About this property

Beautiful French Style Cottage with an Outdoor Bath


360 degrees views of stunning mountains and vineyards. We have 3.5 acres to enjoy.
Beautiful , private historic property with stone fences, rock crops, native birds
and the distant sound of the river. You can soak all this up in your own outdoor bath for two people or sit by the outdoor fire tasting some of our local wine.
We are close to the cycle track, Kawarau river, original Bungy bridge, ski fields and historic Arrowtown, with it's restaurants and shopping.
Situated across the road from Kinross, where a restaurant/winery and bike hire is available.
From Gibbston you can explore many wonderful areas, summer or winter.
Have your camera ready for the many lakes, rivers and roads to wander.
Ski fields close by Coronet, Cardrona and Remarkables.




Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition we appreciate if you leave the cottage tidy. Also if you bring your dog it must be well behaved and not left in the cottage for long periods while you go out.

This piece of heaven was so unexpected - beautifully decorated, French linen, everything you need for a luxury country stay. It’s 20 mins from the airport, but feels like a world away. Highly recommended.

Luxurious gem in the heart of the Otago wine region

This incredible cottage was extremely comfortable and spacious, exactly as described and so charming! It’s perfect for visiting wineries, close to Arrowtown and Queenstown, but also so private and peaceful you may not want to leave. Just the best!

The Boathouse is special. We loved everything about our stay there. It is warm and welcoming in a “quirky” way. Shelley and Neil are excellent hosts and made us feel most welcome. The location is stunning and the outdoor bath was the icing on the cake. If we’re ever back in New Zealand, we would love to return.

Immaculate Boathouse in Wine Country

Absolutely loved our stay at the Boathouse. The location in wine country is perfect- you can easily walk to several wineries, and the home itself was well stocked with all the supplies you need. I also need to comment on the decor- well styled and so adorable- everything is so well pulled together and quaint. We used the outdoor tub every night and enjoyed the stars too. Totally recommend.

Beautiful cottage, gorgeous peaceful area, surrounded by incredible views!

We loved our stay at “the Boathouse”! Absolutely stunning area, with snow capped mountain views and super close to a bunch of winery’s and a close drive to Arrowtown. Fireplace was perfect, beautiful gardens and so very peaceful. Wishing we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the gorgeous outdoor bath that we sadly didn’t get to try out. Lovely hosts who were responsive to messages, super helpful and friendly, whilst also allowing privacy for us as we stayed. We wouldn’t hesitate to book in again and stay at this gorgeous cottage.

Rustic country retreat

The Boathouse is a special dream for a creative couple. It is gorgeous and so authentically French in style you could be in Bordeaux somewhere. The huge outdoor bath while you watch the stars is a special experience. Warm and friendly communication from the hosts. A short drive to Arrowtown. Highly recommended.

The boathouse visit was one of the most beautiful stays we could have hoped for. Gorgeous rustic french style vibes. The location is idyllic and surrounded by stunning vistas and countryside. An amazingly pretty corner of Gibbston Valley!

A hidden gem! Quite a dainty cottage! The outdoor bath is heavenly! Well looked after section is fenced so our dog could run free on the property and explore. 🐶There also is a vege patch and many fruit trees there. I enjoyed few sweet pea snaps 😋 and fresh cous lettuce. There’s an outdoor dining area where we enjoyed our meals. We surely will go back.

Wonderful Stay at the Boathouse!

We had a relaxing stay at the Boathouse and enjoyed meeting our hosts Shelley and Neil. They are super nice people and gave us good recommendations. The house is super clean, well-stocked, private and very comfortable. The woodstove warmed the chilly mornings. The outdoor tub is super cool though we didn't use it. It was a great location for us for wine tasting and sight seeing. Honestly, the Boathouse is the most charming place we've ever had the pleasure of visiting and being there felt like a warm hug! Thank you Shelley and Neil!

If you want an escape away from your hectic life, The Boathouse is the place to visit.
We are a short drive to anywhere you might like to explore but you don't need to leave the valley as there is great food and wine right here and you don't even need to get into your car as most of them are within walking distance.
We are also happy for you to bring your dog if it is well behaved, but please message first!

What makes this property unique

Situated in the Valley of Wines, where e-bike hire is available and you can enjoy cycling the Gibbston River Trail which winds along the majestic Kawarau River. It is a scenic ride to Arrowtown. You can stop at some of the best wineries in the region for wine tasting or lunch. There is also shuttle transport and cycle tours if you wish.
