Beautiful 3 bed stone country cottage with private heated pool in Monflanquin

Gite Gardes is a recently renovated 3 bedroom stone barn set in 9 acres of gardens with beautiful views across the valley to the medieval bastide village of Monflanquin (classified as parmi les plus beaux villages de France). A rural location but within easy access to local shops and services, this is the Ideal base for a family holiday, or a group of friends to explore the glorious Dordogne, Lot, Garonne and Tarn valleys.

The accommodation is all on one level and includes 2 king size bedrooms with shared en-suite walk-in (roll-in) shower room and one twin bedroom with wash basin. A double sofa bed is also available for additional guests on request. The separate family bathroom includes roll top bath with stunning views across the valley to Monflanquin. There is also an additional shower room.

Relax in the spacious and light open plan living area which comfortably accommodates up to 8 people, with sofas and an eight seater dining table. Facilities include UK and French HD TV, Bluray/DVD player, free WIFI access and ipod docking station and CD player.

The living area flows into the spacious and well equipped modern kitchen, with its own breakfast table. Facilities include cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine and iron and ironing board.

Large patio doors lead out from the kitchen onto the private and secluded outdoor dining terrace and barbecue area set in a walled garden with ancient bread ovens. The stunning views across the wooded valley make this a wonderful space for relaxing with family and friends.

Three charming stone archways lead out to the private south facing sunbathing area with private heated pool (pool heated May - October) and games room. There is also a swing set for younger children as well as a badminton net and table football.

The games room also provides secure, lockable and dry storage for bicycles.

The owners live on site in a separate building, but guests are welcome to explore the nine acres of land which is a mix of woodland, prairie and more formal gardens, for peaceful walks and wildlife spotting.

Fabulous place to stay.

The house gave us everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxing family holiday. Everything was immaculately clean, with lots of space inside and out. The pool was great for games, it was deeper in the middle and shallower on the edges. The garden and pool had lots of natural shade, which was definitely needed on the hotter days. Monflanquin is a lovely town. The surrounding towns, villages, chateaus and markets are all with in an easy drive and worth a visit. Jo and Jim were great hosts who were on hand if needed. Thanks for a great stay.

Lovely relaxing break!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Gite Garde. The relaxed atmosphere, friendly welcome and spotless gite make it easy to unwind. The pool is the perfect place to soak up the sun. Thank you to Jo and Jim for being great hosts - available when needed but never invasive and great company to share some wine with on a beautiful evening.

Beautiful Monflanquin Gite

We have booked several holidays through VRBO . This was the best. Our hosts Jim & Jo were excellent and provided clear directions to the propery. We spent a wonderful restful week at their lovely cottage. Ideal location for exploring the many Bastide villages in the area. Cottage has every facility necessary for an enjoyable stay including lovely heated pool. The cottage has been thoughtfully restored by the owners. The secluded private outdoor area was the perfect place to chill out and listen to the bird song.Would strongly recommend a stay at this property.Agnes and Stuart

A Wonderful Holiday in a Beautiful Part of France

This was a truly lovely holiday in a lovely region of France, rich with historical sites and a variety of local activities. The nearby markets and charming villages are perfect for day trips and exploring the local culture.As for the villa itself, excellent. It’s very well equipped with everything you could need to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the pool is fantastic, with the added bonus of being heated to just the right temperature.The garden is beautifully maintained, with great views and a peaceful, natural atmosphere. The owners live on-site but are never intrusive, they’re friendly and always happy to help if you need anything.All in all, it was a wonderfully relaxing holiday. We’ll definitely be coming back, thank you. 10/10!

The accommodation is all on 1 level. 2 large double beds with 1 large modern interconnecting bathroom with large walk in shower. There is another bathroom with old roll top bath and a seperate shower. A large bedroom with 2 single beds and a sink. Being a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and my elderly parents the property catered for all of us easily. We all had enough toilets & showers. The south facing pool was cleaned and mainted daily and was a perfect 28 degrees with nice steps and a seat u could sit on in the water to cool down when weather was too hot. Outside was a bbq and nice sized table and chairs. Its a quite location and is wonderful for star gazing. Nearby town and Montpazier are worth a visit. Owners are thoughtful, polite and leave u to it. U feel like the place is ur own. Lots to see and do.

Belle maison ideale pour des vacances au calme

Fantastic gite

Very enjoyable week in a lovely secluded setting. Jim and Jo were very welcoming and had lots of good tips for trips and walks. The pool was superb and there were lots of toys and floats to use, and a great shady area beneath a fig tree. The beds were comfortable and mosquito nets are installed on the bedroom windows. Highly recommend.

