About this property
"Spoon Rest" - 30 Acres Nestled in the Nantahala National Forest
Our charming 2-bedroom, 2-bath cedar post and beam house, is nestled in the Nantahala National Forest. Come stay in any season - experience the beautiful blooms of spring, beat the heat of summer, enjoy the bright colors of fall foliage, and romp in the snow of winter.
There are 30 acres of beautifully maintained property. It is surrounded by beautiful forest which will beckon you to explore. Access trails to the Bartram Trail are only steps from the front gate. This area is heaven for hikers with an abundance of trails that range from easy to difficult.
Bird watchers can also experience great adventures trying to identify the huge array of species in the front yard! There are barred owls, scarlet tanagers, cedar waxwing and worm eating warblers, just to name a few. However, nothing beats the morning and evening song of the melodious wood thrush. You can relax on the front deck and watch deer graze, turkey wander, and red tail hawks soar. The expansive view from the deck looks at Scaly Mountain, NC.
Our home is very comfortable and spacious with lovely décor. The large master suite has a king and the loft bedroom has a queen bed. There are two full baths, one with a relaxing claw foot tub. There is a fully equipped kitchen. (but the gourmet fare in the town of Highlands, NC, is well worth the 30-minute scenic drive.)
There are many local attractions that include zip lining, mountain coasters, gem mining, white water rafting, fly-fishing, hiking, the Great Smoky Mountain Railway, winter tubing, skiing and snowboarding, ice skating, scenic drives, The Blue Ridge Parkway, and live theatre at the Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center in Franklin and The Highlands Playhouse in Highlands.
Back at home, if you find yourself inside, there is also a HD flat screen and High Speed Wi-Fi with Roku Streaming.
Enjoy a holiday at “Spoon Rest”. We think you’ll want to return again and again. (All photographs are taken on the property)

Our hosts at Spoon Rest were top tier! The cabin was absolutely amazing. The view was incredible. They thought of everything! Our first vacation out of state for a Holiday and we had the best time! Will definitely plan to go back.
Outstanding, secluded and peaceful. Very nice amenities. We enjoyed watching the deer every day. Our "fur baby' (yellow lab) had the time of her life with a 30-acre front yard. Bill & Heidi were outstanding hosts, and we have already booked our stay for next year.

Nice and cozy home in a very peaceful setting in the mountains. We had a great relaxing weekend with the dog, there was plenty of space for him to run around. The hosts were also very helpful and quick to respond.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The kids had a great time exploring the property and we all enjoyed the pond. It's a great location. It feels remote, but is only a short drive to town. The owners are very helpful with tips and ideas on places to visit.
