About this property
Open, cozy studio apartment getaway!
A studio/efficiency apartment with lots of natural light on the lower level of a recently built house in the beautiful, peaceful mountains of Western NC. It has one main/great room and a separate bathroom. Plus an outdoor patio that's a good spot to chill or eat dinner during good weather. In short, it's a great getaway that's still within 15-40 minutes of much to do. The area is filled with talented artisans of all kinds.
The community (High Cove) is equidistant from Bakersville, Burnsville and Spruce Pine, NC, each within 20 minutes. It's also convenient to Penland School of Craft (15 minutes), and about 40 minutes from Mount Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi. Spending a day in Asheville is also an option. It's a very tourist friendly town with shopping, restaurants, music, art, and more. Downtown Asheville is an hour away.
Guest access: the apartment is self contained with an entirely separate entrance. Other than (perhaps) sharing the washer/dryer in the utility room, the space is all yours.
PLEASE NOTE: we are located on wooded land with extensive hiking trails. Getting to the house requires traveling on a gravel road for about 2/10ths of a mile that is steep in spots. All the easier if you have an all-wheel drive vehicle.

About the host
Hosted by Kevin Silva

I moved to the western NC mountains in late 2017 and spent about a year building a small (green built), efficient house in a beautiful and peaceful area in the Appalachian Mountains. I work for myself as a semi-retired voice actor, and also an active volunteer for multiple organizations. I've traveled a great deal and know what I look for in a good host. I provide the same to my guests.
