Beautiful Cabin with Close Access to Mount Rainier
It was all that we could ever have wanted. The house was clean, well furnished, and equipped. Again, we appreciated being so close to the Sunrise entrance to Mount Rainier and Crystal Mountain.
The property and home are beautiful. It's quiet, peaceful, and secluded, but close enough to places to do things. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had. We wish we had had more time to enjoy this home and everything around it.
We booked this stay as a base for hiking on the Eastern side of Mount Rainier National Park. The location is about 45-60 minutes of the Sunrise area and closer to other prime trailheads (Natches Peak, Summerland, Glacier Park were our other hikes).
The neighborhood is very quiet and the house is very well-equipped and relaxing. Just a perfect get away!
My family of 5 stayed at this property and it was in a nice location for our trips into Mt. Rainier National Park and surrounding areas. It has a nice cabin in the woods feel. We did not utilize the firepit because of the burn ban.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Satisfactory but wasn’t first choice.
Needs a deep cleaning and refresh/refurbish. Pictures don’t fully represent condition of property. Location was great for entrance to north side of National Park. For Vrbo, and price, we expect better.

Sorry to hear your visit was below expectations David, I strive to keep both cleaning and furnishings at a high level. That said I will make improvements to meet higher expectations. Pricing is set to market conditions as suggested by VRBO.
We enjoyed our stay in this nice home in a Crystal Mountain forest subdivision (it is in a cul de sac so pretty private). 30 minutes and 45 minutes to White River Campground and Sunrise. Elk live here and they wander through, are used to humans, are fun to watch, and along with humans benefit from locked garbage cans. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and the layout conducive to great card games. While the in-home instructions were a little confusing, communication with the host was terrific so all was well. There are plastic adirondack chairs to the side of the house that are plenty and comfy to use on the deck. Very nice stay.
We had a terrific stay at this lovely cabin in Crystal River Ranch. The kitchen and common areas are very spacious and attractive, and the bathrooms and bedrooms are very nice. We bought groceries at a Safeway in Enumclaw, about 20 minutes away. There were some smaller closer options for food, but we did not try them.
We loved the "rustic, in the woods" feel of the cabin. There is no house to the left of the cabin, just woods. One very very small comment is that we would have enjoyed some more outside furniture for the deck.
Overall we really enjoyed this property and would stay here again when visiting this side of Rainier.
Our family of five (which included 3 teenagers) stayed in this home for a week. It was the perfect home base for exploring all that Mount Rainier has to offer.
The home is well stocked with necessities that make it feel like home, including cookware, shampoo and condiments (things that make your grocery bill outrageous when you only need a little bit).
Internet worked great and having a Fire TV with Nexflix and Prime access really made this the perfect home away from home for us. There is not much to do in this area besides exploring the National Park so it was nice to have those things to come home to.
Oh...and there was lots of wildlife right outside the windows. We received numerous visits from elk and bunnies.
Thanks for sharing your lovely home with our family.
Beautiful & comfortable house for a getaway to Mt Rainier
We had a really enjoyable and comfortable stay at this beautiful house, secluded in a quiet neighborhood between Seattle and Mt Rainier.
The area is very quiet for a good night's rest and the location was convenient for a weekend in Mt Rainier - we did the Paradise area one day and Sunrise the other.
The A-frame architecture of the house with large windows gave it a lot of character - you really feel immersed in nature and greenery anytime you look out the window (especially when you see the occasional deer!) - and the unique architecture made it one of the nicest houses in the neighborhood we saw.
The front porch and the back area have chairs to lounge in, and the grill and outdoor fire pit are ideal for friends and family hanging out.
The house is well-stocked with kitchen supplies as well as beddings/towels. We came in from the airport and stopped by Costco for food and supplies on the way to the property. The wifi at the house was speedy also.
The price of rental was fair and very affordable compared to other similar properties near Rainier that fit 6+ people.
Paul is very nice and was very responsive through out the process. We'd love to return!
Very nicely furnished (kitchen, linens, etc.). Enjoyed the outdoor firepit as well. Look forward to staying there again some time in future. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
My extended family and I ( 4 adults and 1 child) enjoyed our five nights at this house very much. It's location is great for visiting Mt. Rainier NP and Crystal Mt. ( The latter is about 25 minutes away; the visitor center at Sunrise in the national park about 45 minutes away). On one day we hiked out of the White River campground in the park, about 30 minutes away.
We rode bikes and/or walked every evening in the Crystal River Ranch neighborhood where the house is located. There was little car traffic, making it safe for all of us. The White River flows through the neighborhood--a 10 minute walk from the house. We saw elk in the neighborhood every day, sometimes from the windows/deck of the house. (one late afternoon some of our group walked to the river and saw a herd of elk wading across it!)
We also really appreciated that the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cutlery and all kinds of cooking accessories for food prep. The fridge and cupboards contained lots of spices, condiments, and small quantities of things necessary for cooking and preparing food.
We would rent this house again without hesitation.
We very much enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. It was very clean upon our arrival. Kitchen is fully stocked. It’s a perfect base to explore Mount Rainier area.
