About the host
Hosted by Swanage Holiday Properties
I’m Camille, and I’m lucky enough to call Swanage home. Running Swanage Holiday Properties means I get to share this beautiful corner of Dorset with guests from all over, and it’s genuinely one of my favourite parts of the job. Whether it’s families discovering the beach for the first time, walkers heading out along the Jurassic Coast, or couples escaping for a quiet break, I love helping people experience the magic of this place.
Living locally means I know all the little details that make a stay special — the best spot for a sunrise coffee, which bakery sells out first, where to find quiet coves, and the walks that reward you with the biggest views. I’m always happy to share recommendations and insider tips so guests can enjoy Swanage the way we do.
My goal is simple: warm hospitality, thoughtful touches, and properties that feel like a true home‑from‑home. I want every guest to leave feeling rested, welcomed, and already planning their next visit.
Why they chose this property
I chose Swanage because it’s one of those rare places that manages to feel both peaceful and full of life. With its sandy beach, friendly high street, and the Jurassic Coast right on the doorstep, it’s the kind of town that draws you in and makes you want to stay. Living here means I get to enjoy coastal walks, sea air, and a community that genuinely cares about its surroundings — and sharing that with guests is a joy.
Whether it’s watching the sun set over the bay, wandering down to the pier, or heading out on a cliff‑top walk towards Durlston or Old Harry Rocks, there’s always something beautiful just moments away. It’s a place that leaves a lasting impression, and I love helping guests discover their own favourite corners of Swanage.
What makes this property unique
The Ketch is special because it blends the charm of a Grade II listed building with all the comfort and ease of a modern coastal getaway. Set within the beautifully converted former Ship Hotel, it offers a rare mix of history, character, and contemporary style — all just steps from Swanage Beach.
Guests love the bright lounge with its sash window and little balcony overlooking the High Street, a perfect spot to enjoy the buzz of Swanage while still feeling tucked away. The cosy eaves bedroom and the thoughtful touches throughout — like the well‑stocked games and books — make it feel like a true home‑from‑home.
Its location is unbeatable: stroll to the beach, pier, Stone Quay, cafés, shops, or coastal paths in minutes. Everything is on the doorstep, yet the cottage remains peaceful and welcoming — a place guests return to again and again.
