We booked a different property from this same host, and the morning of our first day they messaged to tell us we had to switch properties because of an issue. Communication was a little slow and a bit vague. The listing mentioned amenities that were essentially useless in reality. The oven has no markings so one has to guess in order to use it. The fridge smelled and looked very gross, and there was old food left in the freezer. Dead and moldy flowers left in a vase on the living room table, the couch was dilapidated with a big hole in it, and we had no hand towels to be found in the apartment. The neighborhood was great as far as proximity to things you want to do in Edinburgh, but the actual building itself looked pretty concerning. Bedding was lackluster and a little worse for wear. Overall it wasn't quite a comfortable stay but we were glad I suppose to have somewhere to sleep for the weekend. Would recommend the area but wouldn't book this rental again. If you're someone who couldn't care less about roughing it where you stay, this may work great for you.
Was double booked on arrival, despite booking it 6 months ago. After about an hour, he put us up in an alternative accommodation telling us it was a more expensive property, but it was of a very low standard. We had to pay to get a taxi to the new flat. The new property was not ready on arrival, the bathroom stank of urine, shower tray didn't drain properly, oven didn't work at all (we had bought pizzas to cook to save money, these were wasted and we then had to get a take away), the wardrobe doors were missing, mirror was off the wall and kitchen bin lid wouldn't shut so the living area smelt of bin. It was Fringe month so we couldn't find alternative accommodation and had shows booked and had already wasted loads of time getting in there, so we reluctantly had to accept it. Tried to complain and ask for compensation, the owner has not replied to any messages. Vrbo have not supported us with our complaint. Really disappointing. Wanted to find somewhere we could use every year for the Fringe, but definitely won't go here again and would not recommend it to anyone. It was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in.
The pictures on the website are not what you get. It looked like a new person had taken over and changed the decor and furniture, not for the better. Quilt cover looked yellow, mould everywhere. This place was very disappointing. It wasn’t bright and homely. It was dark and gloomy. It was on the 3rd floor and the plaster was falling off the wall. Contacted the owner within 30minutes of arriving and still had no response!