This is still a great house for our second trip to the Mt Rainer area. It has a wonderful living area, great windows, a nice kitchen, comfy bed, useful fireplace, and now a great full size grill. Interactions with the owner are easy and helpful. And it’s a perfect home base for our daily outdoor adventures.
Beautiful cabin in a quiet neighborhood. About 50 minutes drive to Sunrise. Very spacious and clean. Comfortable for our large group of 7. Kids enjoyed playing video games after a day of hiking. Check-in and out was quite easy. There are two bed rooms downstairs. The bedroom upstairs is a big open loft. The cabin is a few miles from the Greenwater gas station, stores and restaurants. The general store wasn't open for two days when we were there for some reason. So it's better to get grocery for the length of stay from Enumclaw before going to the cabin. Loved the huckleberry flavor ice cream in a nearby gift shop/cafe. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.
We found this cabin to be well-equipped and very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed, there were plenty of towels, and the info book had some great tips on local hikes and whatnot. Cell service was definitely sketchy (we have AT&T, and I was able to periodically send/receive texts but not calls, while my husband could make calls from the porch), but that's to be expected out in the forest. The wifi was excellent and filled any gaps in communication ability. Our younger child enjoyed the bunk bed room and the nearby playground area. All of us enjoyed the close proximity to Mt. Rainier. Even while getting a later start than we hoped on a couple of mornings, we had no trouble finding parking at the Sunrise area or the Grove of the Patriarchs area, which I attribute to our head start on the day-trippers from Seattle on driving in to the mountain.
It wasn't a problem, but I did find it odd that there were no nightstands next to the bed upstairs.
Again, we had planned for this and it was not a problem, but anyone considering staying here should note that it's about a 30-minute drive to grocery stores or restaurants.
The only small thing that was a bit off-putting is that the cabin info book had a long list of things to do during checkout, including vacuuming and fairly extensive cleaning. This seemed excessive given that this place has a cleaning fee. Fortunately, the checkout instructions in our VRBO email were much more reasonable/standard (strip beds and take out trash, etc.), so it ended up not being an issue. I'd suggest potentially updating the on-site notebook to match the VRBO-email instructions.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. This cabin really helped us make the most of our time in the Mt. Rainier area, and we would definitely recommend it.
This is our second time stay at this property, we loved the location and house, very close to the parks, nice neighborhood, good size 3 bed room home with beautiful setup.
We will go back!
We enjoyed this house so much. It had everything you could possibly need and more. The only downside was no cell service but we knew that beforehand from previous reviews. Even with wifi we couldn’t make or take calls but were able to get on the Internet. I don’t think anyone was in any of the surrounding houses at the time so it was nice to have some quiet time in the woods.
We had a great week at this cabin. Almost every day there were elk in the yard. Super cool to see. The entire experience was so smooth and easy from the time we opened the door until the time we left. Great communication. The cabin was more than adequately supplied with everything you might need for your stay. We will be back next year :)
We had a super relaxing time during our stay. It was a quick drive to Crystal mountain for a gondola ride and spent the rest of the time at Mount Rainier. The location was perfect and the area is really quiet. The house was really great and had everything we needed.
Our family with two teenage boys had a wonderful time at this cozy , well-appointed and light-filled cabin close to Crystal Mountain. Paul was very responsive and forthcoming.
This was the perfect cabin for us to get away from the Oregon fires. Even though highway 12 was closed a mile from the cabin due to a local fire, we felt safe because the fire department In Greenwater was always open and staffed. The cabin is at the end of a small cul-de-sac with an empty wooded lot on one side. There is a cabin on the other side and a couple across the street that are visible. Luckily, they were empty during our stay. The inside of the cabin is lovely and open with lots of light, a very comfortable couch, a large rustic dining table, and windows from floor to ceiling. The furnishings were just perfect—Comfortable and contemporary without feeling too fancy. The kitchen was well-stocked with high end pots and pans and basic seasonings for cooking. There were plenty of plates and bowls. There was a lack of storage containers for leftovers, and some missing kitchen utensils (tongs, slotted spoon, grill tools), so we had to be a little creative. The master bed was unbelievably comfortable! The view from the loft was nice with a couple small skylights to let in the natural light and see the trees. We had elk visit on most days, including a spike. One day we counted eight cows in the front yard! We enjoyed the Skookum Falls Hike close by. There is a paved closed forest road (74) as you come into the subdivision that is wonderful for a remote road bike ride. It’s 5.5 miles one way and goes along the white river. Be careful at the end because the road literally falls off into the river! We saw bear scat but no bears. It’s a gorgeous ride from the cabin. The couches are fabulous for stretching out and reading in the afternoon light. There is a nice Adirondack loveseat on the deck for coffee and wine.
A few other tips:
- The ice machine in the freezer works and makes ice quickly if you turn it on. It’s loud at night with the ice dropping down, so you might turn it off before bed.
- We didn’t have cell phone access (AT&T). A neighbor told us to try Forest Road 70, which is between the house and Greenwater. You will see a bunch of cars pulled over and people talking on their cell phones. Our cell phones didn’t work there either, but if you have a different service yours might.
- The Wi-Fi at the house worked really well when it was up.
- The grill is a small camp grill. It works fine but if you’re used to a large grill with several burners, this isn’t one.
Overall fabulous and great communication from owner! Thanks! D&S
