About this property

Priest End, Chapel Stile

Priest End in Chapel Stile dates back in part to the 16th century, and is a traditional, stone-built, whitewashed cottage located next to the Church; The Great Langdale Holy Trinity, and once used to accommodate visiting priests. The slightly elevated position provides good views over the nearby cottages to the surrounding fells. With nearly 400 years of history the cottage has some fantastic features with beamed ceilings, stone-flagged floors and a stone turned staircase.

The cosy accommodation comprises on the ground floor of small porch, cottage style kitchen and dining area, lounge with wood-burning stove and WC / shower / utility room. On the first floor are 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single bedroom and a bathroom.

Outside to the front is a small paved area with flowerbeds and seating, and to the rear a terraced garden climbs up the hillside behind the cottage providing wonderful views from the grassed area at the very top.

I won't be available in person, but feel free to contact me with any questions. Alternatively The Wheelwrights Team are on hand in the office in Elterwater.

The heart of the village is just a short stroll away. In the village you can find the well stocked local convenience store -the Langdale Coop, Brambles Cafe, and the Village Church – The Great Langdale Holy Trinity, and The Wainwrights Inn which sells local brewed ales and provides good homemade food. The famous climbers inn The Old Dungeon Ghyll, New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, and Stickle Barn Tavern (now owned by the National Trust) are just up the Langdale Valley.

The property is on a main bus route. Elterwater, the famous Britannia Inn and Elterwater Cafe are a short stroll away, with a fabulous walk along the river. The cottage is also handily placed to access the Langdale Valley, 4 miles from Ambleside and close to neighbouring villages of Grasmere and Hawkshead.
