About this property

Charming A-frame cottage✨Boone & Blowing Rock✨Bold Creek✨Huge Deck✨Hound Ears

Perfect Mountain Getaway - minutes away from all the NC mountains have to offer.

Classic, recently remodeled, treehouse A-frame on a lot with beautiful boulders, bold creek and winter views of Grandfather Mountain. When you arrive, step into a fairytale setting.

Come relax & enjoy! Our mountain cottage is small enough for a romantic get-away, but roomy enough for two families or three couples.

Sip a glass of wine with a loved one or friends while you sit beside the gorgeous bold creek that runs through the property. Hunt for crayfish & salamanders with the kids. Take a stroll through the huge boulders that surround you. A truly spectacular spot!

Hound Ears renters enjoy access to a private portion of the Watauga River as well as the famous Hound Ears Boulders especially for you climbers out there* -- and hiking trails that meander throughout the gated community.

Easy drive to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Viaduct.

Boulder Bend Cottage is the perfect place to forget about the daily grind & enjoy the famous North Carolina Mountains.

Misleading and musty at a minimum
I've traveled a lot over my career, from dive hotels and quaint B&Bs, to the JW, as well as many vacation rentals. The pictures looked great. It was everything we thought we needed. But upon walking in, this place STUNK. Literally. It smelled musty at a minimum, and moldy for those that may be sensitive. This was a huge red flag for our daughter's health, as she's sensitive to mold. The steps were really steep, but I didn't see that until the check in instructions. You have to watch your step, and those steps are gross. Stained carpet throughout upstairs. Upon checking the mattresses (necessary for traveling), they were stained and not protected at all. The host should invest in mattress protectors as well as encasement. Also, bedding with stains should be replaced. The kitchen is redone, and looks nice. The primary bath is also nice. We immediately contacted the host, and she was kind enough to refund us so we could find somewhere else to stay. She gets 5 stars for communication. You may also want to note that she charges a security *DEPOSIT* rather than a security hold, as most hosts charge holds. This place could be a real gem with new bedding, mattress protection, clean carpets, and mold/mildew remediation.

Fantastic!
My family, a total of 7 people, enjoyed our stay at Boulder Bend. We are already looking into rebooking next winter. The location is fantastic to all of the nearby towns. The neighborhood is beautiful, unique and gated. However, you still feel secluded. The backyard is amazing with the creek running through, chairs, swing, fire pit, grill, and boulders to climb on. Our children loved exploring out back. We felt safe allowing our 6 and 7 year old outside exploring while we watched from the porch. The house was quaint and is fully stocked with anything you need. Megan is a wonderful host! Great communication and recommendations. We woke up to a light dusting of snow one morning and it was lovely to sit in the family room watching it fall with the gas fire place on (the fireplace did give off heat on the lower level). Our children loved their room and loft. One of the best places we’ve stayed at! A very homey feel. Thank you, Megan, for a wonderful stay. We hope to stay again next year!
