Between Rome and Siena, charming stone house carefully restored in a magnificent flowery and well-kept garden. The house is situated on a hill which overhangs Lake Bolsena with a breathtaking view. Perfect base to visit Lazio, the South of Tuscany and Umbria. The house has a large living room with an open kitchen, a large double room, a bathroom, a large patio terrace to eat “al fresco” under a pergola shaded by roses and a stone barbecue. The swimming pool, opened from May till September, is fitted with a pool house, shower and deckchairs. The property is peaceful, surrounded by wooden hills and olive trees. The house is within easy walking distance of the village. Bolsena is a charming medieval village with its picturesque narrow streets. On the shores of the lake, typical trattorias invite you to enjoy the dolce vita and to experience local specialities. The place is absolutely peaceful and offers perfect relax and many excursions in the surrounding areas. Do not miss Bolsena’s medieval district, the walk on the ancient mediaeval walls and the Basilica Santa Cristina. Join a boat tour to spot the islands Bisentina and Martana or rent a private boat for a fantastic day on the water. At a short distance, visit the spectacular scenery of Civita di Bagnoregio (the “dying city”) and its rocky creeks, enjoy the Val d’Orcia cultural landscape (listed among UNESCO’s World Heritage) and the fairy-tale Orvieto. We will be delighted to welcome you, to share with you our heaven corner and to help you to discover our beautiful region !

The Perfect Stay

Many thanks to Laurence and Aldo for a wonderful week. Comfortable cottage, stunningly beautiful gardens, great pool, a 20min walk into beautiful Bolsena and good restaurants. We were made to feel incredibly welcome (including by the hospitable gardener Mario) but were given our privacy. The memories of sitting eating lunch on the terrace taking in the breathtaking views will be very long lasting. :) p.s. thoroughly recommend hiring electric bikes for a ride around the lake.

The cottage is absolutely amazing. Great view over the Bolsena Lake. The surroundings are fantastic, quiet and the most well maintained garden we have seen in 25 years renting houses in Italy. The owner of the property, were staying in their own house next to the cottage, but we still had 100 % privacy in our house/pool area. Excellent hosts. We will be back😊

You get more than you expect!!!

This is not a holiday home for tourists but a guest house for friends! We were totally overwhelmed by the park-like gardens and the love that has been put into the details when refurbishing and setting up this location. The town of Bolsena is only about 1.5 km away, but, as the location is up the hill, too far to walk (unless you want to exercise). What you get in return is an absolute gorgeous view in a quite area where one can slow down and relax. We really liked sitting on "our" little terrace in the evening after dinner and enjoyed the view over the lake onto the surrounding landscape. Laurence and Aldo are absolutely lovely people. They, or Mario (the gardener) will always be available when you need them but will not disturb your privacy in any way. We definitely will come back!

Wonderful stay near Bolsena

We had a relaxing 2 weeks as the guests of Aldo and Laurence, who were so helpful and informative about the area. The olive oil from their trees, homemade jam and cake made with lemons from the garden, were delicious. Thank you Laurence! The house was perfect for 2 people, with a lovely traditional Italian feel. To wake up to such a beautiful view of the lake across olive groves every morning was wonderful. Mario keeps the extensive gardens in excellent order and was so kind and helpful to us during our stay. The pool was a good size and in beautiful surroundings with opportunities for sun and shade and with more views of the lake. It was hard to tear ourselves away but we did love Bolsena old town which is very pretty. You do really need a car as it is quite a walk to the town. There is however plenty of free parking below and above the castle. There were lots of good restaurants, bars and cafes, with friendly people. Also little shops to buy small presents. Our tiny amount of Italian came in handy as only a little English is spoken. There are lovely little beaches along the lake side, the best are out of town. There are plenty of places to visit, though we didn't do as much as we thought as it was so nice to sit in the garden and read and take in the view. Hopefully we can return and explore further. All in all a very relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Kein kleines, sondern ein großes Paradies

