The place was tucked away nicely. The place was really great! I would’ve definitely rated 5 stars but the only downfall was the housekeeping. Upon arrival, the prior guests had all of the amenities strolled everywhere. The beds weren’t made, the towels we had were wet from them already being used, and the trash had no bags in them. Overall a nice place! Just lacking a little in the housekeeping.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for your kind words about the cabin itself—we’re so glad you enjoyed the location and overall experience.
We sincerely apologize for the housekeeping issue you encountered upon arrival. This was due to a rare glitch in our cleaning schedule system, and we are aware of the oversight. This is not typical for us, and we’ve taken immediate steps to correct the error and ensure it doesn’t happen again in the future.
We truly appreciate your understanding and are grateful that you still enjoyed your stay. We’d love the chance to welcome you back and provide the flawless experience we’re known for.

Everything was nice and clean including the hot tub
This cabin is high up the mountain. We enjoyed it especially the hot tub. Seen a bear walk past on the first day. You will want a awd vehicle for the driveway because it's very steep.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at our cabin! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, especially the hot tub and the unique experience of seeing a bear walk past on the first day of your stay.
Thank you for choosing our cabin for your vacation, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any special requests or concerns before your next stay.
Our family of four enjoyed our stay at Moonshine Chalet during the holidays. A few things to note…the driveway is super steep. If you travel during potential winter weather months, I recommend a four wheel drive vehicle. The view was beautiful and the chalet was stocked with all that we needed.

So sorry it was the coldest weather in 33 years, its not a regular thing but when it happens its rough. thanks for staying with us
Wonderful cabin for our first trip to Tennessee!! Extremely clean and true to what the pictures show! Spacious and perfect fit for our family of 5! We saw bears daily.
Pool table on the deck doesn’t really work well and a cable box in the family room would be nice! Definitely be prepared for the steep driveway!
Amazing trip!!

Good Location....Wish there was more Good!
Stay started off good. Mountain location is great! Easy to find and close to activities we were interested in. After several nights we noticed a musty smell that got progressively worse as the rain came.
We left early after two nights of no sleep due to the critters crawling in the walls.

Sorry about your issues.
I will check out your issues ASAP.
Very quiet location at the top of the mountain. When the other reviews said steep driveway they weren't kidding. The driveway was a very deep incline. After a 9min mountain drive. Peaceful view. Cabin was very clean and everything we needed for our family of 6.

Treacherous drive up to this cabin.
Treacherous roads up to this cabin to find yourself at a really steep driveway. This needs to be addressed in the description. Hot tub work but cover had to be manually taken off and wrestled back on. A lift would be ideal. Elderly people will have an issue with it. Other than that. Cabin is very clean and nice. Overall I would not stay here again based strictly off location and treacherous roads. Being in the location that it’s in I feel it’s overpriced.

Thank you for sharing your review, and we appreciate your feedback. We want to express our understanding that you have noted certain challenges with the road and steep driveway, as well as the hot tub cover.
We value your input, and we will take your comments into consideration to maintain transparency for future guests.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope you might consider staying with us again in the future.
Best regards,
The chalet itself is ok not great but ok however, the management is extremely horrible. We could not access our cabin due to bears. Bears were on our porch. They wouldn’t assist and told us to call the police. I called the police they were extremely friendly and help me get my small children and their grandmother inside the cabin. The next morning we came out to leave and a bear came back and destroyed my truck bed cover and my sons baseball bag that was in the back.
We had to call the police again. File a report and document everything. I called management to see if they would credit us for the last two nights because we were uncomfortable staying there and it was costing us from the bears tearing up our property. Management would listen to our concerns and would not consider crediting any nights back. She told me she wouldn’t penalize her homeowners but I asked her what about our property and the damages that were done. She didn’t care about the customers property and she ended up saying I was yelling, which I was not yelling, and management hung up on me.
They did not handle this matter in a professional matter at all. She did not care about the guest’s concerns at all. We will never be back.

