This quintessential sun filled 576 square foot Cape Cottage is located in the historic Fort Hill area. The home has been fully renovated with modern design and amenities. There is an outdoor shower, screened in porch, gas grill, fireplace and central A/C and ceiling fans for the summer months. The home is well appointed in simplistic and comfortable style. It s the perfect spot for a couple or small family. Please note, the maximum guests are two individuals. Given that this is a small house, the cottage has limited closet space. There is ample storage under the beds for clothes and two areas with shelves available for guests. As much as we would love to host guests with dogs, some canines have not been well behaved at the cottage. We no longer can allow dogs or pets of any kind. The home is a very short walk to Fort Hill and preserved uplands on the National Seashore with spectacular views of Nauset Marsh and the Outer beach. Multiple trails lead you though groves of maple, past Native American historic sites to Hemenway Landing for launching your kayak or boat.

We loved the location because there was easy access to both the upper and lower Cape. The kitchen had all the tools and pans we needed to cook some simple suppers, and the bed is very very comfortable.
We had a great week staying at the cottage. The setup and proximity to the Outer Cape is perfect for a weekend or full week stay. Maren was easily accessible and communicative and let us check in well before the time listed. Would stay here again!
Nice location. Cottage is cozy, is in excellent condition, has all you need .
We had a really nice weekend the owner is great to work with Close to beaches and bike trails. Not too far from PTown or Chatham if you want to explore. Then, you get to walk the View from Fort Hill every morning, which can’t be beat.

Thank you, it was a pleasure having you stay at the cottage!
A cozy, clean and comfortable little house, great for 2 people. The host was very responsive to our questions. We had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.
We needed extra space for our family reunion in Eastham. This cottage was within walking distance to our location and was the perfect place for one couple. We love the proximity to Fort Hill and to the bike path. The property owner was responsive and super helpful. One of our best VRBO experiences ever!
Absolute perfect location and layout. Loved being able to sit on the screened porch to begin and end the day - we never even used the living room. The outdoor shower had direct access to the bathroom. Kitchen was spacious with plenty of room for two to work. This location can't be beat for access to mid and outer cape. The view from Fort Hill is one of the prettiest on the cape. Would 100% stay again.
Marin was easy to reach and quickly responsive to a problem that arose with internet access, bravely tackling the robo- and 'human person' nightmare of the cable company. It is a nice location, a clean property and very comfortable. It would even be better if there was a line to hang-dry towels, etc, and maybe some shelving for 'stuff.'

thank you catherine for the positive review!
for your future reference (and possible guests who might be reading reviews), there actually is a clothesline to the left of the hammock, in between my cottage and #2 (the smallest of the properties). i also clear a shelf for guests in the closet to the left of washer/dryer.
we spoke so often during your stay, i am surprised you didn't ask about these.
Beautifully refurbished with hardwood floors, working fireplace, immaculate kitchen with stainless steel appliances and everything you need for your stay, oThis cottage is a gem. The location is wonderful, a stones throw from Captain Penniman’s House in the Fort Hill Area. As noted, lack of closet space and privacy are the only issues.
We enjoyed Maren’s home very much. It is cute, well decorated, and had a very well stocked chef’s kitchen for cooking! The location was great, right near a beautiful nature trail and easy to access the outer cape and lower cape. The bathroom was a great size and we loved the screened in porch and fun (pug) decorations. One thing to note, as is mentioned in the description, the place is small and does not have much in the way of closets. We got creative with where we stored clothes and it was fine. Overall, I recommend this home.
Everything about this cottage met or exceeded my hopes for my stay. Fun and bright furnishings, a well-equipped kitchen, lovely bath and outdoor shower, and skylights that filled the cottage with light or let us watch the rain come down. The owner quickly responded to my questions, and the on-site maintenance person was there in a flash when I couldn't get a window open. Great central location for all of the National Seashore beaches, and fabulous recommendations for dog-friendly beaches from the owner. My pup and I had a blast romping on the sand!
The cottage was clean and artistically attractive. However, there were problems. There were no clothes closets on the premises, only a few hooks on back of doors. There was a privacy issue as there were large windows and little window coverings. The bathroom had a glass door outside the shower area that had no covering. The most disturbing problem was an insect issue. We killed several what appeared to be cockroaches during our week’s stay. Not a comfortable fit for senior travelers.

