oaks cottage.

We had a lovely weekend in four oaks cottage. The cottage is cosy and inviting, with a large kitchen dining space, a snug room with television and toys available for children ( our grandson loved the toys). The living room was big enough, with comfy sofas you sank into. The bedrooms were nicely decorated and the bunk beds off the lounge would be great for children. It was really child friendly, with child gates on the stairs and door ways. The hot tub was nice and big and being inside was a bonus as the weather was awful while we were there. The location is perfect, on the edge of the New Forest, 7 miles from Bournemouth and the coast and the village it is situated in has some lovely pubs for meals.

Great stay at this characterful cottage.

Great stay at this characterful cottage. The older part of the cottage with its lower beamed ceilings in the living room was still comfortable enough for someone 6 foot tall. Just be mindful of doorways but can comfortably stand up in the room. This is part of the cottages charm in any case. The bedrooms and bathrooms had plenty of head room. The newer part with the kitchen diner was spacious with a high vaulted ceiling and modern layout. The underfloor heating in this room is a great touch. The whole cottage was warm and cosy with thermostatic controlled central heating throughout. The cottage has all the amenities for a home from home. I was able to cook a full roast dinner with the well equipped kitchen and there are washing machines and dryers if needed. The main lounge had a very big TV and there are TV’s in all of the rooms (except bathrooms). There are plenty of games, DVDs and books to entertain too. The main bedroom was characterful with the beams and has a comfortable mattress. There are bunk beds on the lower floor next to the downstairs’ bathroom with a roll top bath. This was lovely to relax in after a day out with plenty of hot water on demand. I had packed some foam bath. We didn’t use the spa but is in an enclosed summer house structure so can be used in all weathers. The garden is securely fenced and the dogs loved it. Set in a place that is not isolated, close to a community field area where you can walk the dog around a big field or in just under ten minutes away you can be in the rolling countryside of the New Forest. Burley is about ten minutes away and stopped off for lunch at the Old Farmhouse cafe. A great find. Cosy with great service. The clotted cream scones and cheese scones are amazing. We booked ahead which is advised as it did seem to be popular around lunchtime even on a weekday. A good menu choice where they also serve Sunday lunches. The Carpenters Arms pub is a few properties away from the cottage. It looks like a quiet place for a drink or meal for the local area. We didn’t visit but it’s literally a stones throw away. We were able to get a supermarket delivery for a week shop and had a takeaway one evening with local delivery to the post code being no issue. There is wifi at the address and was able to login without issues. All in all a perfect picturesque comfortable base to do as much or as little as you’d like.

After initial issue with the changeover cleaning not being done (valid reason as it turned out), Mik

After initial issue with the changeover cleaning not being done (valid reason as it turned out), Mike did everything possible to rectify this straight away. This is a large old cottage but has all modern amenities and underfloor heating in the large kitchen diner is a real bonus. Everything worked well. We did not use the Hot Tub. Close to all amenities including 3 pubs all within walking distance. New Forest is a 10 minute drive away. Highly recommend and would Tay again.
