Laura and John are excellent hosts. Their beautifully renovated suite overlooks the private Secret Cove. The space is exceptionally clean and well equipt for a family to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay with exclusive access to the cove. My children remarked their best sleep ever on the bunk beds. Laura gave wonderful advice on what to see locally including hikes, food, local shopping and exploring the coast and islands- via water taxi. Thank you Laura and John for making our family holiday relaxing and memorable. All the best.
This is a great location for exploring the nearby coastline, including Smugglers Cove Provincial Marine Park, by kayak! Spectacular paddling! Note that you can only launch or land during the higher half of the tide cycle so need to plan accordingly, and you do need to carry the boats downs a pretty steep (but well maintained and totally doable) path (unless you use the boat the hosts provide). There's a very nice spot to both store the boats and hang out down by the water. Super quiet and clean, well maintained suite.
It is a great place facing a sea inlet. At high tide you can paddle out to the sea or even have a swim right next to the property. The suite is very clean and well equipped with everything you need. The bed in the main bedroom is super soft. We enjoyed grill dinners on the deck facing the inlet. It is a few minutes drive away from a beautiful walk to the Smuggler's Cove or a water taxi going to the Buccaneer Bay beach on Thormanby Islands. Laura and her husband were very gracious hosts who responded to all requests and provided good pointers about things to do.
This place was amazing for the other half of our family for the weekend. The host showed us around in person which was so kind and helpful. The place is beautiful and everything was clean. We appreciated their responsiveness and flexibility with our group needs. Would definitely recommend!
The property is wonderful and very clean, and the hosts are very thoughtful. The back deck table and bbq are great for vacation cooking. The shallow waters during high tide make the water extremely warm. The paddle board was our favourite, and we floated around endlessly and often ended up swimming even in the evening. Thanks for a great vacation!
We had an amazing stay at Tidal dance at Half Moon Bay! Laura and John were great hosts. Laura gave us a quick tour/orientation to the cottage and was very helpful in suggesting hikes and other activities during our stay. Laura was quick to answer any questions we had. We took the canoe out several times and saw some otters in the cove. We hiked a lot and enjoyed Smugglers cove and the waterfall hike the most. I’m hoping someday we will come back! Thanks!
This is a beautiful place, and the cottage, attached on one side to the owner's home but completely private, is spacious, very well-equipped, and the host is very helpful. Sechelt with shopping is close. We used the cottage as a base for hiking the many nearby parks, but it also provides kayaks, canoe and rowboat for trips down the inlet.
We had a great stay at Tidal Dance. Laura and John were lovely, were very accommodating and answered all of our questions. We went for a morning paddle every day with our children which was fantastic.
Tidal Dance is in a beautiful location, relatively private and close to amenities and the wonderful provincial parks in the area. The suite (this is a lower suite in a house, with owners living upstairs, which isn't entirely clear in the listing) is very comfortable, clean, and well furnished, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Local maps and information are provided. The owner Laura was friendly and welcoming and respected our privacy.
We didn't use the provided paddleboard or canoe, but did spend some very relaxing time sitting at the water's edge watching the tide come in.
The only down side was some noise from upstairs, which intruded a bit on our relaxation.
All in all, we had a great time on the Sunshine Coast.
The location was perfect for a quiet get-a-way. My adult daughter wanted to try paddle boarding but could not navigate the drop off to the tidal basin nor the climb back up the steep embankment. The winding path was very lovely and beautiful. The accommodations were more than adequate. Hint - - - a hold bar would be MOST helpful when stepping out of the shower.
Property was very clean and had lots of amenities. Very close to lots of good hikes and the bay was great for kayaking in the evening when the tide was in. Laura and John had lots of great recommendations for things to do as well.
Laura was wonderful from the moment we arrived- with homemade sweet’s waiting for us.
The property was exceptionally clean, with very comfortable furniture and a great layout for guests.
Tidal Dance is so quiet and peaceful- we’ll definitely be back.
We enjoyed our stay at the Tidal Dance. It was quiet and secluded suite and had great access to the water. There were hikes nearby and we were able to paddleboard everyday. It was clean and well-stocked for cooking.
The owners, Laura and John, were very nice and afforded us our privacy. The property (suite) was immaculate and was stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The only thing I would comment on, is that if someone has mobility issues the path down to the water is somewhat of a challenge. There is, however, a beautiful beach, CoopersGreen just a 5 minute drive away where we went almost everyday. There is also a little store also 5 minutes away.
This property is only a 10 - 15 minute drive to the quaint little town of Sechelt and 25 - 30 minutes to Gibsons.
Overall, we had a lovely stay. Sheena and Robert Cacchioni
Thanks John and Laura for renting your beautiful property to us. We enjoyed using the SUP, kayak, and canoe to paddle around. Your unit is well equipped and set up. This was an amazing holiday for us as a family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laura and John's property. It was heaven to have A/C during the heatwave and be so close to the water. The suite is well appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed. Laura and John were lovely hosts and even though the suite is downstairs, we never felt encroached. Laura was so helpful with getting us sorted with the kayak etc and even had the right size life jackets for all 4 of us. We had a great time exploring the area and spent time hiking, exploring creeks, waterfalls and tidal pools. Sechelt and Gibsons weren't too far away and didn't disappoint. Overall a great family vacation!
Gracious, generous and helpful hosts. Beautiful setting. Loved having access to the canoe. Great walks and hikes in the area- and some great suggestions from Laura and John. And then there was the quiet!

About the host
Hosted by Laura Maddalozzo
John and I have been visiting the Sunshine Coast for 15 years, so it was no surprise we chose to retire to this community. We are outdoor enthusiasts: kayaking, hiking, mountain biking are just a few of the sports we enjoy. We love to travel and explore new cultures, languages and cuisine. We welcome you to our private, landscaped retreat.
Why they chose this property
John and I only moved to the Sunshine Coast five years ago, but it feels like we've always called this home. We are blessed to have a property that offers both water and trail activities right from our front door. And it is a pleasure to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and the cascading waters of Homesite Creek against the backdrop of Crown forest lands. The colours and tides and wildlife are always changing, so you never tire of the view. We think we've won the lottery!
What makes this property unique
BBQ up some burgers on the grill, grab a craft beer and dine al fresco on your heated private deck so you can gaze at the wildlife and scenic view.