i am certainly disappointed to hear of your experience. since the cottage is 576 square feet, there is very little room for closet space, which i mentioned in my message to you on september 29th,. I suggested using the spare bedroom and bunk beds to hang clothing. i also have provided hooks on the back of both bedroom doors to provide hanging space. moving forward, i'll be sure to update the vrbo description so that is abundantly clear there are no closets. the images on VRBO and the website i shared with the cottage details show numerous photos of the rooms and windows. i'm sorry you experienced an uncomfortable situation regarding privacy. i certainly don't want any guest to feel uncomfortable. in the five years we've offered rentals, no one has ever given such feedback so i will be sure to add a plastic coating to the window and door to ensure privacy during the rental season. regarding insect infestation, we have never seen nor have we received any complaints of cockroaches in my house. as with many cape houses and cottages, there can be spiders and various bugs-especially during summer- but there are absolutely no cockroaches. i keep a very clean house, and ensure that it is professionally cleaned before guests arrive. my family and i also visit frequently, especially off-season, and this has never been an issue. we were at the cottage immediately post your departure this past saturday, we stayed two evenings and saw no cockroaches. as my review history indicates, the comfort of my guests is a priority and i am always available to address any guest issues or complaints during their stay. had you contacted me with your concerns during your stay i would have done everything in my power to address them, sadly now it is impossible to do so.
Comfortable Cape Cod Cottage with an Idiosyncrasy or Two
This house is great for relaxing We had a wonderful visit. We haven't been so at ease in years. We especially loved the proximity to Fort Hill. Most days, gray or sunny, we took our chairs and books and went to the upper parking lot where we sat and read and overlooked the beautiful ocean vista. And, the kitchen is so well stocked with utensils and appliances. We ate in often, although I did have to run down some fresh oysters on the half shell a few times. Now to the idiosyncrasies. The house is meagerly lit with low wattage bulbs. We couldn't read at night. It was too dark. Also, some instructions should be left for operating things. The heat/AC box was a bit of a challenge. The fact that the television was a ROKU set required I do some google searching to learn how to turn it on when the remote wouldn't and how to navigate the services. We did discover a 24/7 MIDSOMER MURDERS channel which we enjoyed in the lowly lit evenings. And finally, it is certainly the only place we have ever been that has a full-length glass door to the outside in the bathroom. We taped newspapers over it for some privacy. I recommend sport sections. We chose not to be troubled by these things, but we did get a laugh or too. These are things that might trouble some people more. Thanks, Maren, for our two weeks in your lovely cottage.
A lovely cottage with a wonderful kitchen. Very close to Fort Hill, a terrific scenic hiking area with great views. You can hear some noise from Route 6 but otherwise the setting is calm and quiet.
This place was great. I'm kind of a nerd re decor, and this met my standards. Very small, but I expected that, based on the sq ft in the listing and others reviews. Reminded me of a sailboat in the way function was incorporated into a small space. The porch and the outdoor shower are stellar. Unfortunately(!) it was not cool enough to take advantage of the fireplace. The walk to Fort Hill was so close, it was easy to scoot up to watch a few sunrises. Storing clothing was a bit of a challenge, but the extra room served well as a closet. Thanks!
Walking trail close to the property, we are familiar with Eastham with the great beaches and biking path. Traveled to Harwich for pickleball. The house is perfect except no place to store your clothes. We utilized the bunk beds for our clothes. Plenty of utensils, dishes and silverware.
My wife and I had a wonderful week in this comfortable cottage that comes with all of the amenities that you could want. We saw the sunset and sunrise from the Fort Hill overlook, perfectly located to the beaches on the bay and on the ocean side. Looking forward to a return next year!
I would recommend this cottage to anyone. It was light, bright, clean, and very comfortable we loved it! Getting around was easy - great food and beaches were close by. Hope to return!
I loved everything about this small rental suitable for 2. The screened in porch with the comfortable seating. The ceiling fans for a warmer day. The well stocked kitchen The simple pleasing decor. The natural light and great airflow with the 3 doors. The privacy from the two other cottages. And on and on. This would be hands down my most favorite rental
My partner and I had the best Labor Day Weekend at Maren’s cottage. The cottage is the perfect size, artistically decorated, and complete with a fully stocked kitchen! I can’t forget to mention the amazing screened in porch that we spent most of our mornings drinking coffee on. The location of the cottage is near fort hill, which made accessing the beautiful hiking trails nearby extremely easy. Maren was also super responsive and helpful with anything we needed, and made herself available to us even before our stay began by sending us recommendations of places to visit and eat near the cottage! Thank you so much Maren and we can’t wait to come back and visit next summer!
Wonderful property in Eastham. My daughter and I came to the Cape to enjoy some time together. The cottage was quaint, well decorated and perfect for the two of us. Well stocked, comfortable and clean. We felt right at home. Near some hiking trails on the Oceanside and close to both Eastham and Orleans. Fantastic place!
