This spacious home provided our family with lots of open space to share together as well as private bedrooms / bathrooms to enjoy our privacy. Close to town and NE Harbor. Owners were very kind and easy to communicate with prior and during our stay. Great experience!!

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
*AVOID* AVOID* AVOID*This house is filthy. It was not cleaned before we arrived, and it is evident that cleaning and maintenance has never been a priority here. It is rundown and neglected in every possible way. The paint is peeling all over the outside and algae covers the porch with dirty broken dilapidated furniture. The inside has ceilings peeling, no screens on windows, mold and mildew throughout bathrooms, an oven covered in years of cooking drippings, cobwebs and mice droppings throughout all of the cabinets. Lightbulbs are out all over, the bathroom fan hangs by a wire, dust on the ceiling fans have a measurable depth. The linens were dirty with the few ancient towels smelling of mildew and covered in stains. This was a true vacation nightmare.Traveling with a family to a remote resort destination over a summer holiday weekend, with a dog in tow, and guests arriving from across the country does not allow for options at the last minute. We were all trapped in this horror show. The owner responded to our despair and came the next day to attempt to clean the kitchen and shampoo a muddy bedroom carpet. The owner admitted to the obvious that the house had not been cleaned but was remarkably unfazed by the overall condition. The owner also left us with several mousetraps and a jar of peanut butter to trap the mice ourselves. Worst place ever!

This person is an entitled, wealthy, loser who can’t read instructions and was upset because our house didn’t have private dock for her yacht. This is what happens when you rent to wealthy snobs. All 5 star reviews given before this clown. She stays for 2 weeks then try’s to take back all your money despite staying at your property for the entire duration. Exactly how wealthy people get rich! Don’t rent to this Karen!
The girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay here - it was a very big house for just the two of us, but the short distance from Acadia and the amenities of this listing were impossible to pass up. Will definitely stay here again if we find ourselves going back to Maine in the future.
Quirky location but quiet with friendly neighbor. Suitable for a family, there are three separate sleeping areas, each with privacy. Close proximity to harbor, shops, and restaurants. Just 1.3 miles to the Acadia carriage path entrance. Nice location for a biking visit. Northeast Harbor is quiet get away compared to the hubbub of Bar Harbor.
Perfect vacation house for the family in the quaint town of Northeast Harbor. Very accommodating owner of this house located within walking distance of town and many trails.
Very beautiful house. The owner responded to messages right away. We enjoyed our stay very much. In a great location close to shops and bike rentals in northeast harbor. Close to bike trails and short drive to bar harbor. Can't wait to go back.
Beautiful, well maintained home and in a wonderful location. Owners/property managers were very kind. We had a last minute booking due to other property falling through. The house was great and we were even able to get in a little early. Very clean. Neighbors are nice. Short walk to the water. Will definitely come back again!
The house was beautiful. We were a large group of 8 people. It was well located. Plumbing in the house is extremely poor. Within 3 hours of us arriving 2 toilets were revealed to be clogged and the sink was clogged. The owner requested us to do a load of dishes and do a load of laundry before leaving which felt strange because we were still paying a hefty cleaning fee. However we agreed and ended up doing 2 dishwasher loads and a load of laundry. However the owner still tried to randomly charge us an extra $250 after we left the property claiming a 'plumbing fees' and that we had left the property dirty. It was surprising because the plumbing was an existing problem in the property , and we had extensively cleaned up + paid a hefty cleaning fees , and with a large group as the house claims to accommodate didn't realize that the owner would be so unreasonable about cleaning
We had a very short stay due to our activities, but the cottage met all our needs. It was a bit difficult to figure out which cottage was the correct one as we drove into the back yard. Couldn't find the garbage container to put our garbage out in, but otherwise everything was fine. A nice quiet neighborhood.
Threave Cottage was a perfect place for us--spacious, comfortable, and homelike. Being on the quiet side of the island allowed us experience the Acadia/Mount Desert Island without the crowds. Staying at Threave Cottage enabled us to relax and unwind. Highly recommend!
It’s a good space for hanging out with a large group. The area is very quiet and close to the center of town.
The host requested that we leave earlier than the check out time because they had another guest coming on the day left. They also requested a significant amount of clean up including sweeping, starting a load of laundry and putting away all dishes (not just cleaning them).
