Perfect for one or two

It's our 3rd time in this cottage and it gets better everytime. This time we knew to bring zip ties to hold the two twin beds together which actually made a king size bed that we just lounged on when we were relaxing. There was still enough room to pass by. The only change we'd make is a bigger coffee pot and a bigger fan . Otherwise it's easy to get all over town from this cottage! And yet far enough that the noise from town doesn't bother you.

Needs update

If you don’t mind living on a slant it is fine. Appears to be sliding down the hill. Very small, do not stay there is 6’ and 200lbs. Definitely for only one person. Especially if you don’t want to end your marriage.

I try to make the size very clear in the description and photos. I do say it is meant for 1 person. It is an old cabin (never perfect). I cannot discriminate against large people and say that in my listing, but he is right. Some people value price over comfort. This cabin is for the young and young at heart.

Downtown cabin from well above street level

Check in was rough the intro email was buried in trash or junk folder and need email address LT TAYLOR to retrieve. Very small cabin but served our needs, up very early and hiking everyday. Bit tricky figuring out how to prepare and cook food in a tiny kitchen but we did. Bathroom not for larger people tiny. Definitely not typical but what we expected and would rent here again.

Yes, this cabin is one of the original tiny homes. We provide all the photos to show our guests what to expect. And we hope everyone enjoys the peaceful outdoor setting with the convenience of being close to downtown.

Nutshell

Great little spot with easy access to the Rocky Mountains. Proximity to the main Estes Park drag a plus, the hot tub definitely a plus, overall a cute little space. However, improvements to the unit could include fixing the light outside of the door as it is hard to see on the property at night, updating the light fixtures and switches so you can turn on the lights inside the unit without wandering through the dark cabin and finding a lamp. The cabin itself can use some work as it is slightly tilting to one side but I'm not sure that would be an easy fix. In general, I think some upgrades to the furniture and appliances could greatly enhance the space but it could get the job done depending on how long you stay there and your purpose.

We appreciate when guests tell us what needs improvements. We will look at what we can do to improve the lighting situation. We and our cleaning people always enter during the daylight so we don't always experience the same things that a guest might. We have to remember that this cabin was built a long time ago and is very unique. Not much furniture fits in it because it is small. And as far as the appliance goes, I think it would be difficult to find one to replace it. ( and it still works ) I have included photos so everyone sees what is there and knows what to expect. We are glad people can enjoy our perfect little spot in Estes. Thanks, we are always evaluating and trying to improve.

Beautiful View and Nice hot tub (shared)

I loved the view from the cabin of the Rocky Mountains. The hot tub was the best thing about this rental, with the same view and a nice deck to eat on, IF no one is renting the shared bigger house about 3 feet away from the Nutshell. Pay attention to the description, the floor is very much slanted, so much that my suitcase rolled from side to side of the house . The bed needs to be replaced; it's an iron trundle bed that is also slanted because of the floor, which makes it not very comfortable. Lots of people walk up and down the hill so privacy is just not there, and the downtown area gets VERY noisy on weekends. Blackout drapes would be a good suggestion; the light comes in from the downtown area at night. BUT for the cost, its affordable to stay longer. The host was responsive and helpful. Loved seeing the visiting Elk. Stairs directly to the downtown were useful to just take a walk by the river, eat, or shop.

I loved the location and views from the property. It was a cozy cabin for one or two people. The only concern I had was the issue with the heat not working nor was the security lights above the hottub working. Overall loved my stay

Cute cabin

Super location. I walked down the stairs and was in the middle of town. Shops, restaurants and a couple parks. RMNP just a short drive. I brought food and clothes, the dishes, towels, and even washer and dryer were available on site. If you want to bring more people they have cabins for families

Bathroom

I liked the place but the bathroom needs repair. I understand that there is limited space but the floor slants to the small kitchen and the shower does not block water due to the very small floor lip so I need to wipe up the floor in the bathroom and in the kitchen for a very short shower.

Cute little cabin

We enjoyed our stay here for a weekend. However the hot tub was absolutely disgusting, low water, trash floating around, stinky. We didn’t get it, but the cabin next door parties both nights in it, loudly, so that could have been the reason behind that. Overall a cute place though.

We are very sorry about the hot tub issue. We rely on our guests to tell us if there is a problem and we will remedy it RIGHT away. I do not believe we heard anything about this issue until now. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Thanks

Our stay in a Nutshell

This little cabin was absolutely perfect. Views were stunning, we ate breakfast while looking at the continental divide, took a few steps and were on the main drag of downtown Estes Park. I would highly recommend this stay to any couple. I know we will be back next year ourselves.

Close to shops and restaurants

It was a nice and cozy stay in "Nutshell". A bit of trouble with the lockbox at check-in, but the problem was resolved quickly. It was great to be right in town, and just a very short walk from shops and restaurants.
