Escape to our charming country cottage in Copley, nestled midway between historic Bishop Auckland and enchanting Barnard Castle. Set in a serene riverside location, this retreat offers tranquility away from city life. Brookside Cottage rests on a quarter-acre plot, enveloped by lush gardens - a haven for nature lovers. Enjoy the wildlife, with visiting deer and kingfishers, and birdsong. The cosy living room has a rustic log burner inviting you to unwind by its flickering flames. A smart TV adds modern entertainment for cosy evenings. The well-equipped kitchen caters to your needs. The utility/boot room provides laundry and storage. Retreat to the bedroom with a super kingsize four-poster bed promising restful slumber, with a second smaller room with twin beds. The bathroom offers a bath and shower for leisurely soaks or quick rinses before adventures. Step outside for various walks, including a 7K circular woodland trail immersing you in nature.
Surrounded by farming communities and open spaces, the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is minutes away. Visit the nearby Cheesedale Cafe and Shop where you can enjoy brunch, lunch, or cake and coffee. The pretty village of Staindrop is just 6 miles away and offers tea shops and cafés. Raby Castle is within easy reach and is a must for guests who wish to catch a glimpse of over 200 deer that wander the grounds. Follow on to the bustling market town of Barnard Castle with a weekly farmers’ market, and some super local pubs, restaurants, independent shops, galleries, and Bowes Museum.
Bishop Auckland is just a 15-minute drive. Visit the renovated Auckland Castle, and the Spanish Art Gallery, or see the fabulous Kynren Eleven Arches spectacle during the summer months.
