We had a great time celebrating my father-in-law‘s 80th birthday! There were 15 of us, seven “kids” from 17 to 20s and four adult couples. The house had everything we needed. We prepared and served all the meals at the house and had plenty of seating on the back deck to eat. We put up an easy-up on the deck for shade and the entirety of the day was spent outside, what an amazing view!!! We utilized the gazebo for shade during the day and in the evenings we enjoyed fires in the firepit! The weather was beautiful. The kids enjoyed the game room, swimming/floating on the lake, fishing, whiffle ball and volleyball. There was always plenty to do. Some of them went up the street about a 15 minute drive to play putt putt and get ice cream, and the Food Lion is 10 minutes away. We will definitely be back!
Our stay was at the end of September and the water was a very warm 94 degrees. The home is in a beautiful setting and we practically had the whole private side of the lake to ourselves for several days. The home is large with lots of bunks for kids and a detached game room they will love. Jan is quick to respond and provide assistance. We had a very good stay at Cougar Point!

AMAZING VACA
The property is beautiful and the house can accommodate a large group--it has all the amenities you need, with added bonuses like the game room. It's a great stay for families of all ages...the nice sandy bottom at the entrance to the water is shallow and great for the littles. Being on the private side, the water temp is enjoyable, even in mid-April. The huge beach is fun too!
The owner is super easy to work with and responds quickly to inquiries.
Thanks for an amazing stay, Jan! We'll be back!
Everything about our stay was wonderful. First and foremost, the house was very clean. House layout, with bedrooms upstairs and downstairs, worked out great as the family with young kids had the lower level to themselves. Kitchen equipped with everything we needed. Big grassy yard lead down to the lake, where many fun hours were spent. Deck with picnic tables and the gas grill were also put to good use. The owner was in contact with us after our reservation was confirmed to ask if we had any questions or if he could help in any way…very helpful. Everyone had a great week.
Our family stayed at this rental for our annual family vacation and a great time was had by all! The house is beautiful and the property/view is exquisite! Plenty of room for the ten of us to spread out but comfortably watch a movie or share a meal together. The owners have thought of everything - the kitchen is fully stocked with any appliance or utensil you might need and there were plenty of towels, linens, games, etc. The owner is very responsive, accommodating, and helpful!
The game room was a huge bonus for the kids and adults! We enjoyed fishing off the dock and making s'mores over the fire pit! The water was warm, as expected, so we took a day trip to the beach at Lake Anna State Park where the water was a little cooler. We also enjoyed all the local restaurants, putt-putt golf and antique shopping! All in all, we had a fabulous time!
Our entire family spent a wonderful week at the lake. There are so many good points about this house. The kitchen is large enough to accommodate cooking meals for many people. The four bathrooms were appropriate for the number of people. While the bedroom layouts may not work for all families, we made it work for ours. One more bedroom with a full or queen size bed would have been perfect for our family, but, like I said, we made it work.
The game room was a nice place for the kids and adults to play. The yard was amazing. We commented all week how wonderful the grass felt on our bare feet and how much we enjoyed the sunrises and views of the water. The dock was really nice and the kids enjoyed jumping off of it.
The biggest downfall of the week was that the water was really hot. We were prepared for it to be warm because we were on the private side of the lake, but it was not refreshing at all. That didn't stop us from boating a lot and swimming a little.
All in all, we enjoyed our time at Cougar Point. There is nothing better than spending time with family and making unforgettable memories in such a beautiful place.
We stayed at this lake house on Lake Anna in late July/early August. While the house itself was generally fine—clean, reasonably well-equipped, and as described in terms of layout and amenities—we were disappointed with the lakefront experience, which was the main reason we booked the property.During our stay, the water temperature was an astonishing 102 degrees. Unfortunately, this made swimming or enjoying the lake very uncomfortable, if not impossible. What’s frustrating is that this crucial detail was not mentioned in the listing. Given how central lake access is to a rental like this, we would have appreciated a heads-up about how warm the water gets in mid-summer, especially since part of Lake Anna is known to receive discharge from a power plant that significantly raises the water temperature. If you’re planning a trip specifically for lake activities during the peak of summer, we’d recommend doing some research about the water temps or choosing a spot on the cooler side of the lake. Otherwise, if you’re just looking for a place to stay near the water and aren’t planning to swim, the house itself is perfectly serviceable.
This was a perfect spot for our family vacation. The children enjoyed the ability to play in the water due to the boat ramp gradual slope. It was a very quiet and peaceful location.
My family was so excited to be at Lake Ana for a family gathering for Thanksgiving. The home didn't disappoint any of us. The house is beautiful, clean, well-kept, well-stocked, spacious rooms (more than enough for all of us) and a very homely feel to it. The owner is extremely accommodating and replies immediately...which I really loved.
