Our stay at the adorable house in Calumet was fantastic. It’s in a nice neighborhood right by downtown. Everything we needed was there, including a great coffee bar and coffee selections. The house is nicely decorated and comfortable. Would definitely go back.
We stayed at this property for two days during a road trip through Michigan. As we first approached the property, we will a little……concerned. The exterior of the property is a bit rough, and the neighborhood made us question our choices. But, once we walked in, we could not have been more surprised. The interior has been completely overhauled and is well maintained throughout. Recently remodeled, updated decor, and fabulous amenities. The coffee options, ice machine, and really great WiFi were all a very pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our stay. We would stay again!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
The “Calumet Getaway” was a mixed bag of pros and cons. Pros: 1) Great location in Keweenaw overall and within Calumet, easy walking distance to town and easy driving distance to a beach. 2) Well-appointed kitchen when it comes to large and small appliances. 3) Great shower, with nice showerhead and high water pressure. 4) Good convenient parking and privacy on a quiet street. 5) Nice set of kitchen knives. 6) Very good laundry facilities. Cons: 1) Heavy smell of cigarette smoke, especially in the main bedroom, when the property is supposed to be nonsmoking. 2) Owner never responded when we emailed and texted about the toilet needing to be repaired. 3) The property used a lot of small motion sensor lights, many of which didn’t work at all, and several of which fell off of where they were mounted on their own volition during our stay. 4) Super flimsy silverware, such that the forks literally started bending when you tried to stab a cooked vegetable. 5) No measuring cup in the kitchen and a fairly limited selection of bowls, pots, and pans, with no nonstick pans. 6) Broken cabinet door hinge above stove.

We're glad you appreciated the convenient location, quiet setting, and quality laundry setup. After reading your feedback, we followed up with the homeowner, who wanted to share the following:– Maintaining a smoke-free home is important, and we're diligent about this. The smell you noticed was likely due to the Canadian wildfires. We’ve looked into this since your stay, and we're glad to report that the odor has subsided.– We wish you had reached out during your stay, as we checked and didn’t receive any communication from you. We've confirmed that our contact information is provided in the pre-stay materials so guests can get in touch easily if anything comes up.– The cabinet hinge above the stove has been repaired, and we checked the toilet after your visit to confirm it’s working properly. We've also noted your comments about the motion-sensor lights.– We use the silverware ourselves regularly, including with steak, and haven’t had any issues with it bending. We’ve chosen not to include nonstick pans due to health and environmental concerns, and we’re keeping your suggestions regarding additional kitchen items in mind. The homeowner takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for guests. Thank you for your feedback, and we’ll continue working together to provide a positive experience for all future visitors.
