We were so happy to stay at Geri's cabin after another reservation was canceled on us at the last minute. Her spot is peaceful and quiet. The gas fire was cozy and the kitchen is well stocked. Great place for a weekend in the woods!
The place is lovely and quite. A perfect getaway in the woods, you will wake up to birds chirping and we enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck overlooking the forest. The kitchen is fully stocked and we enjoyed making dinner one night we also appreciated the living room with TV and board games.
We did have to sweep when we arrived and the instructions for using the house and checking out our quite confusing. Simple bullet points on the handout would have been much easier.
Overall a five out of five and we loved our stay.

Thank you,. I always appreciate constructive criticism. Unfortunately, I swept heartily before I departed but since all doors and windows were left open due to the heat, the wind often brings in dust. Regarding the lengthy instructions, bullets are fine, but I like to give a warmth to my details. However, in the future, I'll leave both versions. Thanks for your comments. Have a happy summer.
In summary: Great property, secluded and quiet location, and wonderful host.
We had a wonderful time at Serenity Central with my wife and two 5 year old twins. The location is off of I80, and in good proximity to Lake Tahoe (45mins) and other outdoor winter places (skiing, sledding, tubbing, etc). Geri was a wonderful and accommodating host. We had to actually reschedule last minute because of incoming bad weather, but it worked out wonderfully. I highly recommend this property. We would love to check out the area during the summer as well. Thanks for everything, Geri!

Loved the location in the little history town of Dutch Flat. Close enough to the amazing cross country skiing in Soda Springs. The place was roomy with large windows. The kitchen had everything you need.
We had a really nice stay in Dutch Flat among the peaceful pines! Walking up the hillside to the house we were greeted by a statue of St. Francis and a deer, a sure sign that we would enjoy this home. Bring a flashlight if you arrive after dark. Geri, the owner was super communicative and wanted to make sure we could find everything her home had to offer. It was very well stocked. We cooked every night and the stove and oven worked well. There were many interesting books to read and myriad of interesting knick-knacks to muse over. I enjoyed that personal touch. She told us where to find local hiking, etc. Midway into our trip, a fire broke out 8 mi away, so sadly we needed to pack up and leave early. Geri promptly refunded the nights we missed, due to evacuating. She did an awesome job making sure we were well cared for while there. Thanks for everyting Geri! MC ;)
Overall was very easy. A wonderful place to relax and escape to a quiet place. Awesome place to walk and just enjoy the scenery. The host was informative and hospitable. Definitely will come back :)

My recent guests were an answer to a prayer and a dream. They left Serenity Central in a beautiful peaceful manner. I so appreciate guests like them. AND, they had a pup....I am wondering if they were invisible elves. THAT"S how wonderful they are as guests. Thanks, and I hope they will come again. Did I mention they were kind and considerate as well? Fabulous. thanks for coming.

Cozy mountain getaway at Serenity Central
We had a really nice weekend getaway at Serenity Central. Initially we were looking for somewhere to stay closer to Truckee/Tahoe Donner for a ski weekend, but couldn't find anything available & dog-friendly for the holiday weekend. Luckily, we found Serenity Central! Although there was no snow down in Dutch Flat, it was quick and easy (~30 mins) to drive up to Donner Pass (Sugarbowl, Royal Gorge, Boreal, Castle Peak, etc.) for a day of skiing. The house was very comfortable for our group of 2 couples, and Geri was a very accommodating host. We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs along, too. The kitchen was fairly well-equipped for a rental house, and the living room was very cozy for hanging out in the evenings.
Owner was great to deal with and overly accommodating
Geri was great! Everything was communicated very clearly and was gracious enough to let us check in early and use whatever was there at the house. Very unique place and the poll was near by. Town was a short walk and the neighbors were awesome.
What an awesome place! My husband and I have never felt so relaxed. The energy in this home is so good and positive - we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. A quiet neighborhood with lots of trees and a great view of the stars. A cool little historical town to explore too. Cozy - rejuvenating - wonderful. Thank you for having us!

Truly a relaxing home away from home
Serenity Central was a fantastic home base for exploring the nearby national parks--and the fantastic, local Dutch Flats community pool. The property was spacious, cozy, stocked with anything you might need (and more), and offered indoor and outdoor space. We especially appreciated the grill on the upstairs deck, which made our Labor Day adventure complete. Add to all of this the overall spiritual, supportive vibe of the decor, and you have a truly special place to stay.
Communication about the property and details for check-in and out were fantastic. I really appreciated the print outs waiting for us at arrival, with lots of information beyond just the property, but also the local town and nearby things to see.

Peace and Relaxation - What a Way To Spend Thanksgiving
We couldn’t have asked for a more inviting place to stay. The house relieved us of any stressors we’d brought with us as soon as we walked in. It was a perfect place to read, watch a mystery or two, complete a few crossword puzzles, and catch up on sleep. Everything we needed was there, and the owner was very accommodating before, during and after our stay.

Great fun!
We had the best time at this relaxing comfortable cabin. Close to an awesome pool with nice families and a fun walk into town. Many different sounds of birds, squirrels, chickens and trains are a welcome change from city life.