Wir haben den Aufenthalt von der ersten Minute an in vollen Zügen genossen. Man wird herzlich empfangen und bestens betreut. Das Häuschen und vor allem der riesige Garten mit Pool und angrenzendem Olivenhain lassen keinerlei Wünsche offen, denn dort warten zahlreiche Schätze: grandioser Blick, absolute Ruhe, wunderbare Schmetterlinge, niedliche Eidechsen, herrliche Düfte, bunte Blüten und vieles mehr. Auch Mario, der immer freundliche und hilfsbereite Gärtner, ist ein Schatz. ‚Tutto posto’, Mario! Den wunderschönen, mittelalterlichen Ort Bolsena erreicht man mit einem 20-30-minütigem Spaziergang den Hang hinunter. Dort findet man viele gute Restaurants, wo man in toller Atmosphäre essen und trinken kann. Es gibt zahlreiche Ausflugsziele in der direkten Umgebung. Wir haben das Programm sogar reduziert, um den wunderbaren Garten ausreichend genießen zu können. Die Unterkunft können wir uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und kommen gerne wieder.

Die Erwartungen mehr als übertroffen!

Vom herzlichen Empfang bis zur herzlichen Verabschiedung durch die Eigentümer haben wir jeden Moment genossen. Das Haus ist mit vielen liebevollen Details neu renoviert, der Pool für eine abendliche Schwimmrunde nach einem Ausflug eine Erholung. Der Garten wunderschön gepflegt und blüht in allen Farben. Vor dem Haus zu sitzen und das Panorama auf den See zu genießen ist spektakulär. Das Haus und die Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Auf das Wohlfühlen der Gäste wird sehr viel Wert gelegt. Ich würde 10 Punkte vergeben, wenn es möglich wäre 👍 Danke an Laurence, Aldo und Mario für die wunderschöne Zeit 🤗

Der Urlaub beginnt mit der Fahrt durch´s Tor in den Park

Schon die kurze Fahrt vom Hoftor zwischen Oliven und Lavendel hinauf zum Herrenhaus und Cottage lässt einen erahnen, was einen hier erwartet. Laurence & Aldo haben hier ein kleines Paradies geschaffen, welches Sie mit Ihren Gästen teilen. Dieses "kleine" Paradies ist aber groß genug, dass man sich nicht begegnet, außer man möchte das. Es blüht und summt, und Schmetterlinge erfreuen sich an den blauen Blüten. Das Cottage ist nicht groß, aber für 2 Personen perfekt, und die Zimmer sind größer, als sie auf den Bildern scheinen. Frühstück und Abendessen unter den Rosem Spalier mit Blick auf den See..... Da fällt mir der Spruch ein: Wenn ich den See seh, brauch ich kein Meer mehr ! ;-) Leicht erhaben, etwa 80 Meter vom Cottage entfernt ein weiteres Highlight. Der Pool. Ausmaße wie wir sie selten in Ferienwohnungen erleben durften, Top gepflegt, und man mag es kaum glauben, selbst auf der Liege liegend hat man direkte Seesicht. Die Ortschaften in der Umgebung inklusive Bolsena sind sehenswert, nicht überlaufen, und es gibt viele kleine Restaurants in welchen man toll zu Mittag essen kann. Abends wurde von uns meistens der in die Hauswand gemauerte Grill genutzt, und mit einem Glas Wein in der Hand, dem Mond über dem See entspannt. Sehr zu empfehlen ist ein Ausflug ins wunderschöne Orvieto und zu den Cascata delle Marmore (Wer sich 600 Stufen runter und 600 Stufen hoch sparen möchte, sollte unten am Wasserfall parken). Etwas enttäuscht waren wir von Bagnoregio, aber Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Kurzes Resümee: Wer Ruhe, Frieden und Entspannung sucht, braucht nicht weiter zu suchen. Hier werden Sie fündig. Auf jeden Fall eine Erwähnung verdient auch der fleißige Gärtner Mario, der sich an 5 Tagen die Woche um Garten, Pool (und die Probleme der Urlauber) kümmert. Er ist da wenn man ihn braucht, und falls man ihn nicht braucht, sieht man ihn nicht. "Molte grazie Mario per i tuoi consigli segreti"