Thank you for our recent conversation. I completely understand your concern for your family's safety, especially regarding the presence of bears nearby. However, I want to clarify our policy regarding refunds in such situations.
While we sympathize with your apprehension, we cannot issue refunds for encounters with wildlife during your stay. It's important to note that we are situated within the bears' habitat, and they are protected animals. Our options for managing their presence are limited, with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) being the primary authority to address such issues. They can attempt to deter the bears, but there's no guarantee they won't return.
Given that you expressed satisfaction with the property itself, it would be unfair to penalize the homeowner financially for circumstances beyond their control. Therefore, regrettably, we cannot accommodate your request for a refund in this instance.
I understand your disappointment and the frustration it may have caused, but leaving a one-star review solely due to this issue seems unjust considering the overall quality of your experience. We strive to provide exceptional service and accommodations to all our guests, and I hope you'll reconsider your review in light of this.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
We enjoyed our stay at Moonshine Chalet.
There were bears everywhere outside. They even opened our car doors a couple times. We had probably 30 sightings during our week stay. 😳 They would follow us to the car. 😳 I didn’t see any acting aggressive... more curious. But I still wouldn’t let my kids go outside without me. The bears obviously live close because there is a trail worn out between the two houses close by.
The inside of the house was great. Kitchen stocked well. Kids loved the hot tub.
Outside deck was slippery from all the rain recently but it was fine. There were lots of mosquitos on the deck so we didn’t spend much time out there. The kids enjoyed the hot tub every day! It does have a smell from the well water they use. But it seemed clean.
The master bedroom bed was VERY noisy/squeaky. It would wake up my baby when my husband would get into the bed 😒 But it was comfortable once you were in the bed 🤣
The pool table on the deck wasn’t functional and the game/arcade system didn’t have a cord to plug it up so that was a bit disappointing. We let them know a couple times about the arcade and it wasn’t fixed.
The washing machine/dryer combo was functional but it’s about 30 yrs old. It took a long time for clothes to dry but we were able to do a couple necessary loads of laundry.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin.

Pleasant property
This is a very pleasant and comfortable property.
A couple things you should know before choosing this property:
1) After booking, and paying via VRBO, you will be required to go to the property management's web site to perform several additional steps to complete your rental reservation.
2) We were unable to find a trash can or trash bags anywhere in the house (a bit ironic since you will be fined if you do not take your trash out before leaving).
3) We had to call the property managers on the second day of our stay as the door code no longer worked. It was quickly handled and corrected.
4) Do not choose this property unless you are comfortable driving on very narrow and extremely steep roads (this cannot be overstated).

Thanks so much for your review and please come back.
The cabin was so cozy and clean. It had everything we needed. I would suggest a shelter over the hot tub and a new shower head in the downstairs shower. Other than that we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this cabin!
Our family of 6 had a great time and the property fit our needs/wants. The arcade game and the board games were great. We saw bears daily. The place was overall clean. The location was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg, but still close enough to make a daily trip somewhere. The view is not spectacular, but it's definitely not awful and everything else makes up for it. I would feel comfortable recommending this property to a friend. I can tell the owners have taken pride making this vacation spot enjoyable. We also enjoyed the tickets to local attractions. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

Thanks for your review and I am happy you enjoyed your stay.
This cabin was very clean, very cozy, and had everything we needed. The views were gorgeous no matter the time of day. The driveway, was VERY steep. It was very hard to get turned around near the neighbors. Other than that, we were pleased with the property.
The cabin was very nice but closet doors in first floor bedroom didn’t open and shut easily as well as the glass doors going out on porch. It was roomy, well supplied as told and comfortable. It is high on the mountain with curvy road and steep driveway. We made it fine but was scary when started snowing so we came down to stay in hotel at lower elevation. Bear Camp was kind enough to put us in hotel since we had already paid for cabin. It was a great relaxing vacation spot though.
Our family had a great time at this cabin. Downtown Gatlinburg is just at the bottom of this mountain and very convenient. Pigeon Forge is convenient as well. Cabin is exactly as pictured. It was great for my husband and I and 2 teenagers. We had plenty of room for four of us. The parking area at this cabin is paved flat and plenty of room for two cars. The roads up to there are winding and steep, but in good condition. My 4 cylinder car made it just fine. Management company was very responsive and we loved getting free tickets to attractions. Best part for us is that we saw bears everyday outside our cabin or around nearby cabins. We kept our distance, but it was so neat seeing them. Wonderful vacation for us!!

Thanks Debra for your review and please come back.
My family and i stayed 6 nights at tge Moonshine Chalet. We had a fantastic time. The accommodations were very nice, with plenty of room for us to spread out. We loved the loft and the well stocked games bin and kitchen. The mountain roads were challenging at first, but once i got used to it, they weren't so bad. By the end of our stay, i could get to ski mountain road / river road in about 10 min. We saw bears around the cabin every day! It was awesome, but heed their warnings about securing your vehicle and food items. Things that we didnt care for included, the countertops are stainless steel and are sort of sharp on the underside of the edge. Two of us got knicks while opening the drawers before we figured out to open them from underneath. The deck was too small to use the pool table for us. The description mentioned being able to see the lights of gatlinburg at night. I believe you probably could see town in the winter, but in mid july, there is only a small beautiful window in the trees that you can see the mountains on the horizon.
Overall, these few negatives were no big deal. My family and i loved this property.
