The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped. We also really liked the area, with lots of good walks available nearby. The communication from Amanda was great, which was really important as we booked at short notice.

Thank you for the lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We also enjoy Elberry Cove which is such a lovely place to walk dogs, swim and have picnics. Dartmoor is a lovely place to visit too, plenty of very scenic walks and rich in history.
Property in excellent position for visiting Greenway.
Lovely pub in the village , very friendly and serves excellent food.
Property is just too full of nik-naks, no surface was left unadorned.
Our third visit & we'll be coming back again next year.
A lovely cosy, relaxing cottage within easy reach of everywhere. A good local pub (Manor) within a few minutes walk, had a couple of meals there.
Very near to both Brixham & Goodrington Beach and we went to Bigbury-on-Sea (Burgh Island) and Kingsbridge, which were just over an hour away.
Dartmouth is also a very easy commute as is Dartmoor & Tavistock.
A lovely cosy cottage in a very nice village location
This is our second stay at this cosy cottage which contains everything you need for a relaxing & enjoyable holiday.
The weather was kind this year so following our return from a busy day out, we were able to sit & sunbathe in the back garden most days.
A central location, we visited Tavistock, Teignmouth, Dartmouth, Brixham, Goodrington Sands, Paignton & Torquay to name but a few!
We'll be returning.
Peaceful setting within a friendly village. Secure garden was a huge advantage with a dog. Everything we needed was supplied. Huge amount of crockery etc, and good appliances. Good to have off road parking, although turning the car in the drive, or reversing in or out was not easy. No hesitation in recommending.
The location of the property is in a small village. Quiet and very relaxing.
The property is very well equipped with everything one would need for a trouble-free stay.
There is a pub in the village and Brixham, Totnes and Dartmouth are a short drive away.
Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Mandy and Martin’s beautiful cottage. Communication was brilliant with lots of great advice on local outings (which was well received - thank you). Cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and had everything we needed and more. My 3 year old also loved all of the soft toys, books and games. The garden was beautiful too - so private and pretty with all of the ornaments and lights! We also loved the local pub - the food there was amazing and so family friendly. We loved the location, such a pretty, peaceful and friendly village and so close to Brixham, Goodrington and Broadsands. Also a lovely little walk to Galmpton Creek. We will definitely be returning. This place is a real gem and would highly recommend. Thank you very much Mandy and Martin :)
Property as listed, walks from the door- 30min walk to nearest beach (broadsands) or short drive. Easy access to local shops - Sainsbury's short drive. Local pub within walking distance

About the host
Hosted by Amanda
We’re Mandy and Martin, and we live just along the coast in Torquay, but Galmpton has always felt like part of our family story. My grandparents and parents lived in the village, and many of my childhood memories are tied to its lanes, beaches and the gentle curve of the River Dart. My grandfather was Agatha Christie’s bank manager and knew her personally, so stories of Greenway and the Christie family were simply part of everyday life growing up.
The cottage reflects everything we love about this area: peaceful corners, sea air, friendly pubs, and the feeling of stepping into a slower rhythm. I’ve always been happiest near the water and spend as much time as I can boating, diving and enjoying the coastline. Martin is never far from an engine—boats, outboards, anything mechanical that hums—and he has a real affection for the maritime character of Torbay and the Dart.
We’ve shaped Wildflowers Cottage to be a place where guests can truly unwind. It’s comfortable, calm and filled with thoughtful touches: a sunny garden for morning coffee, a conservatory for relaxed meals, and cosy spaces to read, chat or plan the next adventure. Dogs are warmly welcomed, because we know how important it is to travel with every member of the family, and the local walks are some of the best in Devon.
Our hope is that you’ll feel the same sense of ease and belonging here that our family has felt for generations. Whether you’re exploring the beaches, discovering the footpaths, enjoying the steam train or simply sitting in the garden listening to the birds, Wildflowers Cottage is a place to slow down, breathe out and enjoy the beauty of South Devon.
Why they chose this property
We’re Mandy and Martin, we live in Torbay and Galmpton will always feel like home. My family has lived in the village for three generations, and many of my happiest childhood summers were spent here. I grew up exploring the green lanes, watching the steam train rumble past and collecting shells on Broadsands Beach. The village is woven into our family history in a lovely way, my Grandpa was the bank manager of the Brixham branch of Lloyds Bank and he was Agatha Christie’s bank manager, knowing her personally. Stories of Greenway and the Christie family were simply part of everyday life.
We both love the coast and spend as much time as we can on the water. I enjoy boating, diving and anything that involves the sea, while Martin is happiest around engines, boats, outboards, anything mechanical with character. He has a real affection for the maritime heritage of Torbay and the River Dart and we both enjoy the watching the steam train or taking a walk down to the shore. Wildflowers Cottage reflects what we value most: comfort, calm and a sense of belonging. We’ve shaped it to be a place where guests can truly unwind, with a sunny garden for morning coffee, a conservatory for relaxed meals, and cosy corners to read, chat or plan the next adventure. Dogs are warmly welcomed, because we know how important it is to travel with every member of the family, and the local walks are some of the loveliest in Devon. Our hope is that you’ll feel the same ease and warmth in Galmpton that our family has felt for generations. Whether you’re exploring the beaches, discovering the footpaths, enjoying the steam train or simply sitting in the garden listening to the birds, Wildflowers Cottage offers a gentle, peaceful place to slow down and enjoy the beauty of South Devon.
What makes this property unique
Wildflowers Cottage is unique because it’s more than a holiday home, it’s part of a three generation family story rooted in the heart of Galmpton. My grandparents and parents lived in the village, and many of my childhood summers were spent exploring the green lanes, watching the steam train pass by and collecting shells on Broadsands Beach. My Grandpa was the bank manager of the Brixham branch of Lloyds Bank and personally knew Agatha Christie, so stories of Greenway and the Christie family were woven into everyday life. That sense of heritage and belonging gives the cottage a warmth you can feel the moment you arrive.
The cottage itself offers a peaceful, private setting with a pretty garden, a sunny conservatory and quiet corners to relax after a day exploring the coast. Guests love dining in the conservatory overlooking the garden or enjoying breakfast outside in the fresh air. The long driveway provides easy parking for two cars, and the location is ideal for discovering the River Dart, Broadsands Beach, Elberry Cove and the beautiful South Devon coastline.
We welcome dogs because we know how important it is to travel with every member of the family. The walks nearby are some of the loveliest in Devon, from gentle riverside paths to coastal routes with stunning views. The steam train, vintage bus to Greenway, and nearby ferries to Dartmouth and Dittisham add a nostalgic charm that makes a stay here feel special.
Wildflowers Cottage stands out because it combines comfort, heritage and a true sense of place. It’s a home filled with family history, seaside memories and thoughtful touches designed to help guests slow down, unwind and enjoy the best of South Devon.
