About this property

Brasstown Creek House--3 Mi. from John C. Campbell Folk School

The Brasstown Creek House is a beautiful, centrally located spot to spend some quality time, whether you're looking for peace and quiet, a base from which to explore the area, a place to stay while visiting family and friends, a place to host a gathering or to take classes at the nearby, nationally known John C. Campbell Folk School.

The Creek House can be found three miles southeast of Brasstown, NC at 8105 Old US 64 in Clay County. The Smoky Mountains surround the Creek House and provide spectacular scenery. The Creek House is situated directly on Brasstown Creek which borders the edge of the Hyatt Farm. What this means to guests is lots of fun; wading, tubing, fishing, hiking, and picnicing. Quieter enjoyments at the Creek House include watching the brown herons stalk up and down the creek looking for a likely spot to catch a few fish, and listening to the creek lull you to sleep.

Nearly Perfect

Such a great location if you’re taking a class at the Campbell Folk School. Really nice to be right on the rushing stream. If they add dressers to put your clothes in and a couple of small tables in the living room it would be perfect.

Fantastic place

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nice and quiet. Off the beaten path. The hot tub was great even though it was cold, the tub was nice and toasty. We were close enough to town but far enough out not to hear ant traffic.

Absolutely Gorgeous

I can not put into words how beautiful, serene, and amazing our stay at The Brass Town Cabin was. Everything in the listing does not do it justice. Sandra and her family made our stay amazing. We can not wait to book again come spring. We have decided this will be our vacation spot every time. We absolutely love it there and hope we can continue our vacations there for years to come. Thank you Sandra and family for an amazing vacation.

Gorgeous view

Waking up to the sounds of the rushing creek, walking the paths and seeing deer and sitting in the hot tub as it snowed are all things I’ll never forget! My girls loved all of the leaves and throwing them at each other! Great central location to do many things. I would have liked to know that there is no soap (hand or dish) on property. Having to buy that stuff when I could have just brought it from home wasn’t a happy surprise.

Lovely location, but cleanliness issues

The location is really great, beautiful setting. However, the space wasn't clean or prepped to the extent that I would expect of a rental. The floors were dirty and grimy--we ended up opting to wear shoes inside so our feet didn't get dirty. The bed we were using had no top sheet, so we took one off the other bed and remade the bed ourselves. The bathroom rugs were soaked through and hanging damp from the towel racks--they were still wet when we left. We found towels to use in lieu of rugs. There was no hand soap. I understand not providing shampoo/etc, but no handsoap is very unusual. The kitchen setup was very sparse--no salt/pepper (we bought some and left it), inadequate cooking utensils, had to hunt down dish towels. No towels were set out for easy access at all in the rental--it took us a minute to find them. I do think with a pretty small time/ investment, this rental could be really great. But, in its current state, it was disappointing. And I'll add, we're not neat freaks, we're pretty easy going. I'm not usually one to make negative reviews.
