About this property
Fern Cottage, Great Strickland
Fern Cottage is a large, light, 3 bedroomed holiday cottage sleeping up to 5 people. In decorating the cottage we have retained all the lovely oak beams and given it a modern twist. A perfect holiday base for touring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Located 200 meters from the all-important village pub, there are excellent walking and cycling in the area with Lake Ullswater 7 miles; Keswick 20 miles; Penrith and shops 6 miles. To help make your stay even more enjoyable in December, the cottage will be festively decorated, to get you in the mood for Christmas. Enjoy roaring fires, cosy dinners, and festive films in the lounge after taking long scenic walks in the surrounding area. High-speed internet is available throughout as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime on the 50” TV in the living room. **BEDROOMS** The master bedroom has a sumptuous kingsize bed, plenty of storage and a comfy chair. The second bedroom has two twin beds, plenty of hanging space for you to unpack and unwind. Bedroom three is cosy and gorgeously decorated with a single bed and chest of drawers. **KITCHEN** The well-equipped kitchen we hope has everything you need for cooking and a dishwasher to help you clear up afterwards. There is also a washing machine/tumble dryer and a dining table to seat up to 5 people. **LIVING ROOM** Slow down and stretch out on our comfy sofa in the living room which also features a leather armchair and squishy occasional chair. There is also an open wood-burning fireplace for those winter months. If you still need to get work done, there is a quiet corner that includes a desk and work chair, making it the perfect spot to work (and gaze out into the garden). **CONSERVATORY** In warmer months the conservatory is the place to relax, read a book and forget the stresses of everyday life. **GARDEN** The conservatory opens out onto a very pretty, and secluded cottage garden. Overlooking the village green, the cottage is situated in the sought-after rural village community of Great Strickland, which has on a number of occasions, won the title of Eden’s Best Kept Village. Call us biased but it's got one of the best outlooks of the village from the old signpost, the red phone box, the village green with the ducks waddling around, to the views of the fields! It is actually as idyllic as it sounds. **PARKING** There is space for off-road car parking around the back of the property with all information being covered within the welcome pack which will be sent before arrival. We will send you a welcome pack with all the details needed Quiet village location with local pub.