The Pudneys stay at Gite Gardes

Such a lovely Gite in a beautifully idyllic location. Peace and quiet Nice clean heated pool Great BBQ Bedroom views of Monflaquin Only a few minutes away from the supermarket and boulangerie, and a few more minutes, and you're in the town. Monflanquin is charming with a good choice of restaurants, and shops, the market on a Thursday was great fun. One of our days out was canoeing on the Dordonge, which was AMAZING!! Highly recommended. What a find

My family and I stayed for 1 week at the end of May 2022. On arrival we were welcomed by Jo & Jim ( cats & hen) they made us so welcome. They were on hand for recommendations like eating out and places to visit which we appreciated. Location was perfect for supermarkets, restaurants and pretty places to visit. We have such a relaxing week as the weather was better than expected for the time of year and really made use of the super swimming pool. We wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

Great Gite lovely Location

A deer ran across the track the first morning we went out exploring and that set the tone for a fabulous two weeks! We loved the gite and we loved the area. We were very lucky to have 2 weeks of sunshine in Oct, which enabled us to experience the many activities to do in the srea and enjoy the numerous beautiful villages. Thoroughly recommend thus gite and the lovely owners.

Nous avons passé un séjour entre amis très agréable dans la maison pleine de charme de Jim et Jo. Le cadre est superbe, la jolie piscine chauffée et nettoyée chaque matin par Jim a été appréciée de tous, même quand le temps s'y prêtait moins. La maison très propre dispose de tout le nécessaire pour passer un bon séjour Jim et Jo sont des hôtes très discrets, arrangeants et de bons conseils. Nous avons séjourné deux semaines dans ce gîte très spacieux. La description est totalement correcte. Cette location est très propre et bien entretenue. Il y a tout ce qu’il faut pour passer des vacances au calme et entouré d’une belle végétation. La piscine est parfaite et est nettoyée tous les matins par les propriétaires qui sont très gentils et discrets. Les enfants peuvent profiter de nombreux jeux (jeux aquatiques, baby foot, badminton, etc).

Toujours un plaisir de revenir au gîte Gardes

Nous sommes retournés cette année chez Jim et Joan, toujours aussi accueillants avec leurs hôtes. Ils savent se rendre disponibles lorsqu'on a besoin d'eux, et être discrets le reste du temps. Comme l'année dernière, on s'est regalé avec les oeufs frais de leur poule. Le gîte est fonctionnel et la piscine chauffée à 26° appréciable lorsque la météo est maussade. Nous nous sommes bien reposés et nos enfants s'y sont bien amusés. Un grand merci à Jim et Joan pour cet excellent séjour. Pierre, Nathalie, Elise et Manon

Perfect stay!

The location is great--in the country but very close to Monflanquin. Jim and Jo were helpful, responsive, and kind. Everything was clean and tidy upon arrival, and everyone was very careful respecting COVID-19 guidelines. Having the pool for the kids was perfect during the hot days, and being close to several interesting sites was great the rest of the time. Would definitely stay here again.

Un merveilleux séjour

Nous avons passé de trés bonnes vacances avec les enfants qui se sont beaucoup amusés dans la piscine. Elle est bien adaptée aux enfants de tous les âges (4 et 12 ans) et le fait qu'elle soit chauffée à 30°C a permis de se baigner tous les jours. Les photos sont fidèles à la réalité, le gite et les extérieurs sont propres et bien entretenus, tout est fonctionnel. Enfin, Jim and Jo (les propriétaires) sont trés gentils et discrets. Ils ont eté aux petits soins avec nous et nous nous sommes régalés avec les oeufs de leurs poules. Tout a éte parfait durant notre séjour.

Beautiful, relaxing location.

Jim and Jo were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The property is a beautifully restored old stone barn with a contemporary and comfortable interior. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. The outside areas are great: a north facing courtyard with views over the valley and Monflanquin, and a south facing patio with a lovely fig tree to sit in the shade of, and a good-sized pool to cool off in and play with the kids. There are also extensive grounds that we were free to explore. A car is essential and there’s not really much within easy walking distance (if you have small children as we do!) We would not hesitate to return.

Great place for a relaxing holiday

A very beautiful and setting houses this lovely gite. The house is very spacious and well equipped and provides a great base for a relaxing holiday. The outside space is great and you have areas in the sun all day so you can enjoy either a day at the house or just relax after returning from sightseeing. Monflanquin is beautiful but you are well-placed for many different trips, activities or days exploring a truly beautiful area of France. Jim and Jo are very kind and helpful hosts who take great pride and care in ensuring everything is maintained to the highest standard. They live next door, on site, and come to clean the pool every morning but are never intrusive. They are more than happy to help with recommendations if asked and provided us with some very good ones indeed. I would not hesitate to return if we were in the area again and would happily recommend Gardes.
