About this property

Maine Cabin with 3 acres on the Schoodic Peninsula

*2023 dates now available to book*
Due to schedule restraints with our hardworking cleaners, we strongly prioritize Mon-Sun reservation requests as our cleaners are available on Mondays*

A cozy cabin near the sea! Tucked away beyond a lighthouse on 3 acres of wooded land on the Schoodic Peninsula you'll find Bear Run Cabin. The cabin offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and outdoor garden paths to meander through with the sound of the ocean in the distance. This is a quiet spot yet is close to the fishing village of Corea and village of Winter Harbor offering ferry service (about 50 minutes) to Bar Harbor in Acadia National Park.

The Schoodic Peninsula is located four miles east of Bar Harbor as the crow flies and is just under an hour's drive. The entrance to this portion of Acadia National Park (the only portion of the park on the main land) is about 10 minutes down the road and is an absolutely breathtaking way to spend the afternoon. There are bike/walking trails and gorgeous spots to pull over to enjoy the scenery and wildlife in the 3,500 additional acres of Acadia National Park located here.

The compact cabin is 850 sq. feet split between two levels and has a cozy living area, kitchen with bar seating, a small dining room seating 4, one very small bedroom and a full bathroom downstairs. The small first level bedroom has a trundle/twin bed with the bottom twin bed popping up to normal height and accommodates 2 people. Upstairs is a larger, open space with a queen bed, second full bathroom and a small balcony. We are not oceanfront or ocean view, but you can hear and smell the ocean across the road and hear the soft hum of lobster boats in the morning.

The full kitchen is well stocked with a coffee maker and grinder, coffee/tea, plates, utensils, pots/pans, microwave, toaster, lobster pot etc. We don't supply condiments aside from spices and salt/pepper so be sure to pack what you need.

It's the perfect spot to unwind in Downeast Maine!

ADDITIONAL INFO TO KNOW:

Lawn service occurs one weekday each week for mowing/weed whacking.

6 nights (Monday to Sunday) is the minimum reservation unless a prior arrangement is made with owners.

An exterior security camera is on the property monitoring the entrance.

CHECK-IN is 4pm and CHECK-OUT is 10:00am.

We supply one set of cotton sheets per bed and bath towels. Please bring your own beach towels. There is no on-site laundry, but there is a laundromat in the village of Winter Harbor about 10 min away.

The internet speed is adequate, albeit slower, and we've had successful zoom calls here but it can be spotty. Phone reception is generally good. Streaming is hit or miss.

There is a small TV upstairs with various DVDs but no cable connection.

We have a number of board games and books at the cabin for guests.

Although we love them, NO PETS of any kind are allowed.

We require all renters to sign a short-term lease agreement for everyone's protection.

COVID-19 INFO:
*We closely follow the Maine CDC requirements for COVID-19 restrictions and reserve the right to modify a reservation if necessary based on ever-changing guidelines. If the owners must cancel a reservation due to restrictions put into place, any prepaid fees will be fully refunded to renters.

*Our cabin is professionally cleaned after each rental. We can provide more info about cleaning practices upon request.

*If you must cancel your reservation due to a COVID-19 exposure or illness, you may do so at any time before your rental date with your prepaid fee 100% refunded. If proof of negative COVID-19 testing is a requirement by the State of Maine, we will require that proof before entry info is provided to the cabin.

Thank you for understanding as we navigate these requirements!

6 lovely nights!
We had a lovely 6 nights at Bear Run and would have gladly stayed for many more! The internet was a tad slow for two of us working but we expected this and made it work just fine. The kitchen is well stocked and we really enjoyed cooking and baking with ingredients from the farms and seafood co-ops on the peninsula.

About the host

We are Maine residents with a love for the coast!

Why they chose this property

We took one look at this property and fell head-over-heels for the mossy, wooded location near the ocean and noble bears keeping watch over the gardens with waves crashing in the distance. We hope that you love and enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

We are tucked into the trees across the road from waterfront properties and the ocean. If you peak through the trees you can catch a small glimpse of the water but there is no true water view. You can hear the waves crashing, listen to lobster boats in the morning, and smell the ocean air. It's lovely!