Indimenticabile

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di soggiornare in questa splendida struttura ad agosto 2021 e credo che ci sia poco da aggiungere a quanto lasci già sotto intendere il titolo. La location è semplicemente fantastica, una posizione che permette di godere di un panorama emozionante a qualsiasi ora della giornata. La struttura è curata nel minimo dettaglio sia internamente che nelle aree esterne. Il giardino, sapientemente curato dal simpaticissimo e gentilissimo Mario è uno spettacolo per gli occhi e permette di rilassarsi coccolati dai profumi di erbe aromatiche e dal canto di diverse tipologie di uccelli che si annidano su numerosi alberi da fusto. Che dire poi di Laurence e Aldo, persone splendide di una gentilezza e disponibilità infinita che ci hanno accolto a casa loro a braccia aperte e dal primo momento ci hanno fatto sentire come a casa, Concludendo è stata un esperienza che consiglierei a tutti e che qualora capitasse vorremmo ripetere!

Ein Paradies!

Dies ist wirklich ein Paradies, den die überaus freundlichen, hilfsbereiten und sympathischen Besitzer mit viel Liebe und Sorgfalt geschaffen haben. Der Garten ist wunderschön angelegt, er überrascht mit vielen Details wie Sichtachsen, schönen Blumen (herrlich der Lavendel mit den weißen Schmetterlingen oder der duftende Jasmin) und ist top gepflegt. Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und absolut sauber, genauso der Pool, der jeden Morgen von einem freundlichen Gärtner gereinigt wird. Alles ist durchdacht und wohl komponiert und wirkt wie ein Gesamtkunstwerk. Überwältigend schön ist der Blick auf den unberührten Bolsena-See von der Terrasse aus (an dem man sich gar nicht sattsehen kann). Der Ort Bolsena ist sehr hübsch, gepflegt und lebhaft mit schönen Restaurants, Bars, netten Geschäften und sehenswerten Kirchen. Es ist herrlich, am See im Schatten zu sitzen und Cappuccino oder einen Aperitivo zu trinken. Es gibt eine schöne Seepromenade (mit vielen Restaurants), einen kleinen Strand und der See ist sehr sauber (da es hier keine Industrie gibt), trotz Pool waren wir jeden Tag auch hier schwimmen. Direkt am See weht auch immer eine frische Brise. Sowieso ist das Klima sehr erträglich gewesen. Wir waren im Juli da – tagsüber war es natürlich heiß, aber abends kühlt es angenehm ab, im Garten oben auf dem Hügel weht immer ein frisches Windchen und man kann sehr erholsam schlafen. Die Kinder haben natürlich vor allem den Pool geliebt und wolten gar nicht mehr raus, für uns Erwachsene war auch die wunderschöne Umgebung definitiv eine Reise wert: Orvieto, Viterbo, Tarquinia, Rom, die vielen Ausgrabungsstätten, die herrliche, unberührte, abwechslungsreiche Landschaft - wir hätten doppelt so lange bleiben und jeden Tag etwas Neues entdecken können in dem Dreieck Lazio, Toscana und Umbrien. Der Bolsena-See ist, welch Glück, vom Massentourismus komplett verschont und war für uns, die wir Italien gut kennen, eine wahre Entdeckung (und ist ein echter Geheimtipp). Wir danken Laurence und Aldo für die so herzliche Aufnahme und den wunderschönen Aufenthalt in diesem kleinen Paradies! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder! Wir haben uns wahnsinnig wohl gefühlt