We loved, loved, loved the fire pit right next to the water. We also loved the fact that we were able to do karaoke, near the fire pit, because there was a pole with electricity right near the fire pit.
We had a blast and really hated to leave but seriously thinking about coming back in the summertime to enjoy the dock and water.
The only downfall is that the internet didn't work in the lower level floor (it didn't bother me at all but other family members wanted it downstairs). The host was informed and I'm quite sure he will rectify it.
Oh, there is also a gameroom which the younger group thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. You will too.
Jan's house was perfect for our group of adults with two toddlers. We really loved all the outside seating for having our meals outside, and the fire pit and dock and big lawns were great for spreading out. There were plenty of bedrooms for our group and tons of towels (not always a given!!). Jan was very responsive to the few questions and check in and check out were smooth and easy. The property was also not too far from the Dollar General or Food Lion/ABC Store so it was easy to get supplies. Recommended!
Fabulous house with plenty of room for a large group. The property is awesome with a fabulous lake view. Just breathtaking. Plenty of room for your group to spread out. An added bonus is the fabulous detached game room. Awesome hang out spot for the group of college kids we hosted. Down by the lake there is an amazing gazebo with a propane fire pit plus there is a wood burning fire lit perfect t for evening g fires and s’mores. Just an awesome weekend we had. We will definitely be renting this place again. Jan is an amazing owner and very responsive to texts and calls. 10 out of 10.
The place is nice and true to posting. Owner is friendly and respond to questions promptly. We really enjoy the fall season, with beautiful turning colors, scenery and kayaking.
We had a very nice work retreat at this location - peaceful, clean, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. My whole team agreed we'd like to come back next year. And the water really was warm, even in mid October! My only advice is to bring EVERYTHING you might need other than salt, pepper, hand soap, and dish soap. We had to immediately go out for toilet paper and paper towels because there was very little of each, and unlike other rental houses I have stayed in there were no condiments, shampoos, or other basic kitchen/bathroom supplies either left by other renters or supplied by the host. Luckily between the six of us we had brought everything else.
This is a great place for an extended family to stay. Definitely the best equipped house we have rented, including kitchen items, game room and sleeping arrangements. Location provides for privacy, with necessities within a 10-15 minute drive.
This was a no brainer. Jan was a wonderful host, promptly responding to questions and concerns. The house was very clean, with lots of room to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked for creating and eating meals. The game room and volleyball court were big hits every day. The gazebo and fire pit were also very popular for sunrise, sunset, and evening activities. There is plenty of water front and the dock was perfect to jump off. A downside in that there is no beach unless the boxed in volleyball court is being counted as such. The water was warm but the state park was not far away and was a very nice area to hike and swim. I would definitely recommend this place.
Had a good weekend here with family to celebrate a birthday. The highlight was the fire ring and patio by the water. The kids loved playing in the water which was nice and warm even in October.
Double check the listing about what is included. There was no extra toilet paper so bring your own. Kitchen was stocked but it would have been nice to have foil to use on the grill. Overall though was a nice place and would definitely come back.
We loved our time here! It was a quiet location on the lake with wonderfully warm water temps for September to swim. The fire pit area was also a highlight. Nice kitchen and very clean. We highly recommend this home.
We had a wonderful time! The property is beautiful! The water was too warm to swim in but perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. The state park is a short drive away where the water is perfect for swimming. We would definitely recommend this property.
Everything was clean and functional. Had a wonderful time with the family. Lake, volleyball, fire pit, game room kept everyone happy. Excellent property owner.
Overall a great stay and great location! Cleanliness was good, only complaint was that the rugs did not seem to be vacuumed as there was dog hair on them still. Kitchen was stocked well, and we cooked every night.
The house was clean and spacious, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. There was abundant space for our family of 8 to spread out. The property is beautiful and there were plenty of outside activities to enjoy. The lake is pretty and quiet. The only small downside was that the water was a bit too warm for our taste, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the swimming anyways.

About the host
Hosted by Jan L Rosenberg
We have been coming to Lake Anna since the mid eighties. We lived in Maryland, and bought our first vacation house at the lake in 1988. We built our current home in 1996. When I retired at the end of 2013, we moved here full time. We live next door to Cougar Point.
Why they chose this property
I have been taking care of this property for Dan Cougar, the previous owner, since 2014, and when Dan decided to sell, it was a good fit for us. We are very responsive to any needs you may have.
What makes this property unique
There is a nice size deck for enjoying dinner and conversation outside, with a great view of the Lake. The way this unique property is situated makes for a very private setting. You are not in a crowded cove where you feel like you are on top of the neighbors. Nice volleyball court. Boat ramp. New dock in spring of 2017. Plenty of off street parking.