Heavenly Hideaway
The house was in excellent condition and along with the location, it provided the serene environment I was seeking for the weekend with friends.
It is a cozy place with a view of majestic trees out of every window. The kitchen has everything you need to care and feed yourself and the living room area is open and inviting. The deck off the living room is perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon. The small town of Dutch Flat is walkable and offers all the provisions you might need. And there is a nearby community pool, also surrounded by trees, to cool yourself on a hot summer day.
The owner is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and enthusiastically shares historical information as well as specific locations. It is a pleasure to be in the beauty of Gold Country and feel so cared for and safe.
I plan to return again and would recommend this place to anyone seeking the perfect place to soothe their soul and celebrate all that is good in life.

Cozy winter mornings in the trees
I dream all year of the cozy winter mornings we spend in this beautiful cabin on the hillside of Dutch Flat. The upstairs living area gives you the impression of being in the tops of the trees as you comfortably sip your coffee in front of the fire and gaze out at the snow tipped trees with the birds flitting about. There is a calmness that can’t be duplicated. The house is clean and well-maintained. It is a short walk into the quaint town of Dutch Flat where you can purchase groceries or just enjoy a scenic walk through a picturesque town. The house is decorated with exquisite finds from around the world and the kitchen is well equipped. The kids like to stay downstairs where they have their own space to hang out, their own bathroom, and nice warm heater. We look forward to our annual winter visit to this cozy retreat in the woods. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet vacation in the mountains.

Peaceful Pines
We thoroughly enjoyed our refreshing visit to Dutch Flat. The mountain air is clean and invigorating, the nights are wonderfully dark, great sleeping weather. The house is charming, serene and inviting, very clean and neat. We found a stream up the road an easy walking distance away, and enjoyed relaxing in the calming environment. The little town of DF is quaint, and Grass Valley is nearby for shopping and entertainment. We look forward to staying there again.

Peace in the Pines
If you want a peaceful place in the pines, this is the place for you. A comfortable two story house set in a tranquil environment will refresh your body and mind.
This uniquely decorated home is the perfect destination for someone wanting a short drive from the valley to a relaxing stay in the Sierras. The house is light and airy with forest views from every room and the wonderful fenced deck on the upper level is great for children, pets, bbqs and just unwinding in a forest setting. If you want a little more adventure the area is perfect for hiking, and if you have off road vehicles there are miles of dirt roads to explore in the area. The owner is enthusiastic and accommodating .
Thanks so much. I truly hope you and your sweet hound will come again soon. Geri

A *restful, *relaxing, *retreat.
I so enjoyed my three days and nights at this simple yet elegant cottage in the magical setting of the silent sentinals of the Sierra. There is a feeling of "leaving it all behind" as one slips out of the hubbub of the valley and into the welcoming comfort of this beautiful natural environment. Contributing to this sense of comfort is the cottage ambiance; the warmth of the dancing fire, the starlit views from the ample deck, simple fare from the well detailed kitchen, and I recommend a good friend to share it all with. This is a great getaway for a three "*r" destination (rest, relax and retreat). Enjoy!

Serenity Now!
This is a truly lovely and serene home in the pines and is literally surrounded by huge sentinel trees. There are places everywhere to walk and immerse in nature. The old Gold Country town is also intriguing as well as its residents.
With a stressed out life, this was an amazing experience in beauty and relaxation. Everything you need is out your fingertips and, yes, it is wonderfully cozy.

September delight
We attended a Dutch Flat wedding and this home was perfect for us. Close to town, a good kitchen, large living/dining room.We did not use any heat nor did we need any. The days were very hot and the cool evenings were a sweet relief. We felt so very much at home with every convenience.
There are two beds so it does sleep 4 if you are in couples. If you are 4 singles who want to sleep seperately, then you would do well to find another place or have cots for two brought in.
We were hoping to see some wild animals but only encountered some of our friends at the wedding!
We recommend this if you want a cozy, sweet, private place to stay.

Teri, I think your review was intriguing as I gave you a discount and tried to fulfill every wish you had, including keeping Madam Truefire erected in case you needed her. Implying that cots would need to be brought in,....would have been nice to have spoken to me...if feels like a ding. oh well.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!
The beauty & convenience of this property are AWESOME. You can feel that you are TOTALLY away from the hustle & bustle of LIFE. Yet, you are only a short drive from a major city, RENO, NEVADA! The house is very quaint, cozy, livable. You can have coffee/breakfast/ALL MEALS, on the back balcony or sit inside, looking out at the gorgeous GIANT PINE TREES. There are views from almost every area you spend time in and you feel secluded & private.
There are many areas to walk/ponder/listen...post office, deli, country store for your convenience. You will immediately feel the calm and sense of nature everywhere. Even the drive to Dutch Flat is soothing.
I have had the pleasure of staying there twice. Once in May & another time in September. They were BOTH DELIGHTFUL!
If you're a writer, take NOTE! You will be in a quiet, natural surrounding that inspires! ENJOY!

About the host
Hosted by Geri Lennon
We are freelance writers and video producers. This is a fabulous place for creativity and exploration. Since we write and do documentary work worldwide, Serenity Central is filled with photos from many cultures.
Why they chose this property
The Sierras are spectacular all year round. It is a perfect place for nature, hiking, winter and summer sports and just plain chilling out. If you are an author, this is the place to write you next best seller. If you are a meditator, even the squirrels will meditate with you. This is a magical site in nature. It's not a party pad so if a deck and a quiet glass of wine don't call to you, then you might try somewhere else.
What makes this property unique
Exquisite nature is one of our favorite benefits. No freeway traffic jams while enjoying pure relaxation. This is a perfect writer's haven. Small writer's workshops and meditation retreats with a comfortable few are perfect as well. And for working online, the wifi is fast and reliable (except in power outs which are rare).