Living in the Park

Ladies, Gentlemen, This place is extraordinary. Imagine roughly 300 olive trees and amidst them a well designed and flowered park of roughly 1ha. Your house is in the centre of all this. The lawn would suit Wimbledon at its best. The owners are outstanding in discretion, helpfulness and make a serious effort to make one's stay a delight. Now to the amenities: It's perfect for two. Since this is a rather vast property, the daily presence of the gardener Mario is quite securing. One complaint here is that you can't do great cooking. To be honest, there's no need for it. Bolsena has a large palette of shops (I highly recommend "pasta Fresca" and the butcher at the end of the road, the Coop shop has a good selection of cheese, local vines and ham). Sitting at the terrace for breakfast and dinner offers you a daily splendor viewing the lake. Nuff said: go get it! Oh, I forgot: the pool and the shadowed space on it are sheer comfort on hot afternoons.

Have it all: Cute house , wonderfull view & lovely wimming pool We were very surprised to have this beautifull house near to the lake of Bolsena. The owners treated us as real guests when we arrived, very friendly. After that we had this lovely place all by ourselves for a whole week. It’s perfect to relax, swim, prepare a bbq, and to visit the region and places like Orvieto. We already want to come back!

Incredibly beautifully decorated house with impeccably well kept gardens. A must see/stay for Italy friends. Two things one needs to know: the garden is shared with the owners and the kitchen is ideal only for small dishes - not for someone who likes cooking extensively.

Small paradise with a wonderful view

We were very happy to stay in the nice house. It is very well kept and clean and nicely decorated. A good fit for us (two adults and a child) but we wouldn't recommend if you are more than four as there is one bedroom and a pull-out sofa in the main room. The private swimming pool was a big hit and the house is situated in what can best be described as a private park with spectacular views of Lago Bolsena. Laurence and Aldo also have three sweet cats that our son enjoyed having around. It is conveniently located close to Bolsena and can be a good base to venture out to see other sights. It is a short drive from Orvietto, Civita di Bagnoreggio, Villa Farnese etc. We would definitely recommend this and would love to stay there again in the future.

Perfection of peaceful, rural location with spectacular views

Firstly we were warmly welcomed to Aldo & Laurence place then showed around the extensive garden, swimming pool, cottage and the views of Bolsena Lake. Everything felt perfect and immediately comfortable. Bed and pillows gave us a great night sleep every night. There were three very friendly cats which didn't pester too much at all and we enjoyed their company when they were there. The Pool area was superb with good shelter if you wanted it and the Sun shines on the pool virtually all day. If you want to eat at the cottage then there is everything you need for food preparation and utensils etc.. The BBQ is great to use and a good size too. Bolsena Town is just a 2 minute drive down the hill and has plenty of places to eat and drink both inside or out. Basically we ate all meals outside the cottage in the shade of the climbing roses overhead looking at the stunning views of the countryside and the glorious Bolsena Lake. Such tranquility all day every day. Everyone in the small town were friendly and very helpful in translation when required. To be honest, I would love to keep this place secret for my Wife & I but I would gladly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a holiday where they can relax, unwind and re-charge. This is a place where we hope to re-visit in the future......

Unforgettable stay in Alto Lazio

This was probably one of the best accommodations in Italy I have ever stayed at. I wish that we would have spent more than one week there, because it was truly a magical and restful place. The setting couldn't have been more charming and the inside space was homely and welcoming. The garden is breathtaking, perfectly kept and everything is where it should be. You can enjoy a lovely view of the lake from the house and from the swimming pool. The little house, perfectly fitted, is equipped with everything you need. Laurence and Aldo were perfect hosts, we had a problem on our way coming and we arrived later than planned, but we were warmly welcomed. You can even find a homemade cake and marmelades waiting for you in the kitchen! They gave us helpful advices about what to do in the region (we spent one day in Siena, visited Orvieto, the Parco dei Mostri in Bomarzo and Civita di Bagnoregio which is very close). You can also enjoy the center of Bolsena which is only 5 minutes by car from the house. This is truly a quiet and idyllic place that I would strongly recommend !
