Southwell is walking distance or (should you be laden with shopping bags from the independent bags) a short drive. Take advantage of the independent shops, bakeries, deli, cafés, local farm shops and regular market; they are hard to resist. Undoubtedly the magnificent Southwell minster should be visited, the showstopper of Southwell. The owners are happy to recommend friendly local pubs, they insist on regularly sampling them themselves, as well as a variety of restaurants, take-aways and supermarkets for cosy nights in. You are lucky to have several local food producers close by, why not take advantage of the fresh quality produces for a real taste of Nottinghamshire.

The Cowshed is conveniently positioned in the East Midlands, between the A1 and the M1, with good local roads it is easily accessible from all angles, with Newark train station on the East coast mainline only a short distance away.

Whether you want to relax and recharge, breath in the fresh air, visit a local town or city or have an event to attend locally, it would be the owner’s pleasure to have you and they hope you love Corkhill as much as they do. If you are looking for something specific, please do get in touch and they will happily help.

The Cowshed has an inter-connecting door with The Milling Shed (ref UK37350) so can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 guests.

The cottage has two large and very comfortable en-suite bedrooms but is let down by the tiny sitting area. The location is excellent, on the edge of Southwell which is a lovely tiny town. It has Southwell minster which is now a cathedral, the enormous old Workhouse, excellent pubs, and an excellent garden centre which compares well with a botanical garden.

We really enjoyed it at the Cow Shed, it was very quiet but close to all the attractions we wanted to see. We walked to Southwell with a stop at Reg Taylor’s Garden Centre for lunch. We enjoyed a lunch at Maxeys Farm shop too, lovely food. Sherwood Forest is only 25mins away. Popped to Newark but there weren’t many shops for my 18year olds. The Cowshed was very comfortable, lovely comfy beds, stunning bathrooms. The WiFi is quite poor but we managed to watch Netflix ok. I bet it’s lovely in winter when the fire is lit.
