Central & Charming Huntsville Cottage Retreat- Fire Pit, WiFi, Forest Views!
Charming Huntsville Cottage Retreat!
Discover our cozy guest cottage just outside Huntsville, a short 5 minute drive from Main Street. This charming retreat makes a great home base for all your adventures exploring Muskoka & beyond.
The Space:
**Living room- Comfy chaise sofa, 43" Smart TV, heated floors, games, drop leaf dining table, HDMI cord, 2 bright windows, electric fireplace.
**Bedroom- Queen size bed w/comfy linens, wardrobe, large window w/forest views, ceiling fan, heated floors, privacy blinds, all linens provided & a door for direct access to the driveway.
**Kitchenette- Drip coffee maker (coffee & filters provided), kettle, microwave, large toaster oven, fridge/freezer, electric frying pan, induction cooktop, slow cooker, all dining & bbq essentials. *Note that there is no full size oven or stove*.
**Bathroom- Large bathroom w/walk-in shower, heated floors, hair dryer, window, all toiletries & towels provided.
**Electric Fireplace- small electric fireplace in the living room with easy to use controls located inside the unit door. Two options; have the flame on with no heat, or use both the heat & flame function. Please ensure fireplace is turned off completely upon checkout.
**Outdoor- Covered dining area, covered propane BBQ (propane & utensils provided), hammock, two loungers, fire pit (seasonally maintained April-November, weather permitting). Note the fire pit is not maintained/available during some winter months due to weather conditions.
**Pets- One well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage. We charge a $100 pet fee and we ask that they stay off all furniture and textiles and use their own crate or bed. Please clean up after your pet, disposing of waste in the woods or using your own disposal bags. Be aware that our neighbours have two dogs who occasionally bark; an invisible fence keeps them separated from our property & they have never crossed onto our property. Dogs must be kept on leash/in control at all times when outside.
**Other- full size laundry machines are available in the utility room, as well as a large chest freezer for longer stays.
**The cottage is located on a large property, approximately 100 feet from the main house that may be rented simultaneously, but offering privacy. We always do our best to inform guests at both units if the other one will be occupied during their stay.
Other Details to Note:
Thank you for taking care of our property. We ask that you treat the property with care & respect, just as we do. We take pride in this cottage & put a lot of care & work into it to make it an amazing experience for our guests. Please note the following additional House Rules:
- Strict No smoking/vaping inside the unit. If you choose to smoke, we ask that you smoke/vape outside & that you are responsible & safe with ashes & cigarette butts & they are disposed of carefully. Do not discard cigarette butts or any other kind of smoking waste on our property as you could be charged a fee.
- No parties/events
- No unauthorized overnight guests
- Quiet hours to be observed from 11pm-7am daily both inside & outside.
- There is also the main house on the property located approximately 100ft away that we rent out separately to other guests, or together to larger groups. Please enquire within if you'd like to book both properties for a larger group (maximum of 10 people).
Pet Policy- One well-behaved dog is welcome for a fee of $100. We ask that they stay off all furniture and textiles and use their own crate or bed. Beaches/Water Access:
- local nearby beaches are Avery Beach & Hutcheson Beach, while Arrowhead Park and Port Sydney offer very cute beaches & are only a short drive from the property as well. Note that the property is not waterfront but has lake access points just down Brunel road, as well as at the public docks in the centre of town.
- Fire Pit- the fire pit is available for your use during spring, summer & fall. Guests must obey all local fire burning by-laws & guidelines (no daytime burning at all). We try our best to provide some wood, however we may not always be able to. Firewood can be purchased at local gas stations up here, a few minutes drive from the property. There are bbq lighters inside the cottage to use as well. Please be careful & responsible when using the fire pit & ensure the flames are extinguished once finished. There is a hose on the side of the cottage (facing the pond) for you to put out the fire, as well as a bucket in the utility room. Thank you in advance. And please note that the fire pit is not maintained during the winter months (November to March/April).
- If you use any streaming apps on the Smart TV please remember to log out of them upon checkout!
- For winter, it's recommended that guests have winter tires on their vehicles as there is an incline to the driveways. We also have a snow plow service that plows the wrap-around driveway as well as the guest cottage driveway when it snows a few inches. Note that guests may need to shovel some snow at points during the winter as the weather is unpredictable.
- Parking- lots of room to park in the driveway & we have extended the driveway at the top to allow for vehicles to more easily do a 3 point turn to turn around (very tricky to back down the driveway). Please do not park or drive on the grass anywhere.
- Please do not litter on the property.
- We do our best to maintain it at a high level, but being in a country setting means that sometimes a few furry visitors and/or bugs may be around. It happens up in Muskoka!
- We recommend all of our guests to pack some insect repellent during the spring & summer months.
- General tidy up from your stay is very much appreciated upon check out. Thank you:)
