About this property
Stunning Lake Washington and Mount Rainier Views! Access to shared waterfront!
Comfortable, contemporary home with stunning south-facing Lake Washington and Mount Rainier views from most rooms in the house! Includes access to privately owned waterfront and beach property. Inspiring architecture and details: slanted bay floor-to-ceiling windows, harmonious use of metal, stone and wood. Wake up to birds singing or eagles gliding past. Relax on the great view deck which captures the 180 degree panorama. Close in, central location, yet feels private and peaceful. Truly unique!
The Space:
Looking down upon Lake Washington's Juanita Bay from this home's terrific vantage point, you'll feel like one of the eagles that frequently perch in the towering cottonwood tree just outside the living room. The main level takes full advantage of the spectacular scenery with walls of windows, enabling terrific views from the kitchen, dining and living rooms, all of which are open to each other in a functional, flowing floor plan. There are two view decks; one is off the master bedroom and the other off the living room. The latter is furnished with a stainless BBQ, outdoor seating, and a long, custom-fabricated glass table. The main level also has an office nook, pantry with sink, and powder room. The middle level has 3 bedrooms and two baths, including the master suite. The master features a soaking tub, dual vanities, a double-headed shower and a deck. The middle level also has a huge laundry with office space, and a media room stocked with games and a plasma TV. One more level down there is the 4th bedroom and adjacent 3/4 bath.
Guest access
You will have access to the whole house except the garage, the master closet, a linen closet and one of the office spaces. We live here when we are in town and not traveling, so the house remains fully furnished. Please note: there is a mother-in-law apartment on the very bottom level of our house that has a long-term renter in it, but it is completely separate from the main house with its own entrance. As such, we request it be quiet after 10:00pm until 8am. We also request that guests respect the privacy of this tenant and not use the lowest level yard area in front of their windows. Guests are also invited to make use of our neighborhood's community beach and enjoy the private access to the waterfront it provides. Depending on the season, all sorts of fun activities can be experienced with this as home-base; there's boating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, kite surfing and swimming. There's a fire pit, a barbecue, picnic tables and plenty of parking.
Guest interaction:
This is our own house, but when we leave for extended vacations we will have an experienced host on duty while we are away.
Neighborhood overview:
A short 10 minute walk to Juanita Village gets you to a plethora of great restaurants, including the perpetually outstanding (albeit expensive) Cafe Juanita. During the spring through fall, our local farmer's market is held on Fridays just at the bottom of our hill, at the popular Juanita Beach Park. Just ten minutes drive is the vibrant downtown core of Kirkland, which has art, events, fantastic restaurants, nightlife and an idyllic waterfront park and marina. Juanita Beach park is a 10 minute walk and great for kids with a playground, volleyball, sandy beach, bathroom facilities and covered eating areas. Our neighborhood waterfront beach is even closer and has picnic tables, a fire-pit and parking; a great place to let kids run around or roast marshmallows.
Getting around:
Juanita Village and Juanita Beach Park as well as our community beach are all within walking distance. There is also the 255 Metro bus that will take you right to Seattle. Gooogle and Microsoft are easy commutes, and even though traffic is getting thicker these days, it usually takes less than a half an hour to get into downtown Seattle from our house, and only twenty minutes to get to downtown Bellevue.

About the host
Hosted by Laura

My husband and I built this house 17 years ago. Eric did much of the work on it and has painted all the artwork. We love it here and so does everyone that sees it. We are recently empty nesters and our house is a bit big for us. That combined with our love of travel and adventures has led us to try to rent out our home short term.
Why they chose this property
Seattle, Kirkland and our home.. what is not to love? Beautiful 180 degree views, birds chirping in the mornings, eagles soaring by.... Relax and enjoy.
What makes this property unique
We strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. To this end, we'll have a detailed Guestbook describing both house essentials as well as various interesting things to do, places to visit, restaurants to experience, etc.
