With the garden bordering Loch Fyne, it is easy to see why stone-built Craig-na-Barnach is a popular choice with guests of all ages. Imagine sitting in the garden, with a good book and a coffee first thing in the morning, listening to the birds singing and watching otters play as they come down for their morning feed. Or watching the mirror-like water ripple as the porpoises stick their fins up, tracing their way down the loch. Or last thing at night, watching the spectacular sunset light up the loch before the millions of stars come out. Perhaps you fish - mackerel are plentiful and easy to catch here during the summer/autumn months.
**Now with a games room! Features a pool table, football table and darts board in the Summerhouse overlooking Loch Fyne**
This stunning property offers an unrivalled location, and is bound to make your holiday one to remember!
The driveway with gate directly into the back garden is ideal for unloading kayaks and SUPs - whilst the garden gate onto the shore is ideal for launching them without having to go far. Boats can be launched from the community slipway in Minard, a couple of miles along the road.
The cottage itself features 2 living rooms (both with smart TVs, one with a wood burner, super-comfy leather sofas, and a variety of cosy throws etc, the other more formal with larger but equally comfy sofas and BT Sport); a large very well equipped dining kitchen with doors out onto the patio, and separate utility room with washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. On ground floor level, there is a wet room with level access shower (beside the back door, so ideal for rinsing off after you've been in the water). Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms with plenty of storage, and a bathroom (with bath).
Pets are very welcome (charged at £10 each), and there are even beds and bowls provided for them. The back garden is fully enclosed (see photos) and there is a gate for easy access to a further unenclosed area beyond, which leads directly on to the pebble beach.
We welcome guests of all ages - a travel cot and highchair are provided for your use (please remember to bring your own sheets/blankets for this).
Fishing rods are also available on request.
There is a private driveway with parking for up to 3 cars.
Porpoises can be spotted in the loch behind the property, and can be viewed from the garden/kitchen on a still day. There is a family of otters regularly visit, and can be watched from the garden as they play in the water - the welcome folder gives details of the best times to see them. Herons regularly visit the shoreline outside the property, and seals are also regular visitors. If you're lucky you might spot a sea eagle, or a pine Martin!
Furnace is just 10 minutes from the busy village of Inveraray, which has a host of visitor attractions as well as fantastic local restaurants and locally-owned gift shops. It is very well placed for exploring all of Argyll, with Oban just over an hour away, but the ferries to the various islands also within an hours drive. Historic Kilmartin is also just over half an hours drive; and the Cowal peninsula is a similar distance. Furnace village shop is only a 2 minute walk away and serves great hot food, as well as supplying all the essentials (as well as ice cream and alcohol!).
